Now for all of you who watched the World Cup Final you should know what happened between Zidane and Materazzi. Zidane being for France and Materazzi for Italy obviously. For those of you who didn't watch the game and don't really know what happened, feel free to post your opinion as I will now briefly explain what happened. Materazzi was behind Zidane when he leant forward and pinched Zidane's nipple (ok it's funny, try not to laugh, this is a serious matter...ok it's funny) in a desperate attempt to get Zidane angry and sent off so Italy could stand a chance of beating France in penalties. (There were only a few minutes left of stoppage time) When Materazzi didn't get a responce from Zidane, he said to him "Your the son of a Muslim terrorist h**r. (sorry about the language, I need to say it to explain the situation) In Zidane's last ever football match in his career, he turned around and headbutted Materazzi in the chest and Materazzi fell the the ground. Zidane was eventually red carded and the game went to penalties and they lost. Right then, I have a few questions for you: What do you think about Materazzi insulting Zidane's mum? Do you think Zidane was right to headbutt Materazzi? What would you have done if you were in Zidane's shoes. (Consider it is the World Cup final and it is the last ever football match in your long career) What would you have done if you were in the referee's shoes? Who would get what cards? Just a few points you may want to discuss.

666 | I'd have gave them both red cards, Materazzi was just looking to wind him up, and provoke a reaction (which he got unfortunately). Zidane should have ignored it and been the bigger man, although hard. Neither set the right example football should be trying to set.

1,720 | I'm glad of the way Zidane reacted. Materazzi was being a twat by twisting his nipple and insulting his mum. I'm glad he hedbutted the guy! What a glorious way to end your career as a footballer... even if they did loose! That was a memorable match. It wouldn't of been the same if that didn't happen!

629 | Yeah valentine, I totally agree with you, to be honest, I don't blame Zidane for the way he reacted, Materazzi insulted his mum so I think he reacted in a reasonable way. I think Materazzi should have been punished too but the rule is that if the referee or linesmans don't see it, they cannot punish the player. In this case, they didn't hear what Materazzi had said and don't even know if he had said anything in the first place! I think Zinedine Zidane is a legend for what he did. I mean come on, that's not a bad way to end his career is it. I will never forget that world cup final. I could watch zidane headbutting materazzi all day long and not get bored. GOOD ON YA ZIDANE!!

666 | Ok, I did laugh out loud when I watched it, but they are trying to make football into a clean game. I realise Zidane probably only did it because it was his last match but still. There's is nothing wrong with fighting back, but that wasn't a situation that needed it.

629 | Im not sure I agree entirely, yes it is a football match and it isn't a good influence on younger kids when they see their heroes fighting other players in matches. It isn't showing a very good example and it makes football look like a sport for hooligans. ~~~~~ BUT ~~~~~ I do think that Zidane was right to react the way he did, maybe he should have thought about the consequences before he acted but it wasn't as if Materazzi went "ur mum". He did say very offensive things about her and if that was me, I wouldn't have that either.

2,174   | What he did was wrong, but I certainly enjoyed it. Many rumors are being told, but the true scenario hasn't been revealed yet, not until Zidane himself talks. Materazzi already gave his version but I'd rather believe the french guy over the Italian. I mean Zidane looks a lot more honest than the italian chap. In one case, Materazzi called him a " Dirty terrorist ". Another " You're sister is a bitch " Of course, Materazzi denied all that. I just read that when he grabbed his shirt, Zidane looked at him with huge arrogance and told him: If you want my shirt, I'll give you one after the game ". So the italian insulted Zidane (didn't say what he told him) wich cause the enormous bull-like head butt. Other report say that what Materazzi might have told him was " I'd rather take your wife's shirt off " Anyways, so many versions, who knows what's true. Not until Zidane talks....

629 | Yeah of course we don't know exactly what it was yet but all we know is that Materazzi definitely did say something which was malicious enough to make Zidane headbutt him in the chest. But to be honest, I don't care what it was for, I certainly enjoyed it. By the way, anyone, if you manage to get a video clip of Zidane headbutting Materazzi, please post the link because I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say I would love to see it!

3,101 | I thought they were both pretty silly about their actions. I don't think that was a glorious way to end a career. He headbutted another person. I know the the other guy was being rude but he should have just shrugged it off instead of being given a red card for hurting him. Both of them were stupid, they should have concentrated on winning the World Cup instead of ruining it for the others. I suppose it was entertaining for everyone else though lol. He could have punched him instead of headbutting him though, that was just silly! | ||||||||
