I have to agree that in FFVIII, they weren't really much use. But in FFVII, and FFIX, they were really fun. They're probably fun in FFXI, too. But I have yet to witness that.

I didnt like the using the chocobos in 8 either. But in other games, they are fun to use. Especially in 9 when you have to find a chocograph that was buried under the ground. That mini-game was fun. I find them useful because you dont have to run into random encounters whenever you dont want to. But in 7 and X-2, I wasnt very good at capturing them. I was always to slow.

I never ever found Chocobos to be useless. I love them and liked it whenever they appeared on the screen. I know they didn't have much use in VIII but they were still always great to see. I love them and without them, the game wouldn't be as good. I wish they had Chocobos in Advent Children!

Yeah as said Chocobos are really useful in FFVII and FFIX but in FFVIII and X they really sucked, but they were fun to see hanging around especially in FFX when you could talk to them and they'd make a weird noise

Supposidly Chocobos are fun to use in FFXI but online FF sucks I think.

Technically they're "pointless" in all games because it's not at all necessary to use them at all except for maybe one or two little things.

However, they're a lot of fun, so I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to. And yes, the Chocobos in XI are very fun, as it would take 20 minutes to run anywhere without them. >.>; They have the great music for 'em, too. Chocobo music is half the reason to even get on one, in my opinion. XD

I really hope that a future entry has chocobo breeding, again. It was one of the highlights of VII and I would like to see an enhanced version of it. Square seems set on changing chocobos' functions in every game, though so its probably unlikely.

Well I only played I,II,IV,V,VI,X,X-2 so I don't know if they were usless in all the others but in VI there are pointless. In X they are usful for not getting in a encounter with a bad guy. In 2 it was pointless and in iv and V there were useful. In IV it helped me for leveling up up useing cure and then restoring my MP.

Sometimes they are useless, and other times they get you good items. I mainly use them when I don't want to run into a battle.

I go with what most people say, even if there's no real point to it,(Depending on the game) But still cool to see around and ride. Chocobo's are awesome~!
