Question Lord of the Rings vs Star Wars

I feel this would be the question of whether you like movies set in the medieval fantasy times or set in furturistic space enviroments. Plus these two movies are the definition of each. Also to make it fair I will say the original 3 Star Wars movies instead of the new ones.

Growing up I never really took much attention to the Star wars series, Star Trec(sp) use to play on TV during the our boring sunday afternoons but I would just switch on a video game or go outside or something. At the time there wasn't really any decent medi-eval movies that caught me so I got most of my fix from the FF series.

I use to find Star War'esq movies rather boring but it really depends on the show, Star Wars is pretty cool but most of the shows I just find boring. Overall I would have to say my vote goes to Lord of the Rings.

Well, I like both movies, but out of the two I'd pick Star Wars because I've seen all, if not, most of the movies, and I haven't seen many of the Lord of the Rings movies. (Only saw the first or second one I think)

I hate it when there are only two to chose from and theres no third one saying, there both great. But i said star wars. Why? it has loads of fans, loads games, the films are being remade and in total with all six of there films, have made more money that LOTR.

The Star Wars series is by far better than Lord of the Rings because the whole story to Star Wars is so great and special to me, after watching it, my imagination totally opened up and I used to make my own Star Wars stories with my figures, good times. The LOTR series is very good but it didnt do anything for me, sure it had a great story but I dont like the whole medieval look.

Obviously you have not even heard of the whole LOTR story.

It started out in Tolkien's book "Silmarillion" and continued through the book "The Hobbit" that was about Smeagol, how he found or rather stole the ring and finally it all ended in LOTR.
I have not read any of the books but I know they are all a lot better than the movies and the story in the movies is slightly changed. I'm just pointing out that there is more to LOTR than what you apparently know.

That aside, I simply cannot choose. Both series has been my favorites for a long time but what made Star Wars so incredible (the three first) was that the special effects was so far ahead of it's time.
Simply amazing to watch and an awesome storyline.

I can say the same about LOTR except for the time thing because all the movies are relatively new and it is easier to make effects now.

Both are awesome and I worship both the medieval orc Vs humans and Science Fiction themes. It's a bit like StarCraft Vs WarCraft I cannot really choose there either. But I slightly prefer the medieval theme I guess so that is what I'm gonna vote.

ALL HAIL BOTH THE POWER OF THE SITHS AND THE POWER OF MORDOR!!!!

Lord of the Rings! Definitely LOTR.

I like Star Wars as well but I prefer Lord of the Rings any day. I actually liked LOTR before Star Wars anyway. I only started liking Star Wars recently.

Lord of the Rings is such an epic, based on some of the greatest books in the world. The battles in the films are incredible and very detailed. The storyline alone is wonderful. A hobbit decides to try and destroy the ring of power with his best friend. They others believe that he will never get there but Frodo and Sam prove them wrong and become heroes. It proves that almost anyone can do anything they want if they have hope. It's really nice. I know a lot of people whinge about the movies being too long but I reckon they are the perfect size. If they were any shorter, they would have cut out way too much of the storyline.

The only thing I dislike about LOTR is Gollum, I'm sorry but I find him to be the worst character ever. He just annoys me so much and I want to strangle him lol. I think Sam does too, I really don't blame him. Most of the characters are wonderful and I just think they are a great series. There's plenty of action in it, especially ROTK. Oh and Gimli is awesome LOL.

LOTR for me! Star Wars is cool as well but I loooove LOTR.

To me... this is like saying:
"Who would you rather save. Your girlfriend, or your mom?"
Both movies are so good.
annd. I dont think i can answer this one.
Though... George Lucas compells me to select LotR.
Cause i'm not a big fan of George Lucas anymore.

I select LotR

Star Wars had better characters. Plus, we are voting on the movie LOTR right? Not the book. The books were better than the movie. If you base only on the movie I have to go with Star Wars.

Lord of the Rings or Star Wars

I love both to be honest they have both a good storylines and both have got trilogys. It is sad that anakin turns to the dark side then he dies in number six but the good thing is he iswith Obi-wan and Padme in heaven. Luv them to bits lol.

Well Lord of the Rings or Star Wars?. Really a very difficult question to answer. Both are epic films with a lot of funs. Their actors were also top. I prefer Lord of the Rings because it was allready a myth before the movie. A lot of good actors have also played at the movie and the technicals effects were also incompetable. Although Star Wars is a very good movie The Lord of the Rings is the best movie ever.

I think they're both pretty awesome series. But if I had to choose... I'd probably say Lord of the Rings. I prefer the whole medieval thing, and it had great imagination and the films were really well made. But Star Wars was still pretty damn good.

Taking in consideration that Star Wars as a whole has licked anal holes filled with excrement ever since The Return Of The Jedi(i hate the ****ing Ewoks to death). The Lord Of The Rings

I'm a huge fan of the SW universe, i have to acknowledge that the SW movies suck except for a couple of scenes in each movie that ****ing rock(except for The Empire Strikes Back which is pure AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!! all the way), i tend to preferr the books and comics than the actual movies. And even so, the books of LOTR are by far superior and the movies are just on a level that George Lucas never will be able to attain even if he lived for 5000 years(just as the Wachowski brothers).

I hate you Lucas and your fucking ewoks

haha, that made me laugh so I quoted it.

anyway, I've only seen the Star Wars movies. I'm a fan, I even used to read the books. Lord of the Rings doesn't really appeal to me, so I haven't really watched it.

but when the time comes, I'm sure I'd enjoy LOTR.

Damn, both were good. Kinda thinking that I should go with LOTR tho.

Kinda similar to choosing between different final fantasy games. Some are medieval type while others are more futuristic. Does your movie choice reflect your choice for favorite FF game? For me it seems to as my favorites are I, IX, and XI......lol sounds like a new thread to me.

At one time I would have said Star Wars without a doubt, but now that I have seen the first three episodes...

Star Wars does generally have better, or more rememberable characters then the Lord of the Rings, but the LotR has more depth, and both the story and history is richer then that of Star Wars, although Star Wars history is by far longer.

The LotR seems more to emotionally touch and inspire you, where as Star Wars seems more to mentally engage and amaze you.

My opinion is on both, they are equally as good just in different ways.

I like Star Wars much better. Lord of the Rings was a little boring at times and Star Wars is more of a family film.
