Hey what did you guys think of the gummi ship sections in Kingdom Hearts? I myself hated them and could never figure out why they were included. It seemed to me that they really broke up the game. Even worse they went and included them in the second one. ![]() | ||||||||

| | Gummi Ships... Well, yeah, I liked them. I liked that you could have a bunch of different Gummi Ships or even create your Ship and include different colours, weapons, laser, or make it faster and with better protection. You could include a bunh of different blocks, to make it look like you want it, and you could also name it whatever you want. However, eventhough I thought they were fun, in the end, I used that thingy that Cid gives you, to reach other worlds immediately, without having to travel long distances and fight those stupid ships that attacked you.

| | I didn't like them as well, sure it's kinda cool to make your own gummi ship, but after a while it gets boring. I also hated all the extra gummi missions in KH2, I've only done a couple now, but during my first playthrough of KH2 I didn't even bother attempting the gummi missions.

| I HATED the Gummi Ships in the first game. It felt like all of a sudden I was playing one of those cellphone games, but in 3-D and full color. I liked them in the second game though, they were much more enjoyable, and there was a nice variety of music, insted of different versions of the same song. Trying to get an S rank was tough, but they were still a lot cooler and gave you more control. They almost, almost fit into the game.

| I didnt really think much of the gummi ship mini game, in fact if anything i didnt like it. When i beat the game and played it over again i began to like it. Really the best part about it was the ability to customize your ship so much. I made this badass undestructable flying jet tank, with missles and lasers galor. So in the end i thought it was pretty cool.

| | Hated the gummys in the first. Im sorry to say but NEVER go into the gummy builder menu. If its your first time in there it takes so long to listen to Chip and Dale blab. Even through all that talking I still can't figure out how to make my own gummy ship. In KH2 I love the gummy ships and the battles! I like how they are fast pace and you can win cool things and you also go up levels. I still can't make a gummy ship though >.< maybe its for the best xD

| In the first game, gummi ships were little more than annoying diversions. I didn't much care for it and there was no real reason to participate in it. Usually, after a path was opened I'd just warp jump between two points and to hell with upgrades and endless boring sub-par Star Fox rip-offery. However, in the second game, I did find it to be more interesting and enjoyable. In the end, I KIND of like the gummi ships, but I think that it would better serve as a head to head component for the game than as a means of breaking up the story with mindless, plotless action.

| The Gummi Ships were okay in the first one. I liked creating my own ship, and its appearance. It got tedious after a while, but that is what the warp gummi was for. I didn't like it in KH2, I didn't find a create your own ship mode, and the levels with a few exceptions were horrible to me.

| Turning on Extreme, Uber Nerd Mode: First off, I'd like to state that I'm very keen on creating things and designing models, etc. I especially like wasting my time away on architecture programs and constructing never before seen, unique designs and structures. This is possibly why I seemed to find my way into this side game quite easily. I liked the customizable aspect, giving the user the freedom to create basically anything fitting the size limitations introduced in the game. In fact, often I was confronted with the dilema of not being able to expand my ships to the size I needed, somewhat construding the design in the end or making my plans completely unrealisable. However, I also understand that the game was merely a side game and not the core of the title. In this respect, it was quite a good way to pass the time. One point I did dislike however, was, as has already been mentioned by others, the fact that you had no real motivation to build a comprehensive as well as complex Gummi Ship. It was merely something to have fun with if you were truly into the whole customization aspect, but then again, no side game ever introduced in a Squaresoft game forced the player to necassarily play it. Chocobo racing in FFVII was a mere one required race. The card games in FFVIII and FFIX were completely optional. Even Blitzball in FFX was only required as a first introductory match. Of course something speaking against this is that those side games all lead to the recieving of some sort of item and the Gummi ships resulted in.....more gummi pieces (a pointless means to no end if you will). Despite this however, I had a great time being able to test my creativity in building evermore complex ships and designs, making this side game worth while in my opinion. My list of built ships so far (on multiple files of course due to the ship limit imposed):
I have yet to play Kingdom Hearts II and test out the improved Gummi Ship modification system but what I have seen looks quite promising, in terms of what I was missing. Even complexer designs shall ensue once I get it. One question for all that have played KHII...Is the building area expanded in the sequal so that bigger Gummi Ships can be built and is the maximum number of storable Gummi Ships increased?
