AF question

Right... I wanted to come hea and ask a question about a certain item in the game. I come hear to ask because I feel somepage and ala have lost their touch. I know might cover this section at either site, but... I feel it easier for myself to ask and gt a more direct answer.

When using the Samurai job and upon reaching level 40.... who do I speak with to flag the AF weapon quest for it?

Thanks in advance...

I don't see how you can't find it in somepage.com, wasn't that hard at all.

http://ffxi.somepage.com/questdb/353

But of course, when it comes to more in depth on where to go, what to do and stuff, somepage.com lacks a lot. You can always try Allakhazam.com. I like that site a lot in that people can make comment on the quest sharing information on their experience in doing the quest.

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/quests...lm=&fquest=250

Then again, besides those two, there is always the lovely MysteryTour. I know its English isn't the best, but you gotta know that the site is originally Japanese and the webmaster was kind enough to translate everything for the English players. MysteryTour covers a lot of things too and its tables make lists and lists of various things easy to look at.

http://mysterytour.web.infoseek.co.j...t0/005q-af.htm

However, if you're still lazy to click on the links yourself, here is a short summary of what you need to do for the samurai's artifact weapon quest.

First and foremost, have you saved your mumeito great katana that you get from when you first got your samurai flag? If you somehow tossed it away you can always go back to Jaucribaix, the NPC for the SAM flag quest and also AF1 quest, pay a certain amount of gil and get it back. I think the amount was 30,000 gil and you can only get it back after you accepted the quest. Of course, if you didn't toss it away, you don't need to pay Jaucribaix to get another one.

Anyway, Jaucribaix will ask you for some scales. In order to get the scales you will need a sack of fishbait which can be dropped from Goblin Robbers in the Sanctuary of Zi'Tah. After you get the fishbait, you will have to go to E-8 near a lake in Zi'Tah and trade to a ??? to spawn a pugil NM. Upon killing the pugil, you can examine the ??? again for the scales you need for the quest. When you have the scales, just go back to Jaucribaix and trade him the mumeito great katana and you'll be done.

I would like to add that when defeating the pugil, Isonade, bring some friends. >.>; Even on my Dragoon I had trouble with the thing simply because it attacks so damned fast. Even with my low defense it didn't hit especially hard though. Midlevel Ninja might have trouble tanking it but a Paladin would do just fine. High level Thief, Ninja, or Red Mage could easily solo it, I think. Or crazy Dragoon/White Mages like me.

Solo'd it easily as 75mnk/nin btw when I accepted it as a mercenary job few months ago.
Made 250K with it ^^
I suppose most 75 jobs with /nin can easily solo it if they're not gimp.

Peace out

Hell, even BRD/NIN can solo it if he or she know what to do, and BRD is infamously known as the worst solo'ing job ever, lol.

Yeah, being lv 75 is not saying a lot and you solo a level 40ish monsters even a NM. It probably is like 45, but still it is not much. I mean I solo'd a Water Elemental and a Light Elemental as a PLD for my BLM AF. And fighting elementals physically is not always the best idea. But hey PLD/WHM can take on just about anything it wants to solo up to a certain level.

Well yeah, anything can solo with utsu: ni, but jobs with crap evasion, like say Dragoon >.>; , get almost no benefit at all from that sub. I was just pointing out that not everyone can solo that fish hehe, I almost learned the hard way. It's rather difficult to do any healing when you've got a psycho fishy smacking you around. That was awhile ago for me though so I'd probably have a much easier time now, with my AF2 helmet and much improved parrying skill. But still, he can be an annoying little NM.

Thank you all... Yeah... I didn't solo it, but upon realizing its method of battle after fighting it... I might of been able to. Of course it would of taken longer as a SAM40/WAR20 but... with 3-4 x-potions in stock and staying clear of others beasts.... meh. Two hour... 2 consectutive one man skillchains. Starting out 300 tp already stored with the ability to meditate after 2 hour. It would of been possible. XD

The reason as to why I chose to ask here instead of look there is simple... look at all the replys. I doubt I'd get such a response from them. But... meh. Thanks.
