So yeah, I'm a metalhead, that's pretty much you could add to my list, not metal bands that i like? mostly those that have a metal past, like Ulver and Aeon Spoke.

I'm also a bitch for venezuelan and colombian folk music; specially Venezuelan Romance. I like boleros and tangos too.

I don't like mexican rancheras or texmex

Due to some childhood issues, i kinda like disco music, specially the BeeGees and AbbA.

I listen to some latin rock like Juanes, La Ley, Ely Guerra, Mana and some other of these crappy bands that have no real talent but draw me like a bastard(except for La Ley, they're very talented, but they're faggots and I love them).

I may have misread something, or perhaps I put too much thought into something else, but all I can gather from this particular post is maybe three things. First, it is some sort of requirement that you listen to opera if you listen to metal, as when you delve deeper into the latter genre, they take on characteristics of the former. Second, that if you listen to metal but do not enjoy opera, it is impossible and you are an imbecile. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I doubt I am.

Musical tastes differ from person to person; simply because you enjoy two genres because of similiarities does not mean another person will feel the same way, or that it is necessary to enjoy both particular things in order to enjoy one of them.

I understand how both genres are similiar, but basically telling a person "no" because of their personal preferences is kind of ignorant.

I enjoy opera and I enjoy the occasional bout of "metal", but I disagree.

Huzzah!

Music that has grinding and shredding agony, blasting decay of the flesh, and the lament of being burned and eaten alive. Oh wait, you were asking for genres?

Mostly Death Metal or Thrash Metal, though I do find some charm in the likes of black metal, doom metal, sludgecore, grindcore, Jpop, Jrock, classical, symphony, folk, and opera.

How long post here should be...? Just thinking...

Well being Finnish I listen mostly Finnish Pop-Rock. We have own radio channel to it and I listen it pretty much. There is one speaker that talks sex sometimes so it is fun to listen it.

Of course I listen other music than just Finnish. Mostly Pop-Rock and little bit emo. But I don't listen that so much than that radio channel. I like more radio than listening CDs and stuff like that.

You're right. I should have better worded such a request to listen to a different genre. I believe that one should try all things before you say, "Eek, **** no!" You know, listening to something once or twice shouldn't make you hate something.

I wasn't trying to "push" opera on this person at all. It seemed like it, I know, but I wasn't. It came out wrong. Meh, next time it'll be different.

Ah, I've been listening to alot of early-mid 90's stuff. It's good shit. Ah, I didn't think User Name was pushing Opera onto that guy, Alex. Relax, and listen to some Spin Doctors :]

EDITED BY TACO: Let's just drop the issue now, please. Nothing against you personally, Jet, but we should move on now. There was a misunderstanding, but it seems to be sorted out.

Melodic Death Metal.

EDITED BY TACO: Again with the one word posts not being good posts, and adding more content therein, like a full sentence/complete thought.

Just wondering, Do you listen to any metal? At least, maybe some of the finnish metal bands like Nightwish, Ensiferum, Wintersun, Sentenced etc.?

I am a huge metal fan, love all genres of it except for Metalcore, I also like some J-Pop, some Pop, classic Rock, anime and video game music (especially RPG music).

I really like lots of different kinds of music. If I have not heard of something I hear someone mention I usually look it up an check it out. I like to sing R&B, Country. I like to listen to Heavy Metal, Rock, Alternative. I like to relax to Jazz,Classical, Oldies, Soft Rock, and love songs. I like to Dance to Techno, Rap, and R&B as well. I love the sound track to Castlevania too. So sound goes on when I play my favorite game.

Favorite Bands: Metallica, GNR
Singers: Alicia Keys, and Brandy Norwood.

My taste in music changes all the time though. I like to be versitile, and it helps me connect with friends too. Which is never a bad thing, Lol.

I haven't posted in here it seems...

I listen to many genres ranging from Viking Metal, Black/Thrash/Doom/Death/80's/Heavy Metal, a bit of old school rock, I use to like Punk and hardcore but Anarchists piss me off. I enjoy a lot of Classical and Ambient depending on what I am doing and I love folk-music especially Icelandic folk. At times I also enjoy game and Anime music and have a few albums.

Noup. I really don't listen much metal of any that is harder than rock. But Nightwish is my favorite band because you can't say that is metal. I don't think that is metal. Ensiferum I started listening because Wintermetal suggested it. But some of them songs are too heavy to me. And I have heard only one song from Sentenced and Children of Bodom.

List of rcok/metal bands that I have on computer: Ac/Dc, Alice Cooper, Ensiferum, Evanesense, Lordi, Nightwish, Sentenced, Sonata Artica, System Of A Down, Wasp

All of those bands I have one or two songs. Nightwish and Ensiferum I have more but really, I don't listen much metal.

Ensiferum is a favorite of mine, and some of my favorite bands are Finnish metal bands, such as Wintersun who I will be seeing live the weekend after this coming one, in Germany at Wacken Open Air.

As for Nightwish, they are indeed metal, Power Metal.

Yes. Wikipedia says same. But when thinking Nightwish isn't so much metal like Evanesence or Laguna Coil etc. Nightwish is more like opera metal or better name to it...Symphonic power metal...

Oh, it has power metal...but I still prefer that is more like opera metal than power metal.
