Well! Time to cracked open my good game list, mwaha.
I knew it'd come in useful someday!

Silent Hill 2.
Silent Hill 3.
Silent Hill 4.
Resident Evil 4.
Metal Gear Solid 2 : Sons Of Liberty.
Need For Speed : Hot Pursuit 2.
Tony Hawk : Underground.

Anyway. Think that's enough for now. I might pop back in here and recommend a few more here and there.

if you like really strange Japanese games you could try Katamari Damaci. Other then that Disgaea is pretty fun. Also Suikoden III, Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, Dragon Quest VIII, Radiata Stories & Star wars battle fronts were good. If you like violent games most resident evil games and God of War were good also.

Oh! OH!!

And Project Zero!! =D

Awesome games, those. Most of the ones I've recommended are horror... But meh, they're really enjoyable!

Try 'em. You might like!

Well there are plenty of games for the PS2, so you could be a bit more spesific....

After all not everyone on the web knows what games you like

But listen up kiddo and let teH gaming mastah recommend you some random genres.

RPG; There aren't many good ones for PS2 atleast not in my opinion, but consider Dragon Quest VIII or if you care to try MMORPG's there's Everquest (both made by our beloved Square-Enix) as for the last though I'd rather recomend Everquest 2 for PC.

Shooters; SOCOM 3 now THATS what I'm waiting for , and how much longer do I have to wait??? Unless you live in America or Japan you can't get this yet... But there's the Tom Clancy series (just stay away from Ghost Recon, and you'll end up with a good one) also there are some Vietnam games like Vietcong Purple Haze.
If you'd like something like GTA I'd recommend The Godfather it's one of my favorite games. (if you are old enough though, the game isn't the "nicest" out there)

RTS; On PS2?? forget about it..... Unfortunately....

Driving games; I like realistic games and I'd recommend Grand Turismo 4, Formula 1 05, TOCA Race Driver 3 and if you don't like driving sims but still want a driving game try out Need for Speed hot pursuit (and some number)^^

Hope this helps a bit and if not please specify what kind of game you'd like.

Listen to this man, he is the smartest person in the world.

I would also suggest Suikoden IV and Suikoden V. Since you haven't played, or at least this is what I am assuming anyway, the first two Suikoden games or any of them at all, Suikoden IV probably won't disappoint you as much as it did a lot of fans.

Depending on what sort of games you are into, I would like to suggest both Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance games. They are fairly easy to learn, find, and beat. I would also suggest God of War, if you are not offended by lots of blood and gore.. and some boobies.

That's about all of my suggestions off the top of my head.

It doesn't even deserve the name Baldur's Gate... Rather go for God of War.

Kingdom Hearts!

If you like RPGs, you will LOVE this game, its not your basic RPG, it has action elements as you may know, but you still have your traditional RPG levelling up system, equipping weapons, gaining spells, gaining money etc.

You play as Sora along with Donald and Goofy, and you go around in a Gummi Ship killing all the Heartless.

Theres also FF characters in it!

Mercenaries definetely. A great game, with lots to do, and a suprisingly solid plot, and fantastic characters. Particuarly Yuri the russian "You got a problem working for a killer,do you?"

Katamari Damacy or We Love Katamari, I'd suggest the former first.

If you wanna look into a few older PSX titles, there's always Legend of Dragoon, Xenogears, and a few other decent games.

Honestly, to me, the PS2 never really had a very strong library. Then again neither did the XBOX, or the GCN for that matter.

Shadow of the Colossus was a great game. If you try that and like it then you should also try ICO. For a lot of time to spend, you could get the Megaman X Collection. Those games are hard, and the collection is pretty cheap, I think.

i have only one game to recommend:

Devil May Cry 3

if you like god of war, but you want something harder, more stylish, and more gothic, then you gotta play devil may cry (but ignore the 2nd one, it doesnt exist...)

Grandia II is an amazing game for PS2. Best battle system in any RPG.....ever.

Have you ever wanted to "play" an anime? Pick up a Suikoden game.

Ever wanted to have a pretty mediocre story but AMAZING gameplay, then buy Grandia Xtreme.

Oh, and buy any Star Ocean game of your choosing (yeah...wide selection, only two made it to the U.S.). Star Ocean is an RPG but the battles are realtime. Basically, a futuristic version of the "Tales of" series, made by the same company.

Also, Brave fencer Musashi. Musashi: Samurai Legend was okay but it just didn't have that "Better than Zelda" feel, more like a "Kingdom Hearts meets The Rocky Horror Picture Show" (that means, don't play it).
