With that furry hood he wore? He's a trendy-boy super kagouras, aka at least metro. His face? He looked like a girl...His hair sucked too. The weay he treated Rinoa? No one would treat that chick this way. We're saying Kuja, Tidus & Vaan looks feminine just because Squall is strong- you can't make any character exceptionally stronger than the others in IX, X or XII.In the end they all have the same abilities.

LOL. Squall is the worst of them all. They only did a good work with Cloud, Firion, Cecil - they latest ones? NO.

When someone mentioned about vanns six pack i have to say its freaky cause it looks like its his bones sticking right out(in game only not in fmv's)thats pretty weird.

I believe i was the one who talked about his disgusting six pack and hell i stand by that comment. All the way through FF XII, that sick thing has been there, staring me in the face. At least i'mn ot having nightmares about it. Anyway i do think Vann would probaly be gay if he had a mind of his own in the game. Still, as for the idea for Basch being the main character I like that idea. I've liked Basch since you first see him, he seriously kicks ass. Its cool how he takes out those five guards in the begining. Unfortunatly we're stuck with Vaan though. As for his performance in the game (conserning attacking, magicks and mists) he does alright. I liked white whorl and pyroclasm a lot. They looked cool!

I agree whole heartedly with Itachi Uchiha. I don't see Vaan as main character material myself. I might have found him funny or interesting as a party member like I find Vincent Valentine in FFVII, but as a main character, I reckon Basch would win hands down. Sure he's older and more experienced than the other party members, but he's also more likeable. I actually want to see him redeemed in the eyes of Rabanastre's public when I play. Instead I have to watch Ms. Man.

For some reason, while I was playing the game I felt that Vaan wasn't the main character. I felt that it was more about Ashe restoring peace to her Kingdom then about Vaan at all. Basch seems main-character material. He's strong and confident. That seems leader material to me. But apart from that, one thing I would've liked more about the game if there was more input for the other characters. I felt that they were left out in a way.

That is true, the story is more based around Ashe and restoration of Dalmasca. Still although the game does make Vaan seem like the main character, you technicly don't have to have him as it. You can choose who ever you want as you party leader. So basicly you can choose the main character. However the only time Vaan is the main character is when your in a city or town and you have to play as him. Now thats annoying. I say you should be able to go in as your party leader.

If you aren't using Vaan in your party, which will probably mean that you prefer someone else, then it really is annoying. They didn't even think about giving that option to the player. The thing is that they decided to make Vaan the main character, without him being no1 at all, so here he is.

Indeed, the story goes way too much around what happens with Ashe & Basch in their attempt to restore Dalmasca & the others are just left behind. No one cares about them- if a wyrm grabs Penelo & flies away, Vaan will rush to the rescue & Basch will be all like "NO. We have to restore Dalmasca, no matter the cost. The girl cannot be helped. And if Vaan wants to save her, he may go..." & let him loos in the sands. Horray for the main hero, who gets eaten by a dinosaur. They had some serious character-creation-and-their-part-in-the-story issues when making XII. Whatever.

Vaan tags along to find "answers" to his whatever-questions, Penelo goes because of Vaan & the Sky Pirates; they go for the money, even if Balthier seems as if he doesn't want any gil from them at all. He's all talk.

That's why i'm using Vaan, Penelo & Fran, my main characters. At least they don't seem that arrogant & annoying as Ashe does. SE could make her prettier- that way i might even use her

I also thought that is was annoying when Vaan would be your main character in a town... it was like he just popped out of nowhere when you entered a location and weren't previously using him. I can see the need to have him an cutscenes and whatnot, but I really don't think it would have been taht hard to let the palyer use any character when they entered a town....

... unless I'm overlooking some plot-specific instance where Vaan was needed to interact with someone.

Well basicly Vaan was just some extra help the party needed, much like Penelo was. The story doesn't really need them as nothing revolves around them. If they weren't included we would have had Fran and Balthier breaking into the castle, getting what they wanted, etc. Basicly there would have been almost no need to go to the Lhusu mine and stuff like that because they wouldn't be there.

So simply put, Vaan and Penelo are just extras added.

The playing of the game was good an all. But yeah the characters really didn't add up all that great. It did seem they were all doing there own thing. Just they were some how traveling together. It was really turn off.

Vaan's voice drove me up the wall. I hated how he talked in that cocky self confidant voice... it really sounded fake to me. All the other voice actors sounded great except for his.

Pretty much everyone I know who's played the game has at least thought Why the hell are Vaan and Penelo in the party? at least once.

i thought the same as the hastechocobo but i thought gay homo lol and yes he does look like a girl. He is a awsome fighter though. I bet he could beat any of us in a fight. So i wouldnt insult him.

Awesome fighter? EVERYONE is an awesome fighter, they can all do the same things. And I doubt he could beat many people in a fight, he looks too malnourished.

Anyway, I hate his looks. His pendant is ugly, his abs look painted on, he has an ugly hooked nose and his hairstyle is crappy. But as for his character storywise, I never really minded him. He doesn't exactly DO anything to make me like or dislike him.
