Damn, both were good. Kinda thinking that I should go with LOTR tho.

Kinda similar to choosing between different final fantasy games. Some are medieval type while others are more futuristic. Does your movie choice reflect your choice for favorite FF game? For me it seems to as my favorites are I, IX, and XI......lol sounds like a new thread to me.

At one time I would have said Star Wars without a doubt, but now that I have seen the first three episodes...

Star Wars does generally have better, or more rememberable characters then the Lord of the Rings, but the LotR has more depth, and both the story and history is richer then that of Star Wars, although Star Wars history is by far longer.

The LotR seems more to emotionally touch and inspire you, where as Star Wars seems more to mentally engage and amaze you.

My opinion is on both, they are equally as good just in different ways.

I like Star Wars much better. Lord of the Rings was a little boring at times and Star Wars is more of a family film.

Lord of the Rings books absolutely rapes Star Wars. The books are works of greatness.

But then Star Wars was very ahead of its time, when it came out, in my eyes George Lucas created the greatest bad guy to have ever lived; Darth Vader.

The Lord of the Rings films versus the original Star Wars trilogy films. It is too close to call. If you counted all 6 Star Wars maybe then it would just pip Lord of the Rings to the post. But that is not what you said so...

I love Lord of the Rings but leaving important parts out like the spoiling of the shire is a disgrace, not including Christopher Lee in the theatrical version of Return of the King, is punishable by death.

If they had got it right (according to what I believe should've been included/excluded) then I say Lord of the Rings, but only just.

No offense to Star Wars fans, I'm just not a big fan of it. I like LoTR better. I liked all three movies, and the videogames as well. The actors did a really good job in the movie, and the plot is really cool too.

This is a hard choice..going on movies alone i would say Lord of the Rings simply because the sour taste some of the newer Star Wars movies left in my mouth.

Both have some great games though, that's for sure.

Being as I grew up reading Lord of the Rings as well as the Hobbit and many of Tolkien's books, I have to go with Lord of the Rings.

I have one thing to say about both franchies though: each one is so much more than a series. Both Lucas and Tolkien created WORLDS with these franchises. I mean you can find books depicting the HISTORY of middle earth. That to me is something special, to be able to create an entire world, complete with a history, countries, maps, family trees, etc.

Star Wars and Lord of the Rings were great in my opinion...

I prefer LotR more though... Not sure why though.....

The point is that both of them were pretty good...

When it comes to Space I tend to fall for Star Trek more than Star Wars. An when it comes to Fantasy it doesn't really matter. Tough descison, but I am going to go with LOTR. This is because I am more of a Trekker, so giving Star Wars props is not me, Lol. I also think that LOTR was very well done. I enjoyed the fighting an the intertwined love story with that hunk.
