Another addictive FF game? Perhaps not this time...

Ok, so I just saw another clip to it where he is running through the town, and I am nervous this game is going to be quite weak. First of all the world looks a lot like 10, now I liked 10 but I don't really want to play it again like I did with VII and VIII. Secondly I heard that it may not have a love story but thats not really what is making me anxious, but what actually is, is the what they will try and do with him, I hope they haven't made another emo mess like they did with Tidus. That battle system seems new which could go either way, I grew quite tiresome of the random battle thing when I went through the old ones but now they don't bother me as much. Hopefully it will turn out well...

But yeah, I am just hoping this will live up to the expectations, has anybody here gone through the Japanese version that can just give me a hint whether I will be disapointed or not? I have been waiting a long time for a new FF addiction and from what I have seen there hasn't been much to say it will be something real special.

On a side note from what I have seen of FFXIII, I believe that is going to be the really addictive one but who knows yet

Based on what I heard FFXII is a big hit in Japan. IMO it does seem pretty addictive. For crying out loud, as the days go by I keep telling myself "__ days left till it comes out." I am already obsessing to get it. But on a serious note FFXII battle system seems pretty fun. The towns seem really big. The license grid and really great graphis. New summons and yeah. I usually have the same problems thinking the next FF is going to suck and its just a way some people (like myself) deals with being a big fan of the FF series.

About that love story comment I think thats total rubbish from what i've read. I also watched the opening and from what i've seen it sets it RIGHT up for a nice little love story lol.

The battle system is interesting and I usually get anxious about not being able to understand it like I did with FFX-2. It does seem a little slow and the characters tend to just stand their and get beat up while they hit every now and then. I think its got the potential to be a great style just because FF games are never that interesting while watching a lot of the time..If you go back and play FF7 battle system and still enjoy thats proof your going to enjoy this because its freakin real time!!!!! lol.

Overall i've seen a lot of the japanese version and its nthing to be disapointed about. It reminds me of FF9 but on a much bigger level. I doubt you have anything to worry about the towns either because there is going to be a lot and from the sounds of it you didn't really even know the names of the towns you saw lol....hopefully a little enlightening. ^^

Ok lets get something straight. People say Cloud is emo, people say squall is emo, and now your saying that Tidus was emo? WTF!? That isnt true. Tidus may have been whinny but that doesnt make him emo.

FFXII will be a great game no doubt, as you know it got a 40/40 from Famitsu who has only given 6 perfect scores, FFXII being the sixth.

The absence of a love story isnt a problem with me, cause it was kinda getting old. Every single FF has a love story and its cool untill they overuse it.

Also how can you judge what its going to be like from a clip you saw of the character running through a town...

I personally think that FFXII will be a great game no doubt.

I have mixed feelings of the game.I've played the English demo of it and it was allright.It reminded me of...Well,nothing actually.It just doesn't seem to have that great story like the rest of the Final Fantasy's do.The gameplay is good,but over-exalted.It's fun but you miss the regular fighting in the rest of the FF's.I think the game is bad,the graphics aren't great either.So.......Yeah,sorry,but I don't like it.I say go for DoC.

i have mixed feelings about this game aswell, i mean it looks like tons of fun and i loved the battle system, but i dont know if it can live up to the hype...yeah i know it got 40/40 from famitsu (sp?) but like Halo 2 was wayyy overhyped, and so i never liked it....but idk, the battling is highly addictive, and that island you start on with Vaan reminds me a lot of KH1

How can you make that assumption already when you have hardly heard anything about the story? Dont go into the game already thinking bad of it, otherwise you will be sorely dissapointed with it.

Yes Halo 2 was overhyped, and the reason for that is that Xbox is made by a little company called microsoft. Microsoft has a lot of money and when they knew Halo is the biggest game on Xbox and one of the only reasons some people buy the Xbox they knew that they needed to advertise it soooo much that everyone knew about it, and it worked like a charm. Millions bought that game including me, personally i was also dissapointed with it. This isnt whats happening with FFXII there is no similarities with whats going on with these games so you really cant compare it with Halo 2.

Plus Square has a good reputation for making good RPGs. All of the FF's in the series have been good, excluding FFX-2 and FFXI. The only reason they made FFX-2 and FFXI was to bring new fans to Final Fantasy so those dont count.

I hope so, I loved the concept of the old ones as a new one but I don't think IX really gave it justice, it looks slightly more promising, I wish I had the demo

Cloud Nor Squall were Emo, Cloud was a bit confused but got his head straight. Squall didn't care about them but he wasn't a cry baby. Tidus wasn't exactly emo I think but I didn't like his persona that much. The reason I brought him up was cause he looks gay.

Kind of, the old ones weren't really in depth, in didn't become a big part of the series to 7 and even then the only unique ones were on 7 and 8. But yeah I agree, if they make it good then I don't mind either way. X was terrible imho.

Oh I've seen and heard quite a bit and have been wondering for quite a while, just seen that trailer made me want to know what everybody else though. No doubt will it be another game to add to the collection but it may be more like IX (Which I did like but figured it could have been better) than VII and VIII. I would probably have a better idea but my copy of DQVIII didn't have the demo.

I've never played Halo but I don't think it was overhyped (well not here anyway), but yeah I agree that FF is not comparable to Halo as the fan base is completely differant and its a completely differant series. FFX-2 Shouldn't exist imo and FFXI should have taken away the "XI" name but I can't coment as my ISP is too shitty and I can't afford to play it but I will get it eventually.

Personally from the stuff i've seen and also from watching the opening on the Japanese version (I don't know really anything about the storyline so I might be wrong) but I think that this Final fantasy is going to get very indepth into characters stories and make for a rather dramatic game. I think it is quite possible that the actual story won't be as prominent as FF7 or other previous titles. I am kind of hoping it won't be like this but like Square said when they made Final fantasy 9 they were trying to reach the roots of Final Fantasy and I think thats what their going to be doing again.

Its FFXII. Final. Fantasy. Twelve. I think its bound to have some cool, new and addictive things to it, chaining the game together. The battle system being changed for one. Free-roaming without random battles is well, unlike FF(so far), but hey, the creatures, characters and graphics look great.
Gameplay's bound to follow, and alongside, some sweet mini-games.

ok um... i know its FINAL. FANTASY. TWELVE. but the name of a game does not necessarily make it a good game. im not saying that FFXII is not gonna be good but you cant ALWAYS have high expectations for a game series just cuz you LOVE every other game and stuff... i mean.. look at x-2.... that sucked... i eman.. it was OK... but only ok. but ya i cant wait for the game to come out!! its gonna be AWESOME!!!! lol hahahaha.. ya im just playin with ya. haha..

Supposidly this game a bit hit in Japan, im not worried its going to be boring or slow, from the gameplay ive seen, it looks pretty nice and a fun game to play. The new battle-system will be interesting to experiment with and I dont care if theres no love story to it, I dont play FF for a good romance movie.

I'm not looking forward to this game as much as i would've done if it was a turn based battle system, i've never played XI but real time fighting doesn't have a place in FF games imo.
