I love them so much.

They're birds... In FF9, you can use them to find hidden treasures and gain sidequests. They also let you travel without running into random battles. In FF9 you have to evolve them to let them go over all different terrain.

basically you bring you chocobo to the different chocobo gardens and do the dig game, somethmes you will dig up maps called chocographs, these will lead you to a place on the world map were you have to dig with you chocobo to get the treasure. try it dude you get some very good stuff for you chars belive me .

This thread seems a little spammy to me... and I think if it is kept open by the moderators it will probably be moved to "General Final Fantasy".

As for chocobos, I like them. They're a nice, conveniant and natural way of moving around. Airships are faster, but chocobos are good. My favorite has to be the mountain chocobo. Mainly because green is my favorite colour, but also because they revolutionise getting around a continent by letting you cross mountain ranges. If course, the most useful overall is the gold chocobo, being able to cross anywhere, but mountain is my favorite.

I rely on chocobos mainly earlier in the games, as Airships are a lot more conveniant when you obtain them. The chocobo minigames are quite fun too, plus the animals are cute.

Chocobos evolve throughout the treasures that you play even though people already mentioned that, but in this game they are somewhat of a big role in the game and the Hot/Cold game is so much fun.

i didnt like hot and cold as much as chocobo racing, i got irritated at times when time was about to run out and he'd go KWEH!!!! 200 odd under ground, meaning i missed something good ¬¬

They are very, very important... In side-quests... I love Chocobos well that's just me.

chocobo's are a major part in most final fantasy's and dont forget about the treasures you can get with the dead peepers like freyas weapon dragon hair and the ultima weapon also you can go to chocobo paradise and mog net central with them its possible to get to mognet central with a red chocobo and also the chocobo racing on final fantasy 7 was awesome i used to do it all the time best chocbo mini game i think and i think the ff9 one got a bit to boring at times the racing didnt though cause you had to feed catch the chocbo's etc

Like everyone else said Chocobos are big birds that can dig up treasures in Final Fantasy IX. With a chocobo you could play the chocobo hot and cold game which was one of the best minigames of all time! You could get many rare items and weapons from this. Also I believe that if you walk on every beach you can heal yourself on any beach with a chocobo(?) I hope I'm not just making that up. Anyways they are very useful and fun to ride.
