Van Basten is a dick! I hate that guy. He's the cockiest Dutch person I have ever seen. They should let Johan Cruhff coach the team. Too bad that will never happen.

I'm going to have to disagree here. Or rather reifnorm you. The matches were not picked by someone to better suit the favorties and improve their chances of coming farther. They were completely random. I mean they televised it in front of the whole world. They showed little balls with teams in them get picked out of bowls so that nobody could claim that the system was rigged.

Yesterday's games were pretty good, I'll agree. Sweden, who I thought was going to sweep it with 2-0 didn't even make one goal! However, one has to note that they were unlucky as hell. They had great shots on the T&T goal but they just didn't want to go in. Ibrahimovic kicked ass and Larsson was also ace. But damn, Trinidad did play some great football. And rJ floW, It doesn't matter that they didn't win. Fact is, a tie is still better than a loss. And it's not like T&T are expecting to become champion. They just want to establish themselves as a team that can hold with the big guys. ANd by god, they have surely done that.

Argentina vs. Cote d'Ivoire was the first really exciting game. Both teams were incredibly good and showed some of the first signs of world class football in this tournament. Of course I was rooting for the underdog, Ivory Coast. Too bad Drogba didn't get at least two more goals in but the team as a whole played great nonetheless.

Todays matches were kinda slow in my opinion. The Holland game was really boring actually and had little to keep me interested. Iran was actually one of the better teams of the day but ended up losing after all. Okay, I admit it. Mexico was many classes better and showed that at the end of the game. But Portugal against Angola is actually the best game today. Angola is fighting their asses off and could make the tie but then again, Portugal has some of the greatest tricksters in international football. C. Ronaldo should've made a couple goals, I mean really.

But tomorrow are some really good games. USA against Czech. Rep. will be a really good game. I'm hoping for a Czech win but who knows. USA isn't exactly the weakest team in the world. Also, Japan should be able to overcome the Australiens but it may end up being close as well. However, Italy vs. Ghana may be a yawner but whatever.

Yeah, I made myself a McDonald's/FIFA World Cup Fantasy Team but I'm not fairing so well. Damn Swedes not winning yesterday meant me gaining very little points. I'm also kind of behind because I created it on the second day of the tourny rather than the first. Unlucky for me. Anyone else have a Fantasy Team on that site as well?

Here's my team by the way.

Yeah have to admit that Holland vs. Servia-Montenegro was kind of boring, but meh. at least we won, haha.
Robben and van Persie were pretty much the only good players in the team (not counting van de Sar, he's far beyond everybody else) today. Rest was playing like shit, but then again. How would we do if it would be hellish hot like it has been the past few days? Damn, everything makes you tired, hehe.

I'm praying that Japan wins tomorrow.

Peace out

Of course Japan will win!!! They kick ass and Australia...........DOESN'T!!!! Although their goalie is kick ass....but then again, he's German hehe.

Nakata is easily my favorite player on Japan's side but they have so many other great talents such as Ono, Takahara, Kawaguchi, Tamada, Inamoto, etc. Yeah, Japan also kicks.......ass that is.

First off, I would like to say I haven't posted here in a long time .... years even. I just happen to stop by and see a world cup thread, couldn't resist. I'm what you can say, a futbol freak, and I'm enjoying every second of this world cup. Despite my nacionality, I'm a long-time fan of Brazil. I have no doubt in the world they have the power to take the world cup again. However, Brazil has won it enough already, so I'd say it's time for another country to step up and create it's own legacy. I chose Portugal to win it this time. For some reason I can't explain, I like the Portuguese, and I would like to see master Figo lift the world cup. I've always been a fan of Figo, for he was once a Barcelona hero, a team I follow since I was a lad.

Anyways, it's Portugal chance, it not then it's Brazil once again.

Watched the Netherlands vs Serbia-Montengero today. Wasn't as gripping as the Argentina - Ivory Coast game. I was a sad panda.

Although I was watching the dedicated GoalTV and it was highlighting some of the best FIFA goal saves... damn! I'll never cease to respect goalies. For the size of the net, and the size of the person in front of that net, it takes some skill!

Australia is gonna wipe the field with Japan tonight

I'm not a real Soccer fan personally but when my team is playing in a major event, I'll go park my ass infront of the TV. I was just reading over all the groups too and what the hell kind of combination of teams is that?? lol

Australian Goalie > Japanese Goalie

Right on! Australia is going to pwn Japan.

Actually, I haven't got my hopes up for them lol. It would be awesome if they did win though. I'm not a very big fan of Soccer/Football either so I have no idea whether Japan is a good team or not. Good luck Australia! If you win this, I'll never doubt you again!

I probably won't even watch it, it's on too late at night! The match last night started at 11 pm. TOO LATE! I am not staying up to watch a Soccer match. I would fall asleep if I tried to anyway.

Anywho.. good luck Australia! Make us proud!

Dude! It has been awhile, hasn't it?

Needless to say, I was disappointed with Portugal's performance yesterday. Maybe they were just warming up, saving their energy for Mexico or something like that, but they definitely didn't light it up like I was expecting them do. Much like Akira said, I was disappointed with Cristiano Ronaldo, although he did have a few opportunities, but not nearly as many as he should have had. I was questioning why Scolari took him out around the 60th minute, but it makes sense, considering they had the lead and he had a yellow card. The last thing they needed was for him to get another card and miss a friggin game. Like ol' 'Twan, I'm a fan of Figo, and it looks like he really hasn't lost a step at all. I'd like to see him win the cup, seeing as though this is probably his last.

Japan - Australia 1 - 0 as I type this (Half-Time now) I honestly think that foul goal wasn't intentional by them, but hell, would you care if you did the same thing by mistake and the ref didn't see it? On another note, Japan is surprisingly playing really good, they are attacking much more then Australia at this point, they just gotta stop falling down by every single touch from the Aussies lol

Edit: 2nd Half. What a game! All 2nd half subs made a huge difference in Australia's game, definetley a great game. Gotta give em props for that, they owned them bad in those last few minutes.

Yeah, Japan caved in to Australia at the end. Throughout the game though, you could tell they were trying to play defensively after the first goal and hoping to keep the lead. Stupid tactic in this case since Australia kept pushing till they finally hammered one in. After that, all hell broke loose and Japan had no will to resist. And with that, I have lost even more precious points for my fantasy soccer team.

Well, Czech. Rep. is playing right now against the good ole USA and they are quite strong. Then again, I wouldn't have expected less from the current lineup they have. Nonetheless, USA is not to be underestimated and can easily get a surprise goal in.

EDIT: Wow! Rosicky just handed Casey Kellar his own ass with that amazing 2-0!

3-1, VICTORY TO AUSTRALIA!

Its our first ever World Cup victory so its something to cheer about, I was up until like 2AM this morning watching it lol. When Japan scored that first goal around the 6 minute mark I was crying foul too! but after a few replays.. meh.. I was over it. We absolutely blitzed them near the end tho.. they kinda just slowed down after that third goal to eat up the timer.. hehe.

Rock on!

I can't believe Australia won! I didn't watch the match because I was sleeping. It's on a little too late for my liking. I found out on the early news this morning about their victory. I was totally surprised and happy about it. Hopefully they win some more for us! I did see a little bit of it, I watched it until Japan scored a goal and then I turned it off and went to sleep lol.

Anyways, congratulations Socceroos! Keep up the good work!

Sup Dauragon, can't believe your still here.

Italy won 2 to nothing. Well, I say, good riddance.
Dauragon's right when he mentionned Portugal had a poor game. Maybe they underrestimated Angola, plus, Deco wasn't playing. Just like Barcelona, Portugal need Deco. Well, a poor performance didn't stop the Portuguese from honking.

I can't believe Australia scored 3 goals in just a few minutes. I thought they would lose, but I guess they're winning hunger proved me wrong.
