The game wouldn't let him buy one because he bought one earlier so I can't go on yet. I decided to be RDM/BKM because I don't feel like lvling up as a WHM.

Well then, like I said, it will probably be easier if you start off by levelling Black Mage at least to 18. Plus, on top of that, your Black Magic skill will be pretty high, which will make levelling as a Red Mage later even easier. You'll already know some of your spells, and your skills will already be maxed out for your first few levels. Again, this is only a suggestion, but it's one that would likely work in your favor.

I have a 60 Bard so I have a little experience in being one, and I personally enjoy the job a lot because it is most free job you will have in a party. Because when it all boils down to it, the party can survive without needing you, because all you are doing is making their lives a little easier. So it opens a few doors for you as a Bard. Something you will pick up as you go along is that Bards make great pullers, especially when you are in a burn party of some sort. Since a Bard is not required to keep the party alive you can go off grab them a monster sleep and it is sitting next to the party waiting for it to be kill while the one they are fighting has only a small amount of HP left. Bards can pull in high amounts of exp for a party because unlike RNG or THF who are more useful staying around longer, when Bard's job is done with the party they can run off looking for monsters. They do not even have to heal because if they using MP, it is not very much and will regen quickly enough.

People do love Bards, they get MP Regen the earliest and next to the popular Corsair, they are the most desired in a party. The Corsair is a bard too with Attacking abilities, and the very nice exp bonus they give. Manaburn parties love Bards too, because they can go pull for them and the sleep it and weaken it to an element. Plus the greatest advantage the Bard has is you cannot interupt a Song by taking damage like all of the other spells Mages have. So bards can sleep monsters really easily, BLM will have trouble. A BLM will sleep a monster longer, but if they get hit, they could be dead before they can try again.

The Bard is a fun job and done well, you will never have a moment of down time.

You can sub *any* job under Corsair, just as you can sub under any other job.. anything.. really.

In regards to BRD/WHM having few attacks, well, BRD shouldnt really be placed in the front lines (with all the melees) in any event unless they are casting songs.
