I have to disagree with you Kyle....sorry but people underestimate her a lot. Like Andro said, she's a more of developed secondary character with a lot background. I liked how they reveal her past slowly in the game and as the game progresses she really has one of the many strongest background stories in the game. And its sad in the game when Sir Fratley doesn't remember her. That shits messed though...

I think, for once, everything I had to say has been said by another, I think Andromeda's answer sums up most of my feelings on teh character, however I would like to add just a little more.

I think the constant emotions of the characters, which is partially new to FF (Looking back at 7 that is). By which I mean, Freya and Vivi constantly thought and mentioned their problems throughout the storyline, Vivi was always sad, its teh same with Freya, this dragged you into the plot a hell of alot more the first real emotional bit for me in Freyas sub-plots was her entrance to Gizamalukes Grotto, when she found the guards, the first thing she mentions is the king giving her character more realism within the narrative and plot, it gave the plot more substance and depth to play. Bermucia and Cleyra just added to this, I remember feeling so much sorrow as she watched her people die, then to add to that pain Sir Fratley, it was a fantastically detailed sub-plot that is worthy of mention.

I also think her introduction is one of the best in the entirity of the FF series, her joking around with Zidane made her ease into the party more so than certainly the likes of Quina and Eiko were, they were seemingly forced into the plot, kind of crammed in with no real meaning.

In short, Freya was an extremely integral part of FFIX in that she made the plot run smoothly in teh first 2 disks and added to group strength in later battles too.

By 'constant emotions I reffered to things such as, Barret, how after leaving Corel we never heard much about what happened, sure we learned about it, it was fairly clear, but its just, somthing that drastic, I think it may have more of an effect on the party than it did. Also I cant comment on 6, I have never played it.
I wasnt reffering to X either as that one kept the emotions going all the way through, this is why I said it was partially new to FF, I didnt mean to poke holes in the other games, mearly stating oppinion.

"Constant emotions" of the characters? I'm not quite sure what you mean by that. I do believe, however, that if you look past FF7 to FF6, the charcters in that game showed their emotions quite frequently, as well. But that's a different discussion entirely.

Anyhoo, Freya was my favorite character in the game. I'm not fully sure why; I just found her to be the most interesting. She was a rat dragoon, so that's pretty cool, I guess. Plus, her story intrigued me. I was really disappointed, though, that her story suddenly cuts out in the middle of disk 2, and never really starts up again.

I suppose the explanation Andromeda gave, that she's basically a very detailed secondary character, helps to make sense of that. Still, there was a really cool story going there, and I feel that it kind of got cut off like halfway through, and given a thrown on ending

Spoiler: "Oh, I'm back with Fratley, but he still doesn't remember me." What makes you think he isn't going to take off on you again once he does remember you, sister? He's done it before already.

I dunno, I guess I just would've liked a lot more closure to her story. Anyhoo...

*Ok heres the thing,i really thought freya was a guy but when i knew she was a woman it kinda wore me down.knowing that shes a dragoon,a fighting class,she should have been better as a bad ass man!

*as for her in the game,shes quite powerful and useful.she has abilities that really serve you wel in hard battles.i even used her to defeat ozma,i used her regen all ability and her dragons crest!very powerful causeing the max damage 9999!thats not all shes very agile and her jump ability can really make her a formidable foe!

*As for her story i found it a bit corny because i see those kind of thins in the dramas in the television,well its her part thoughmim sure the ladis think its so tragic and romantic at the same time but as fr the guys...ewww well atleast shes a bad ass spear weilding dragoon,her face looks like a horse not a rat too!

*Ultimately shes not bad shes a really good character in the game,reliable and cool at the same time!

SHe was my second favorite fighting character, next was Vivi cause..he is just cool. But as for the story, I didn't really like it all to much with her, very cheesy and the whole sir fratly thing was annoying. she should have been a guy that would have been bad ass. but yea thats what i think about her.

Freya's always in my party. She's badass, and I love her attacks.
I also loved Cleyra the best of all the towns in the game, mainly because of her.

Of all the playable characters in the game, there is only one whom I refuse to replace for any reason. Freya. She is my favorite of the good guys and second only to Kuja in my book. I'm quite partial to dragoons, but she went a step further than most in that she didn't just have the lance and the abilities, but the full lifestyle of the dragon knight. That along with her personality and background was more than enough to earn her a top spot on my list.

I agree with you, unlike some of the other characters expect Steiner, Zidane, Vivi and Eiko, Freya actually had the lifestyle of her job. And with her background story and her abilities as a Dragoon she is an important and strong character to have in any high level party. Yet another step for Dragoon kind.

I love using Freya in my party. I actually had some battles that Freya only lived through cuz sometimes, I was suicidial and everyone else but her would die. I learned my lesson...not. lolz Also I love using jump cuz that is always an advantage.

Freya is my favorite FFIX character all because of the character class. Freya is a dragoon and that is why i like her. The jump ability annihilated everything. I also like how you can equip her with female only armor, accessories and helmets. But the coolest thing is that she has a weapon called Kain's Spear!!!

I thought that Freya was a great character! I thought she had an awesome background story. Also I liked her trance jump. It was very powerful. Her abilities were some of the most useful in the entire game. She was one of my favorite characters in Final Fantasy IX. Unfortunately I thought that later in the game she lost some of her greatness. She was more of a beginning type character.

Freya was a very useful character. Especially when she learns the Reis's Wind ability. I also liked to start out tough battles with the Lancer ability. I don't think too many people give this rat the credit she deserves. She also has a great background story. Not to mention she is the only playable dragoon girl in all the main series Final Fantasies.
