Confused...

Why is Final Fantasy 7 getting the most attention with continuations in games? It wasn't the only Final Fantasy that was successful.

I was talking to people on another forum and they agreed that Final Fantasy 9 had a way better storyline and a couple other features. I am getting pissed because FFX got an extension, FF7 is getting Dirge of Cerebus, and FF9 is left out in the cold.

I personally don't want any sequels for any of the other Final Fantasy games. I thought FFX had a perfect ending and they shouldn't have continued on the story. I did want a sequel for VIII but I don't so much anymore because the ending was just fine and there wasn't really anything they could continue on with.

Most of the FF games ended perfectly so they don't need to have a sequel in my opinion. FFX-2 didn't seem to be very popular so I think they learned their lesson and won't make any more sequels haha.

Let them continue on with making games and movies for FFVII, they're just making more and more stuff to make LOTS of money! It doesn't even bother me anymore that VII gets more attention than the others. I didn't like FFVII that much anyway.

FF7 made money. FF7 = safe bet for making MORE money.

Look at it this way...the more succesful any sequels are, the more likely there will be OTHER sequels to follow. Perhaps even sequels to a game in the series you'd prefer.

I'd like to see that prequel to FF6 they were working on there for awhile before they made FF7.

I know, its mean. I'd really appreciate a FF9 extension. FFXeople wanted to find out what happened to Yuna and I guess they couldn't accept Tidus passing on. FF7:It was a really successful game and it kind of left you hanging on the end. FF9 deserves some sort of extension though.

I really dislike FFVII. I think one of the reasons it's so popular was because it was the first game to have really good usage of graphic design and I guess the fans went mad for this. Except now it's grown to the point where FFVII is seen as a milestone in the gaming world.

I won't deny that FFVII IS a big part of Japanese gaming history, although I personally don't like it.

Also, as for more on-topic things, Anomaly pretty much knows it. FFVII made a lot of money. FF:AC made a lot of money. When FFVII was released, it was massive. It was everywhere and attracted more fans to the series then ever.
Why? The graphics. Everyone wanted a taste of these new, fantastic graphics and so FF became way more graphically advanced then most other games. And since RPG's are typically the most loved type of games, it grew more popular then other great series'.
FFVII is known for captivating storyines, but other series' have now surpassed them graphically. The graphics are good -- for a fantasy RPG. But take games like Silent Hill, who concentrate on detail as well, who can't say SH graphics are better then FF?

It think it's a shame that FF are using, although wonderful graphics, not really doing much to improve their chracter graphics. I still respect the company, although I dislike their newer games and FFVII fixation.

FFVII is getting way too much publicity because of the impact it had on the gaming world - I understand the rave back then... but we have so many better games out and better series' out now. I guess it's a matter of "to each his own"... it's a shame so many people have stuck closely to this rather mediocre gaming experience.

I respectfully disagree. Even for its time Final Fantasy VII didn't have good graphics. It was the engaging story that drew (and keeps drawing) people into the game, not the graphics.

Fans were so happy with FF VII and many were angry about how it s ended so square enix made advent children to make the fans happy and in my case it did .

now new ones r coming out :

Before Crisis : set six years before FF VII follows story of the turks.

Crisis Core : based five years before FF VII focuses on the story of cloud and zack when they went to nibelheim, and how the new cloud was created.

Drige Of Cerebus : set after advents children, based mostly on vincent but the others are in it also.

damn right it had the best villian! im quite tired and stoned and not up for much of a debate, and with respect to those who don't like it- i think ff7 rocks. it closely relates to a lot of issues in our world and i love that it helped teach people about taoism with the lifestream theory. i'm no graphics expert but i think it looked pretty sweet 4 its time and the story line was fascinating. in my humble opinion.
p.s i cant wait to play crisis core!
