Zelda: Ocarina of Time help

I'm bidding on this game at ebay.

I saw something on the internet that said they had different versions of the game software. I think there were only three different versions.

Does anyone know how to tell which version the game actually is?

The only thing I found on eBay to be close to what you were talking about was region codes.

If you live in America, get NTSC.
If you live in Europe, get PAL.

The gold coloring is just packaging. Dont worry about it.

Three versions? I know that there's the normal and the gold version, but that's it. I don't know of a third version. The gold version is easy to tell because the cartrige is colored gold and it will say it is on the box.

Wait, a third version could be the one in the collectors version for the gamecube. Or the masterquest version on the gamecube one(I think that's what it's called.

So two N64 and the gamecube ones.

EDIT: the gold version IS differant. It was made to fix a few bugs but they ended up putting in more than they took out. Mainly helpful glitches.

What I meant by the versions was that they tried to improve the game by doing stuff to the game itself.

They had the original with the normal glitches.Then they made it again trying to fix the glitches but actually added more. Then there was another that they edited more stuff, and changed the blood from red to green.

Thanks for the help though. I'll just get the gold one cause it has more helpful glitches,and glitches are fun to mess with.

Oh, I see. One battle had grren blood, I wonder which. Probably the bloodiest battle but which is that. They said they didn't give much away so I wonder what else was differant. I just migh have to find this version being the collector I am.

Yes, there are three versions of the game.

1.0: This game has a gold cartradge and is best for people who want to use Gameshark. It also has some chanting in the Fire Temple, along with Ganon spewing Red Blood when you defeat him.

1.1: Pretty much the same as 1.0, apart from the fact that Gameshark isn't as good with it.

1.2: This is the bad version, which comes in a grey cartridge. The chanting in the Fire Temple was removed, and they made Ganon spew green blood instead of red blood when you defeat him.

What is Master Quest by the way? I know it came with the gamecube version of OoT. Is it by chance a sequel, or just extra missions for it?

Masterquest comes with a few more sidequests and it quite a bit more difficult. I've seen people play the beginning before. The first dungeon is crawling with the ghoma spawn enemies instead of the spiders.

All of the Gold Cartridge games that came out in November of 1998 are version 1.0, and some grey cartridges released soon after were also version 1.0. Version 1.1 grey cartridges began to be released in early 1999, in which Nintendo fixed a number of bugs and glitches from the first version. This was followed by a version 1.2.

The most notable difference between version 1.0 and the following versions is that version 1.0 contains a trick that allows one to play the game without the Master Sword, which in turn allows one to use any item on Epona. Version 1.1 is a lot like version 1.0 except people cannot do the above trick (there is a different known method that works on all versions, including GameCube ones). Ganon's blood at the end of the game appears red in version 1.0. Version 1.1 is known to have two variations, one with green blood, and one with red blood. Version 1.2 only has green blood. Finally, the original theme for the Fire Temple was offensive to the Muslim community, who felt that it was based on an Islamic prayer call. In response, Nintendo replaced it in version 1.2 with a new theme in later cartridges, considered by many to be inferior. Nintendo was later forced to change the crescent moon and star symbol of the Gerudo to a design originally used to represent the Gerudo pirates in Majora's Mask for the GameCube re-release, again due to Muslim protest.

I've got the 1.1 version with red blood and the muslim-like chant and wouldn't have it any other way.
The chant meshes beautifully with the background music and it is beautiful to listen to, it gives the temple a very nice, deeper atmosphere.
Too bad they had to change it.

It is alot hader v of zelda on the gamecube i am stuck in shadow.
