Bleh!

His hair totally screams a Tidus-Squall disaster! Seriously. Was it long before? Did he slip with a knife in his hand and before he knew it, his hair was all cut and shit?

As for his face, he looks like a girl. And a really ugly one at that. He has a witch-nose. You may as well stick black hair on his head and give him a broomstick. I can't see his eyes that well... are they blue? That'd go even worse with that witch nose and the black wig.

In the end, I think he makes a hideous woman, but not a completely hideous guy.

He isnt as bad as he looks. He isnt a bitch like Tidus at all. He is a bit of a whiny teenager, but thats it. In the close ups he has manly features, so its not all bad. The voice is a lot manlier too.

Yeah i was surprised too..at first glance i thought he was going to be a younger more annoying version of Tidus, but really he's not like that at all. When it shows his face he does look a lot more manly than what you would think. Also your right about his voice, atleast it sounds like he has hit puberty haha.

So far, i have yet to be annoyed by any of the characters or their voices like i was in X. I think the voice acting in this game is top notch.

At least so far in the game, a British accent means you are a bad guy. I never knew that.

Every single voice actor sounds like they deserve their job. I like the Bagaa voices the best. Balthier is fun, but Basch is a bit too stereotypical.

After getting the game and playing it, Vaan seems more serious than Tidus and upclose, he does look more masculine than far away. As for his voice, its alright. Everybody voices like Penelo and Basch soung good too,but Vaan's voice really makes him more manly than at fisrt glance.

Yeah, I'm liking his voice, too.
He looks and sounds like what he is; a 17 years old; well, he does look a bit younger than that, what with the pretty boy face and all that, but he is alright.

I happen to like the way he looks. He's a street rat. Think Aladdin. Didn't Aladdin wear a fruit purple vest? But he rocked. He dodged the guards and stole stuff.

So Vaan's not a hardcore knight or ninja or something? Whatever. He'll do.

I have yet to play the actual game so my opinion is about pretty much useless so ignore me in almost all sense of the word.

But first impressions of Vaan I don't like it too much; see I never cared for Zidane and Tidus and both rank to me anyway as the two weakest FF main characters and to me Vaan is going to follow suit but who knows maybe that will actually change.

Basch and Balthier seem a hell of alot cooler.

Well it's really to classify Vaan as the main character of the story... He really comes off as an unlikely hero. I guess I'm not far enough to give a final verdict on if he is one of the weakest characters in the series, but thus far i like Vaan, though not nearly as much as Balthier or Ashe.

That's the thing about FF XII though..to me it really doesn't have one main character.

Yup, you can say that again. He does look like feminine, but in the game he is not so. He is the happy go lucky type of person, of course, he is a pirate, umm, or a theif? I dont know, all I know is that he steals things. Oh, and I also would like to agree that the open jacket or vest is the only thing that proves he is a guy. But he is still made nice, maybe they just wanna make a new approach for the main male character.

I don't think vaan so much looks like a girl as some of the other characters, (younger brother to the throne of the empire/Lamont) but his face does look messed to me

, as if he's had reconstructive surgery that went terribly wrong.

On a side note, I dislike his voice as well lol. I just find it very annoying, not sure if anyone else does.

I don't think he looks feminine at all. If you put him next to Kuja you'd think he was a manly lumberjack who eats goats raw and other manly things...

As for his face, it looks like he hadn't eaten in years and maybe fell off Bhujerba and landed on it. But, not many FF characters are lookers.

I have to say that my problem isn't really the heroes LOOKING like girls (though i do like the manly heroes of old), it's really the way they act like girls. In the japanese anime/manga style, i think a lot of male character designs are going to look like girls as a lot are very unisex. It's really more in the way they act..and yes vaan is a bit immature, but he is 17 and he doesn't at all act like a girl. He's certainly got some tough skin.
