Sex: I'm straight. I believe we are all born straight, and that God never intended for us to be homosexual. While sex is for more than just procreation, homosexual sex is in no way natural. And "transexuality" is just a joke. While I disagree with the lifestyle, I have no problems with the people living it -- I'll still associate with them and such, but we agree that they're queer and I'm a Bible thumper, and that's the end of it. I'm not going to try to restrict them from their sexual behavior (perversions), but I'm not about to sit back and let them be granted special rights.

Politics: Conservative/Libertarian. I've been into politics since I was about eight years old. While I have some problems with both primary parties in America, I agree with many more Republican ideals. Mainly, Capitalism. While the Republicans are getting more and more liberal lately, I guess I'll take what I can get. Some people would call me "ultra-conservative" or "extremist", but those are the people who usually don't know what the hell they're talking about, because I'm not extreme in the least bit. My favorite politician is a Democrat, too. I treat politics like I treat anything else -- if I'm interested, I welcome a discussion/debate, because it'll help me to better understand my own beliefs and those of the oppostion.

Religion: Christian. I think most people here know his. I've been "Christian" prettymuch all my life, but actually converted for myself sometime in Middle School, after having Evolutionism shoved down my throat in "science" classes and deciding to research the biggest test of my faith, and always coming back to the Bible. While I get tired of the many, many misunderstandings of the Bible (that's not including the manipulations and intentional mistranslations), I find myself happy to help others gain a better understanding, and in doing so help myself to gain a better understanding. And I would disagree that anybody tries to "forcefeed" or "push" or "impose" their religion on anybody else -- of course everybody thinks themselves are right, and if I'm right that only being a Christian will keep you out of Hell, of course I'm going to tell you about being a Christian.

Sex: I'm straight. That solves that one. I don't care what you do, so long as you're doing it in the privacy of your own home. I'm not gonna go off having sex in public, and you shouldn't either, cause nobody wants to see that, and if you do, get lost.

Politics: Not a fan of politics in the least... mainly because it leads to arguments. I do however consider myself to be a liberal in most stances. As for welfare, I feel that people should have to do some form of work instead of slacking and collecting a check every now and then.

Religion: Roman Catholic. I believe in what the Church teachers, aside from abortion, because I'm pro-choice. I'm also pro DaVinci Code... because it is just a novel/ movie. Nothing was ever declared as fact, and I feel that the church got all up in arms over nothing.

Honestly, I don't care what other people think, but 9/10 times, the people with an opposite viewpoint randomly bash me with things that are irrelevant to the arguement.

As for religion, I would LOVE if people were to agree with me, but most don't. I am a born again Christian and am very serious about my walk with God and I like to see people get saved like me. My viewpoint is that Jesus died on the cross and rose for my sins and that I should live in him.

As for politics, I'm not old enough to vote but let's just say George Bush has made some choices I wouldn't make but I would rather have him as my leader than "Manny Ortiz", if you catch my drift.

As for sex, I am a virgin but usually people my age are heavily into it (sadly). Does that mean I'm a nun? Of course not. At my age, lust is a huge thing and yes, I desire to have sex with a "hot" girl, BUT I decide to remain loyal to God and wait for a person in my life that I truly love and get married to.

EDIT: Might as well add that I'm straight.

Excellent topic, Sean.

Yes, it seems pretty much every "Intelligent Discussion" forum, not just TFF's are heavily populated with, as Sean puts it, "The Big Three 'No' Topics." Frankly, I'm sick of it. For a forum that's supposed to expand our minds, we sure like to limit ourselves failing to expand our minds on the same old three subjects. The few times people post a topic about other subjects, it rarely gets as active as the Big Three.

As for my opinion on The Big Three:

I'm not tired of religion topics, actually. What I AM tired of is this common idea that all religion topic must be about Christianity and Atheism. No other religious beliefs and philosophies are discussed except for brief casual mentions. For all the scrutiny and advocation Christianity and Atheism receive, why don't I see Buddhism put under the microscope? Why don't I see Islam discussed? In times like this, we should discuss Islam more to better understand it. Because right now, there is a lot of misunderstandings with Islam. Why don't I see discussions and analysis of various mythologies and how applicable they may still be today? If we want to discuss religion, I highly suggest we do it right.

As for politics, again, I'm not tired of it. For TFF, I think we do an OK job of discussing political issues. We've discussed illegal immigration, the middle East, military support, minimum wages, gay rights, and the President.

For the topic of sex, I personally do not participate in them much. Because to me, it's difficult to discuss sex with a bunch strangers without it getting pointless. But, when it comes to gender issues, marriage, and topics indirectly related to sex, I'll participate in.

It doesn't matter what your stance is, that always happens.

Sex: To be honest, I'm not sure. I can find some men really pretty, but enough to do anything, not so much. Anyways, I get offended out of principle when people randomly insult homosexuals for no reason what so ever. It just strikes me as an enormous lack of character, especially the hardcore religious nuts that "don't hate them, just the sin" (Funniest thing I've ever heard). Other than that, nothing about sex really offends me.

Politics: Democratic Socialist/Individualist Anarchist. It's hard to describe my exact position, so either of those keywords in wikipedia will work. I am a little wary of going too far left though, it requires good leadership unfortunately, which isn't a strong point among politicians. I don't get offended when people talk politics, other than political stereotyping.

Religion: I despise organised religion, particularily Christianity, simply because it's the largest. That isn't to say that I'm anti religious, you have the right to believe what you want, but you know the old saying, "Your right to swing your fist ends at my face". I have a friend who's quite religious actually. I think he's daft for believing and I'm sure he feels the same about me for not believing, but I leave him alone about it and he does the same.

Well, as for religion, i'm not going into it anymore. As preople have said, it's like flogging a dead horse, so I think that topic has just about run itsrlf out.

Politics: I could care less about it than anything else it in my life. I need politics like I need an infected scrotum -- albolutely not. Most politicians in my opinion, are greedy, dishonet bullshit artists in it for the money, perks and nost of all , CONTROL. I've seen the major events of the past 40 years live and in front of my eyes, like LBJ and Vietnam, Nixon resigning, Carter and the Tehran hostages, Oliver North and Iran-Contra, etc.. so i have that much experience to be as cynical as i am about it.

Sex: Well.,as Austin Powers says, "Yes please".
But seriously. I enjoy it as much as anyone else, straight. But I'm at that point in my life where it's not that much of a priority for me anyome. That's not to say i don;t want it or think about it, but I find that there are other things that keep my attention busy . I'd love to find a nice girl to fall in love with and marry and have kids, but i find as time goes on that becomes more and more a distant poossiblilty. And Besides, what young woman would want to be with a 41-year-old guy with a Kidney and Pancreas Transplant?

anyways that's my opinions and should not be considered indicative of the general public

In a lot of workplace training, they tell you, no matter how friendly you are with your colleagues, these are three topics that aren't to be talked about.

The reason? Rather simple, really. People find them to be the most easily offensible topics if you have a different view and belittle theirs.

If I discussed politics with a Republican, I would offend them.

If I discussed religion with a Christian, I would offend them (And have MANY times)

If I discussed sex with a gay man or woman, or even with some straight women or men, I may offend them.

Why is it that these seem to be the 3 most traversed topics in this forum, then? Not that I'm complaining, because I'm quite a hard person to offend (Outside of stupidity, I find that to be the largest insult)

So... I don't really know what my point was.

How about....

How offensive do you find these three topics, if at all? What are your stances on politics, sex, and religion, how strong are you on these stances, and how offended are you at others who do not share your views?

Let's keep from flaming. A bit of debate is always a good thing, name calling and bashing aside. If, for any reason, whoever the current ID mod is, or an s-mod or Cesar, feels this is a bad thread, feel free to close it.

As for myself, sex, I'm personally straight, however I see nothing wrong with gays, lesbians, or bisexuals. It's their love, let them share it how they wish.

Politics, I'm a Democrat, I suppose. I'm mostly against the Republican views, as I do not agree with them. Abortion is a large one here, as I'm pro-choice.

Religion.... I'm none. Against it, really. My views on religion are that it's simply a way for man to explain the unexplainable. The moral stories to learn from the bible and the 10 commandments (some of them) aren't all bad, but the core of religion it's self, to me, is bull.

Well good topic I must say.

Religion I was brought up Catholic and made first communine. Though as I grew older my religious beliefs skewed from the religion and as how certain things were acted upon. So now I in a sense could still be called a Catholic since I did go to Church then but it's been so long. I believe in God and fate, and as long as people rrespect my opinion then I'll respect theirs.

Politics When it comes to politics it's tough. I took a test that said where I stood and I stood dead center in the middle. I can't vote, but when it comes to most things I'm split I look the person who they are what they stand for, and go from there, I don't just go on either elephant or donkey.

Sex Well I'm straight. But I've known and still know a good amount of gay people, and have no problem with it. A town I live near has almost a whole town full with gay and lesbians. But hey none of it bothers me, so yeah I say hey whatever makes them happy go for.

Well that's my input on all of it.
