Remember when Zidane and the crew come back to Alexander when Dagger is supposed to be made the new queen? And Zidane is all depressed and won't talk to anyone? Even when Dagger walked out in that really pretty dress, he was the only one who didn't have anything to say. In your opinion, do you think Zidane was upset because he actually cared about Dagger and was unhappy since he wouldn't see her very often and stuff, or do you think he was upset because there were no other girls in his group to hit on? Because I thought it was a huge leap from his being all flirty and hitting on Dagger to actually caring about her. What do you say?

Zidane really cared for Dagger, but now since she was going to be a queen he didnt think he would have a chance of being with her anymore since she would have a whole kingdom to rule over.

Yeah i felt that Zidane really cared for for Garnet, its easy to see that. But i agree with yall about how he felt he wouldnt be able to be with her since shes a queen now, but he couldve been depressed since he felt his adventure with her was finally over and he would have to settle down, if he really cared about her

I think it was mostly that he cared about her...but there was probably a part that was because he just wanted to be with her too. It seemed like he would have been completely content just being really good friends and hanging out all the time even without the "lovers" status.

I think Zidane was upset because he thought that if she was now queen then he wouldn't get to flirt with her anymore cos she'd be busy doing her "duties" whilst he'd be worrying about his "duties" to try and get in her underwear. So he cared for her but he also just wanted to get into her underwear.

I agree. I think Zidane really cared for Garnet and as you play thoroughout the game, you can tell that he starts falling at her. At the beginning of the game though when they first met, I thought that he was just trying to get into her pants, but he definitely falls in love with her later on. The funny thing though is Garnet didn't realize how much she loved him until the whole experience happend. Sure, she would have her moments of missing Zidane, but I think that she would try to not fall in love with him, but she couldn't resist.

Zidane really cares for Dagger in a way that's very unique. In ffantasies 7 and 8 Cloud cared for Tifa but he had has issues and then probarly falling for Aeris at the sametime, Squall was clueless to how Rinoa really cared for him but was to cold to care til the ending. And now Zidane shows how much he cares for Dagger more then Cloud and Squall showed there love to the girls that loved them. You guys remember when Dagger seperated from Zidane in lindblum? And then on the boat to Dr. tot's shop she says that Zidane treated her like a child? Well i really noticed a change in her affections like she really missed him. Yup, like that OST from ff8 called " Love Grows " it shows that from their first encounter til the parting after the Necron battle that they truly love each other. Very romantic indeed.

Ya I think the ending sums it up in the sense that it shows she genuinely cares for him and I think he reciprocated that care real well.

I too, think that Zidane was really in love with Garnet at that point, already.

I interpret that part in the story as that Zidane sort of forgot who Garnet really is and was uncosciously planning to have her around, as it was, for ever.
That would have lead to, first a tentative flirting and a serious courting, eventually.
However, now, he is faced with the fact that she is a nation leader and royalty, to boot, while he is just a common thief and a commoner, to boot, making any relationship with her, even tentative flirting, a gross departure from social rules, he can't see himself any farther from her at this point, and unless she makes a move, there is nothing for him to do.
So, now, the ladie's man find himself in love with the one woman he can't conquer.
I would be in a funk, too, if I would be in his place!.

At that point in the game Zidane cared for Dagger a lot, and Dagger cared for Zidane a lot. When Dagger is becoming the queen you see this cause Zidane falls into a depression.
