Family Guy .VS. American Dad

I enjoyed American Dad although it is a rip off of Family Guy, in animation terms. The humour is the same but different enough for it to stand out.

I guess I like them them about the same, but if I had to choose, it'd be American Dad.

American Dad is just a politically charged version of Family Guy. It has it's moments, but I'll only watch it as a last resort. I mean, the setup is almost a cookie cutter of Family Guy, for chrissake. Instead of a talking evil baby and a talking dog, you have a horny talking fish and a gay alien. Whoop de doo

American Dad to me is a one-joke.... pony. It's always about the Government and the far right. Maybe it was designed to be that way, but that's not my fault. I mean, there has been at least one episode I thought was funny (one with Patrick Stuart) but most of it, to me, has been "eh *shrug*."

In any case, Family Guy is the "original" (if you forget The Simpsons exist) and is far more funny than American Dad. The characters have a lot more that they can joke about. It doesn't revolve around Peter's views on the world, or anything, and it mostly revolves around Brian and Stewie. Actually, that's the reason I like Family Guy better; it has Brian and Stewie. They're the most original characters on the show, probably.

I never really watched American Dad. Only a few minutes of it. I think Family Guy is much more entertaining and funny. I would only watch American Dad if there wasnt anything else on, or if i was waiting for something to come on.

Well of course the animations are the same since it's the exact same people that made Family Guy. That's like saying The Simpsons and Futurama had similar animations (which they did).

Personally, I like American Dad. Then again, it's still not as good as Family Guy. That show is the epitomy of animated humour. But American Dad also helps pass the time and I won't be so radical as to say that I will only watch it when nothing else is on. I prefer that over Rush Limbaugh any day.

I think they were both really funny. I would say that American Dad is probably better but make no mistake about it, Family Guy is brilliant!!! Both of them have me in fits. American Dad is great because the son (don't know his name, shows how I only watch it occasionally!) is such a little geek and his dad wants him to be so cool. lol hehe

The best character on American Dad is by far the little Japanese friend of the son. His evil conniving schemes are never understood by anybody. Making fun of the typical Japanese person is funnier than anything else. That guy kicks!!!!

Family guy would own it, American dad is a cheap rip off of Family guy although it can be funny at times it can't hold a candle to Family guy.

I actually like both of them the same. They are both really funny even if American Dad is a rip off of Family Guy, I don't really care that it is! They are both great shows overall. They are similar but oh well, they both have random funny moments and the characters are all pretty cool. I started watching American Dad first, I used to hate Family Guy! Thanks to American Dad... I like both of them now!

I haven't had the chance to watch American Dad yet. OF course it seems like a ripoff; it's called a SPINOFF. Remember that: SPIN. OFF. The same people that do FG do AD! ...though the animation reminds me of early Family Guy (from what I've seen anyways); no TV makes Anthiena a very bored shadow.

Although American Dad is very humorously funny. It lacks the tack, and puns that Family guy has. I , however, think that Family guy sometimes goes over board with the flashbacks, but a lot of the time they are funny. Espeacially the things that makes absolutly no sense. American Dad gets too serious for a comedy cartoon. An the political stuff makes it even worse at times. That an Francine is not as hawt as Lois. So rating wise I think Family Guy will come out on top. I am glad they brought Family Guy back.

In an actualy fight I think american dad would win. He is a little bit more Crzy. Were as Peter is more the street fighting idiot.

Xu is right american dad is NOTHING compared to family guy man family guy is the best u know wat u should put is SIMPSON vs FAMILY GUY since the simpson have been hitting hard for years and family guy is going to be there at the end = )
