As some of you may know there has been a lot of effort put into preventing hackers, though I do agree with Sony to have a right to sell their games, the measures they are taking is more harm than good and is making people who buy legit copies have to suffer: Quote:
But to be honest I don't know, I haven't really had many issues with my Ps2 except a few Ps1 games not working. Also I have had my ps2 since 2001 and nothing bad has happened to it since. Thoughts... http://www.unscleric.com/FallouttoE3P2.html

| Mistress of Succubi | I've had my PS2 since July '02. But it was used so it may be older than that. Though, I cannot discuss my ways any longer, because then it would be breaking the warez rule of TFF. So.. I'll leave it like that. And I'm sure people out there will be able to crack the Blu-Ray and have boot cds, etc, and chips, and all that other good stuff with time. It happened with DVDs, so it'll happen with Blu-Ray. It's just a matter of time. | ||||||||

| Wants to put a smile on that face! | Yeah, pretty much dude. The pathetic thing about their fight against piracy is the fact they are going to put blu-ray players out, then it'll replace DVDs, then companies will make blu-ray recording disc for the new blu-ray recording Players, and the shit will happen all over again. If they want to have people buy the legit copies, I suggest in actually lowering their damn prices upon both movies, games, and music. I mean that's how Nintendo has survived all these years because they ALWAYS give a FAIR and LOW price to it's customers instead of cheap marketing scams and bullshit wanting every cent in your pocket. Too bad not every company is like Nintendo, eh? | ||||||||

Although the thing I hate most about the protection by Sony and all them is the region coding. That stuff needs to stop. On the handhelds there is no game lockout.(Although on the PSP there is UMD lockout.) I swear the copyright crap is getting worst and worst. Pretty soon they are going to log when you play a damn game. They don't stop the hackers, just the general public.(Most proabably aren't even thinking about buying bootlegs.)

2,086 | ^What?!?! I don't remember Nintendo games even being close to the $70 marl. Are you sure you're not mistaking it with something else? The reason why you haven't had issues with your PS2 Odin, is because it doesn't use the Blu-Ray technology. I believe that is a Sony exclusive and will be introduced for the first time with the PS3. Although, Sony has said that they wish to expand the market of the Blu-Ray to other companies, evenutally and most likely ending the reign of DVDs. But I must agree with all of you. Piracy protection doesn't work. It's the endless cycle. People make lawas and/or protection for something and the criminals always find a way around it. Although, a criminal is only defined by doing something in breach of the law which my definition isn't necassarily what the government would define as such.

Yogi Bear cost $64.95 Wild Guns cost $69.95 Bubsy II cost $69.95 Illusion of Gaia when it first came out cost $69.99 Spider-Man & Venom Maximum Carnage cost $74.95 These were SNES games and I have an October Issue of Nintendo Power from 1994 right in front of me. I believe Final Fantasy III cost $79.99. As it was a huge cart at 24 Megabits. The price of carts were expensive what can you say. Also remember Neo Geo they were over $100 per cart.

2,086 | Damn! I wouldn't have believed it had you not checked again. Could it be this only applied to Nintendo products. I just can't imagine myself having paid that kind of price for Sega cartridges.
