Okay, first fic I publish. The prologue is 2 pages long. . Please tell me what you think. No mean comments please. Constructive Critisism.

Prologue – The Rulers of the Summons.

Water?…

What is this?

Where is everyone?

What’s happening to me!?!

Am I dead?!?!

The girl kept falling, into the ocean. The monster Leviathan had destroyed the boat.

Wake up Rydia,

You are the last one.

The very last summoner.

Wake up, you’re safe.


Rydia slowly opened her eyelids. A peculiar man and woman were staring at her.

-“Where am I? Who are you! What do you want from me?” she yelled in the stranger’s face.

-“Do not worry, I am Leviathan, the king of the summons and this is Ahura, my queen. “ the man whispered.

-“You just answered one of my questions! I’m waiting!” Rydia yelled, as tears started swelling in her eyes..

-“Calm down little girl, we do not want to harm you, since you’re the last summoner in the land.” Ahura said, while taking the little girl’s hand.

-“You are in the Land of Summoned Monsters, and I have brought you here to train. But you will have to choose, will you train under me?” alleged Leviathan.

-“But…what does this training imply” Rydia cleaned off the tears off her face with her arm.
-“Oh, but this implies nothing. You will become stronger if you accept my training, you will need this strength to save the world, to save…Cecil.

Cecil! What happened to him!?!

He needs me!

He saved me…

-“Do you have a special bond for your white magic? Is it essential for you?”

-What do you mean, Leviathan sir?” whispered Rydia.

-“He means, little girl, that you will need to give up your White Magic skills to become a more powerful summoner, a more powerful Black Mage.” Ahura

- “Indeed, to become a full-fledged summoner, to be able to honor your race, you need to abandon healing spells. To harness true monsters, such as the Mist Dragon, the Titan, or even myself, you need this power. Your black magic will also be much stronger. What is your choice, Rydia of Mist?” said Leviathan, with a powerful, an assertive voice.

White Magic…

It saved me so many times.

But, my lack of power…

Frustrated me so much.

To save Cecil, I need this power.

To protect the world, he needs a true summoner by his side!

-“Yes!” shouted Rydia, at the top of her lungs. “Rid me of the power of healing! Give me the power to make a difference in the world!”

- “Then follow me, time to start your training” said Leviathan as he walked out of the room. “But, do not think this power is ultimate, that it’s easy to obtain. Prepare to train, for your life!.”

Chapter 1 – The Duel in the Mist.

So, I gave up on white magic

But, will I truly become stronger?

Do I really need to risk my life?!?

Rydia followed Leviathan out of the nursing room. The corridors were lengthy and labyrinth-like. The opaque white of the walls did not help. As she paced behind the king, she could hear moans of pain, laments and cries from the closed doors, but…those sounds weren’t human.

-‘This is the nursery, the hospital, where cubs and eggs are taken care of, as well as elderly monsters and hurt ones too’, said Leviathan, as if reading her mind.

-‘Monsters!?! Eggs? What are you saying?’ shouted Rydia

-‘Calm down little sprite. Do not rush. You will understand everything, just not now, not right now.

Why won’t he tell me anything…

Is he really Leviathan?

I could be walking into a trap!

Or worst, my Dea…

The door suddenly opened violently, blinding Rydia’s eyes with light. Wincing, she opened one eye and as she followed the king, she gazed around her. Monsters everywhere, everywhere, from huge dragons…to…a chocobo.

A chocobo!

The chocobo I’ve always summoned…

Where am I?

The land of summoned monsters.

This is where the monsters my people summon live!

Leviathan! He’s the king of the summons!

She wasn’t in her world anymore!!!

-‘Welcome to The Land of Summoned Monsters, where all summoned monsters live!’ bellowed the king. ‘Continue following me girl, I shall test your skills’

The land of summoned monsters was a marvel. A granite rock covered the skies. Yet, light was in abundance. The wooden floor, who she thought would be old, shined under her feet. And the most spectacular, was the monsters around her. Baby goblins shouting to her mothers : ‘A Human! I thought they were a legend! They really do exist!’, old summons staring at he with awe.

- ‘You are the first human to enter these lands, lass’, whispered a lady in her ear. ‘Don’t be afraid, go test your skills. If you have the strength, you will be trained, but be careful. Stay on your guard.

Rydia turned around to see who it was, but nobody was there. Leviathan made her enter a huge library. The room was filled with books, ancient manuscripts and much more…
It smelled of dust, and she saw many Goblins and other monsters which she did not know the name, studying for…something. The king made her go down a set of white marble stairs, into a white room.

-‘This is where you will face your first test. Take this wand. Defeat the monster and pass the test, be defeated and you might die! Prepare to fight…the Mist Dragon!’ screamed Leviathan, as he disappeared into mid-air.

A thick mist engulfed the room, and at the source, two red eyes appeared. A roar made Rydia stammer. A blast of freezing mist hit Rydia and as she fell on the floor, she shed a tear.

Mother, is this you?

Don’t hurt me! I love you!

Why did you have to die?!?

Why did you let Cecil kill you?

Why did you not open his eyes!

If this is what needs to be done,

I will defeat my mother’s summon!

Rydia stood up, holding her new acquired staff, and shot a blizzard spell into the mist. Nothing happened. The little eight year old’s chances of winning were slim, specially against her deceased mother’s best friend. The started running in the mist while shooting blizzard spells, but still, zilch, no damage. The mist dragon was absorbing her spells!
The dragon morphed into his full dragon form, maximizing the power of his mist breath. Rydia tried in vain a thunder spell, it touched the mist dragon! But, it wasn’t good enough. She needed more. Blasted once again by a powerful cannon of vapour, she collapsed.

‘Don’t be afraid Rydia

Harness the power of fire

You do not need to panic at the sight of flames.

Remember, Fabul…the ice wall. Remember. ‘

She needed to get hold of herself

She needed to remember Rosa’s words…

Use fire!!!

Rydia stood up and cast a powerful fire spell all around the room, banishing the mist. She could now see the dragon clearly. She had been mistaken, This wasn’t her mother’s summon, it was another one. Running around in the pale room, she casted multiple fire spells at the dragon, and they were effective. After a couple more exhausting spells by the young girl, the mist dragon collapsed.

Did she win?

Had she passed her test?

Was she going to be able to stand?

Those were the thoughts of Rydia as she collapsed on the clear floor, worn-out.

Chapter 2 – The Mist’s Bond, Icy Challange.

Rydia woke up in the same room she had woken up previously. She let her eyes wander around, and she noticed a woman, covered with ice, snoozing on the room’s reclining chair. As the young caller struggled to sit down on her bed, despite her numerous burns, inflicted by her own fire spell, the stunning ice woman woke up.

-“You’re awake, Rydia! What a pleasant surprise!” she blurt. “Quite an achievement young lady. You were able to defeat the terrible Mist Dragon. He has joined you.”

-“Joined me? How has it joined me? Why?!” Rydia hollered. “What did it do to me!”

-“Young girl, you are much too stressed. I do not wish to harm you. Since you have vanquished the Dragon, you have gained the ability to summon him anytime you want. That’s what I meant. You have now an everlasting bond with the beast of the mist. But it is not enough. You must also master black magic. Summoning will not suffice in your quest, to help Cecil. Do you wish to learn ice magic, from the Summon of winter herself, Shiva, myself?!”

-“Sh…i…v…a? You are…Shiva!?” Rydia threw herself to the floor and begged for forgiveness “ I am sorry for shouting at you! I did not know you were Shiva, my grandmother’s main summon!”

-“What a devoted little girl…you might have a chance, to learn ‘it’…” whispered Shiva. “Now, take care of yourself, your training will start in two weeks. I hope you’ll be ready, to withstand the power of ice!”

Rydia shivered as she watched Shiva leave the room. She couldn’t imagine in her little head, the difficulty of the challenge that was ahead of her.

Shiva entered the Library’s basement, the throne room of the King and Queen, as well as the battle ground for the Mist Dragon. The beautiful walls were scorched by the flames that had exploded from Rydia’s fingers. It seemed she did not control fire correctly. She had difficulty casting it, and when she gathered the courage to use it, she lost control. She had defeated the Mist Dragon, but also blackened the magnificent marbled walls. Shiva hoped to, by teaching Rydia powerful icy spells, help her control the rage of her fire.

The gorgeous summon bowed before the king and queen of summons.

-“King, May you open the door to the frozen caves of Aisudouketsu? I wish to take Rydia through them, and teach her the power of ice. I know of the dangers, and the reason why you have locked them, but I beg of you, please open them. I am sure Rydia will be able to overcome this difficult task. I believe, that if her determination does not falter, she could learn…the spell.”

-“If you wish to test her this way.” The king lifted his hands, and brought them together with a flash. At the other side of the Land of Summons, a door unlocked. A shriek of lament echoing from the depths of the cave

Rydia was walking towards a small village of Ice Imps, in the Northern section of the Land of Summons. The day she was leaving the hospital, she got a note from Shiva, telling her to be in that village. That her new training was about to begin, that she was going to learn to be one with Ice.

As she arrived to the small agglomeration of houses Shiva had indicated, she noticed the village was deserted. An old imp woman, dressed in dirty rags, came to her and grabbed her, while muttering : “Enter the Aisudouketsu, and be doomed, Enter the Aisudouketsu and you will die, Leave the village, entry to the cave is too hard to resist, leave before you lose your reason!”. Rydia stood there, shocked. She felt a cool breeze, and Shiva appeared before her.

Well, I tried to describe a little more. I also had much less dialogue. Please tell me what you think.
