sequel to FFIX ?

Probably not, I don't know how they could make a sequel anyway. If they did, I don't think it'd be very successful, better to keep it the way it is.

There is nothing more to make a sequel off of for FFIX. It had a rather neatly tied off ending. Even FFX had a mostly tied off ending, but since it was not a happy ending, there was room to grow. FFIX was a happy ending, everything worked out in the end. A sequel would be a waste of Square Enix time. The game is great just as it is, do not need to ruin it with a sequel.

Well said, after FFX-2 you would actually trust Square to make a sequal for it? It would just ruin FFIX just like FFX-2 ruined FFX, FFX-2 ruined it for me. I would rather Square make newer Final Fantasy games, instead of remaking FF games or making sequals to FF games.

X-2 didn't ruin X at all, if you don't like it then don't play it, simple as that. No one is forcing you to play the sequel, after all.

And technically all Final Fantasy games after I are sequels, they just aren't continuations. So they are making sequels and new games at the same time. Imagine that.

Anyways, I highly doubt any sequel to IX will ever be considered. As Andro pointed out, all the loose ends are tied up and everyone was happy, so there's just nothing more they can do for the game. Just because a game is good doesn't mean that it should have a sequel in my opinion, since if there's nothing to expand on then there's going to be a real lack of coherent story. Basically, it would be fan service. Lots of pretty characters but little to no plot line.

You're wrong Dragonheart, a sequel must continue the story. Like X and X-2, not every game after FF I is a sequel.
And FF IX doesn't need a sequel, it was wrapped up nicely and the original was a good game.

Hence why I said technically, because they aren't true sequels, yet they are still united under one name. And not all sequels are direct continuations of a previous story, they may reference it but never have anything to do with the past events. Happens in movies, books, all forms of media basically. Games are no different.

I think that's just as improbable as a sequel. There just isn't enough material to make a sequel/prequel work since you already find out basically everything over the course of the game, and then everything ends very well at the end. No loose ends, no extra villains floating around, just one rebuilt world and some happy heroes.

I would like to see a FFIX-2, but not before there is a FFVII-2 and FFVIII-2. Seeing as FFIX was a lot less popular I doubt it will happen, let alone the slim chance of VII-2 and VIII-2.

No more sequels!!Although I did read an article about a possible FFX-3. But I'm pretty sure theres not gonna be one. Anyway,why would they make a sequel to this one? Its the least popular FF game,and the ending was solid. It wasn't like X where Tidus "disappeared" and they could possibly bring him back in x-2.Thats the only reason they made an x-2,to try to make you think Tidus was being brought back. Also like I said IX is pretty solid for the ending. If they tried to make a sequel it would possibly be pretty much very similar to IX.

Nah they wont make it , but none the less if they did i would want to see a prequal on the tales of Zidanes group ( I can't remember the name

) i think that would be kinda fun to see but i dont wanna see a FFIX-2 anyway
