The Zodiac-Does it have a bearing on real life?

Hello all, Recently I have been seriously thinking about the Zodiac and just what and or if it has any control on our lives at all. Here is my first example. I am a Yin Fire Rabbit/hare and my roommate is a Yang Water Rat. We get along great, we really have very little issue with each other, and I don't know if its just because secretly and unknown to us that we both love each other or what, but life really does seem to click rather nicely.

I mean we both have the Yin and Yang Combo, so As far as life issues go we balance out. We are elemental opposites, Water/fire, so we both keep each-other tempered, I think he keeps me more cooled down then me heating him up though. And We are both animals that get along, not necessarily compatible not not compatible.

Now then let us also take my Ex-Girl/Long Distance Relationship/Not sure what the hell it is. She is a Yang Fire Tiger..So we have the Yin/Yang, But then we have Fire Fire...Now In my books that means two things, one we can build off each other and become more powerful and burn brighter..but that also means that are passion and love can be stronger...and also that we can both burn each other uncontrollably.

Hmm..There is a lot of interesting ideas to be researched with this. I mean I can totally see how it works...but is it all coincidence? Or is it got something to do with the time we are born, and how the times change....

What are your thoughts?

Just a fair warning, Id love for the ID forum to become Intellectual again, so any posts that don't do that..well lets just say I'm gonna sick the bunny on you.

I am kind of surprised nobody every brought up a topic on the Zodiacs before. Well I don't know about the Chinese Zodiacs except I think I am the Tiger (1986) but as far as the Sun/Moon/Rising signs when you put them together they actually make perfect sense. For example I am a Taurus which as some of you know is an Earth sign along with Virgo and Capricorn. Well I don't know much virgo's but with almost every Capricorn there has always been some kind of reaction between us, doesn't nessecary have to be positive as it can be quite negative but there tends to always be something. Also on a side note I think the Gods where inspired by the same starts which is why there is often some similarities.

I'm conflicted about Zodiac stuff.

I mean, I like it. It's interesting reading about my sign. I'm an Aquarius. (this is the daaaaaawning of the Aaaaaage of Aaaaaquariusssssss) Sorry, I'll stop now.

Anyways, moving on:

I find that if you read the descriptions of each of the Zodiacs, they're vauge enough just to fit nearly everyone. I fit my Zodiac sign to a 'T', but I'm not quite sure if I do that anyways or because I'm an Aquarius. Typically Aquarians like to march to the beat of their own drums, and do whatever it takes to be different than everyone else.

I am totally like that. I hate blending into the crowd, or following the crowd. I will go my own way, with no care whatsoever if other people approve or like me for it.

As for my Chinese Zodiac, I am either a Sheep or a Goat, it really depends on which Chinese restaraunt place mat you look at. I think I am a water or air element, but I haven't been to bothered to actually look it up.

All in all, I think they're spiffy, but I treat them the same as I would reading my horoscope. I'll read it, but I won't live by it. If my 'scope says that I'm going to die a death of a thousand pains today if I step outside... well... you can be sure I'll be stepping outside.

To me, it's only how much you as a person decides to put into it.

To be short, I don't believe in the Zodiac. While the anime/manga "Fruits Basket" makes it interesting, I just think it's old supersitious stuff. Not my cup of tea.

I don’t know how it could be true. It seems like there are way too many people born in the same month to be able to find something that they all have in common or will happen to them in the same way. For instance I am a Taurus now the kid I don't like at work is also a Taurus it seems stupid to say that just because our birthdays are close the same things will happen to us, or we feel the same way on certain days, or we have similar characteristics.

I think that the Chinese Zodiac is even less likely to have any type of truth in it. I can't believe that everyone that was born the same year that I was will grow up to have similar personal traits.

^ Actually there is a mixture of things, most people only know about their sun sign but there is also your Moon, Venus, Mecury, Rising and North/South which are determined by the exact time and place you were born. When you put them together it gets quite accurate. Also I do not believe the garbage they post in the magazines either as the majority is crap.

That would make way more sense. I could perhaps believe more in the zodiac if they were to zero it in far more to be personalized for a single person instead of a big group. I think that is interesting that they also look at the place you were born.

I always just thought that it was some lady that had nothing better to do so she wrote out a whole bunch of crap for like people magazine which always tells me what to do with my live life and so on. Or those dumb place mats you get when you go out for chinese. Mine always says that the sheep is shy. I'll give you shy stupid mat!!

I'm a Rat in the Zodiac, and a Pisces in the other Zodiac. And yes, the descriptions of each animal are vague, and so are the horoscopes.

But yes, as Odin pointed out, there are other different aspects to it as well that make things quite accurate if you know how to read into them.
