Ok, Is it just me but are you scared about this character too? When I just saw the face of him for the first time I mistaked him for a girl. I was kinda hoping that they would have a cool main character for the next FF. If it wasn't for the open jacket he would look like a girl.Here is a picture of him:

I think Vaan(hopefully correctly pronounced "vain" and NOT "vahn"), looks cool. I can't judge since I've never played the game, but since we've had our share of well differed opinionated main heroes in the series, this one'll leave a LOT of debate.

I dunno, I haven't seen anything but negative comments about Vaan's looks, be it from gamers or reviewers or magazines.
OPM had a kick out of calling Vaan a metrosexual for quite some time, last year, even.
And everyone seems to agree about that.

I haven't seen one positive comment about how he looks.

He doesn't scare me, but I'm a bit tired of pretty boys that seem to spend a lot of time in front of the mirror before heading out the house to save the world, but, I haven't played the game, I might warm up to him once I get to learn more about his personality, but, really, why can't the characters like Basch be the leader once in a while?

It's interesting that you mention that. The first time I saw Vaan I immediately thought "homo." I asked all my ff friends what they thought but no one really had an oppinion. The HUGE pants and gay little vest type thing is either really gay or really metro. I'm not gonna let it spoil the game though.

Why does it matter so much what teh character looks like? I dont think you should base your opinions only around a characters looks. This is all i hear from some people:

Yeah he's much different than the other FF main male characters, but I guess we have to wait and see who he really is beyond the metro appearance.

Yeah when I first saw Vaan I thought he looked slightly... feminine? I guess that's the only way I can explain it. But when I first saw Zidane from FFIX I deffinetly thought he was a girl, more than an other char Ive seen.

Vaan reminds me of Tidus a little, but I dont believe he is anything like Tidus apart from the blonde hair good lookin' guy. I think he's going to be a great character, he seems like a true Hero who starts off in a crappy little slum sort of place and builds up to save the world(like every FF...), he's gonna be interesting to play as and get to know as I play through the game.

Vaan is a big bishie, but it wont get in my way when playing the game. It's slightly annoying how they've made him look like that though.....

Perhaps they are trying to get more girls to play by doing a Shonen-Ai angle or some shit. It would explain why he's 'just friends' with Penelo... he has his eyes on the men... XD Hell just look at the picture. If a guy posed like that, I'd threaten to nad-shot him, because he obviously doesn't know what to do with them...

I agree that Vaan does look a bit metro..but hey, in my opinion both Tidus and Squall were on the verge of being metro too. And correct if i'm wrong but Vaan is much younger than either of them isn't he? Not since the old days have any of the main characters truely been manly..most are strangely very unisex looking. That's more of a Nomura thing i'd say.

When I first saw Van I looked to me he wouldn't be all that cool, or anything special that way Cloud, Leon, and Tidus had.

But I hear the Van is actually a cool character. So will see in Halloween when its released.

I honestly don't look at the appearences of the FF main characters Male/Female leads. Hmm, if I remember from the old days, Frion from FF2 looked like a girl with a bandana on, but! That was what I throught back then, I have a totally new outlook on his appearence. Cloud was manly indeed, as well as Leon in a way( alittle metro), now for Zidane.. honestly I did'nt really care, a hero with a tail is always cool to me

. He was an odd one when I first played but he grew on me in time, he may be "16" in the game but he proved he was a man as well, ( he got the girl in the end

. Ok here's my throught on Tidus... I admit he looked a bit metro. ( notice iam saying " a bit"). The cloths he had on were a little metro as well, but they were awesome, as well as the chain he had on his neck, he grew on me as well each time I played. Now finally my throught on Vaan... I can't knock him before I play FF12. I agree he has a Tidus lookalike going, but I can see a Strong Cloud spirit in him as well. So all in all my advice to you guys is this: Play the game first, then judge. Who knows he might surprize you guys and gals in the end
