Says you. You don't know unless you try, right?

Bad draws happen. When you get paired with someone who has a ton of experience and is a better writer, it just happens. But what better way to learn is there than being paired up with someone who might be above your skill level? And think about the contrary -- you could get a good matchup and fight someone on your level or perhaps someone below your level (so perhaps you could be good experience for someone else!).

You shouldn't turn away the tournament just because you're under the assumption that you'll lose. With an outlook like that, it's bound to happen.

Instead, you should turn down the tournament because you're too busy or your writing is dedicated elsewhere right now, or maybe just because you don't want to. But don't shy away from it in fear of losing. Take the challenge, and learn some new things. A loss isn't necessarily a bad thing. It just means that someone wrote a little better than you, that's all.

@Kaitou: It's good to hear you'll be participating. ^_^

OK heres the deal everybody.

I'm getting ready to post my char prof, but my computer time could become extremely limited.
I'm on a friends computer as a trojan horse is on the rampage, and could be mutilating my system as we speak. Does anybody know how to back up an operating system on a cd? Cuz im gonna have to reformat if I can't stop it, and the batlle is incredibly difficult (its reproduced itself three times, and twice in my system32 folder).

Anyways, welcome OmniT hope you enjoy yourself.

Ok I've posted my character profile in the OOC. It took forever, and sstill needs some refining, but at least its there.

I have an idea for a discussion: Should we send more troops to Iraq? It's been all over the news lately, so I figured that at least someone else would have an opinion.

Geez, I feel like I'm relegating you guys out for some stuff. But, I have ha...I mean, been lent a computer, and now I shall have some action here. If only for today, that is...

@OmniT: Welcome to the group. I was kinda worried since I saw the RP OOC thread before this one, but I quickly realized I had to check-up on here. I'd like to see some of that work...

@Colt: sorry for answering late, but I think I'll pass to this ToA. Still frustrated over the last one (lost in the first round to end up in a no-contest?), and I can't still figure out the reasons (blame that on anything stealing my time and brain-action). Furthermore, the last RPB I had (the one with Taco) also ended up in a no-contest, which frustrates me even more.

@Everyone: I'll be preparing the first post of the RP probably next week, as I can find extra computer time (I'll need it, definitely).

@Discussion: Think about it: the people in Iraq are restless that both the US and the insurgents are battling each other, warbands facing each other for control of the country... Why stir the entire problem some more? It would be a big move for the US if it finally decided to make a full retreat of Iraq: while the insurgents would think of it as a victory, the unrest between the population will make sure that their visions of victory be quickly dispelled. If they're happy, then the US was not wanted there, and the people were thinking of the war as a mere invasion of the country, rather than a war for democracy. If the situation worsens, and the Iraqis request more support, then the entire war effort will be strengthened. It's all a case of point of view. Furthermore, I also heard that, in April, the US will launch an offensive against Iran, which makes the conflict (and the world's POV towards the US) even worse than before.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: All of you members, check up the RP OOC thread. You will see a bit of important notice regarding your characters. Any questions or doubts, please, in the thread. Don't feel bad: I allowed quite a bit of stuff, for your enjoyment, but please make the proper changes, ok?

OK everybody, I may have to enter no comp time for a few days: The virus on my computer at home has spread to countless files. I've printed out essays and papers that I need to save, and tomorrow....MORTAL KOMBAT! I'm gonna boot the recovery partition and hope for the best. I'm trying to tie up any loose ends, just in case it crashes completely.

TGO: A offensive against Iran? wow. I dont believe that we were needed in Iraq in the first place, and now were gonna go somewhere else? (I'm gonna add more to this at school tomorrow).

For the record, I'm still game for our one-on-one should you find some free time in the near future. I'd love to run through a battle and have quick little summary posts every few posts to clear up things here and there, let you know what may be wrong and to emphasize everything that's right. You don't give yourself enough credit as a writer. It's a shame that a loss tends to do that to people.

@Colt: I haven't forgotten about that. However...I wanted a little favor from you. See, the judge we had for the IL battle between Taco and I ended in a double KO because the judge deemed our battle too hyped up for what it should have been. However...I'm piqued by interest. Who made the best battle out there? Who would have won in the last attack?

@Tidus: I hope you see this...I only heard a rumor about it, not certain fact. I heard that they were to attack near April as a way to use however last bit of goodwill with the UK, since Tony Blair ends his mandate on that month.

TGO: Glad to know that it is ony a rumor, but still, the very thought of invading or "liberating" a third country sends chills down my spine.

I getting ready to start fixing the holes in my character. I have a few hours to kill, and I'm still trying to figure out how to boot recovery partition.

TGO:
Thanks. As far as my work...I'd be happy to post it if I get the chance.

I've tweaked my char prof. If you see any problems, or if perhaps I didn't quite catch your drift in the first post (Sometimes I can get a little dense) PM me and I'll fix it.

Discussion: "Should we?" I cannot tell. I am not in possession of all the necessary info. Perhaps, it's the acute optimist in me but I always assume that the government knows more about the situation than me. But knowing our goverment, that's probably too optimistic.

I do not claim to be a political genius, however, I should think that we could at least hire someone to be a leader of Iraq just so we could successfully escape this quagmire. Anyone. Who could possibly be worse than Saddam? The radicals would hopefully focus on him as a target and would allow us to beat a retreat.

It's a cheap rickety gimmicky plan but, hopefully it would have a smaller mortality rate than Bush's mad invasion.

Besides, I'm not terribly sure that retreating would enrage the terrorists as much as staying and invading more...

All right everyone, I am back. It just took about a weeks worth of reinstallation, 65 bucks, and a lot of patience.

TGO: I am putting th finishing touches on my character right now. I may have missed something, but i think I covered my bases pretty well.

Discussion:

Ok, honestly I don't think that we should have invaded Iraq in the first place. We weren't wanted there in the first place, and our reckless offensive against Iraq changed the world view of us in a profoundly negative way. Also, weren't we supposed to be in Afghanistan looking for Osama? Osama is the real culprit tht we should be hunting for. Also, people say that Saddam and Osama were working together? Not true Osma is a shiite and Saddam was a sunni (maybe its the other way around but you get the idea).

As for sending more troops over? The country is already torn apart as it is, and i don't think that we should be encourageing the tearing. Ever notice on the news the increase in terror attacks since our invasion/liberation/occupation/whatever you want to call it? An organized retreat over the course of a few months (like 2 or 3) seems a smarted course of action.
