Front Mission

Does anyone remember these games? I bought FM3 a good few years back and found it a few days ago. I remembered then just what an amazing game it was, however, everyone I talk to doesn't seem to have even heard of it. If you have and liked the games (FM1 was awesome...FM2? Let's not go there) post here.

Also, I've heard that FM4 has come out in America. What's it like?

I've played Front Mission 2 on the SNES, as the first two were only released in Japan. There is a rom floating around somewhere with an English translated version of the 2nd game, that's well worth a looksee actually (a pre-Final Fantasy Tactics-runner, with giant robots). The third as far as I can remember was on the PSX and made it as far as the US. The fourth one I think was on the PS2.

Even though they are incredible games though, I don't think Square Europe are that interested in getting them over to us (the gits).

There was a FM1 ROM which was an English translation as well, that was what got me into it, and in comparison, FM2 was very, VERY bad! FM3 is a truly great game, before Square lost its soul. Wanzer (Van-ser) robots are the coolest!

It's been a long while since I've played it, the Wanzers were majorly impressive though.

Soz to go off topic; have you ever played another Square Robot game called Xenosaga? It was a damn travesty that they qouldn't bring it to Europe. Brilliant game that was

My brother imported it, he bought it off eBay, it was a great game, an last thing before we go back on topic, Xenosaga II is out, and my brother imported that too...only to find it's been released in England, we saw it in a 'Game' shop.

(I can say that, I used to work for them back in the "Electronique Boutique" days)

Xenosaga 1 was originally frowned upon for being blasphemus towards all organised religeons, and apparently that was why it was never released over here. Damn shame, considering that stuff like Grandia 2 and Tales of Phantasia (both great RPGS following the lives of people being used by fake religeons to gain other ends) were released here with no problems whatsoever.

Still though, in Front Mission you get to stomp about, which is great

Yes, Stomp about and destroy great-big Mechs with great big guns. But if you've played FM3, can you tell me, what is the point of Dennis? He's so weak and he keeps missing with his rifle, it's quite irritating

I've no idea...possible comedy character, otherwise no real reason for him being there as such. As you said, he's always ending up at the back while the others take the flak

I must admit, I do like the storyline, you can tell a lot of work went into it if you access the information of the network, but I feel like it lacked something. The problem with FM3 was that it overdosed on the story. I only remember there being about 35-40 battles in the entire game an the rest was just pure story.

I haven't played these but I can tell you they look good.

Xenogears was an excellent playthrough from the tem that brought us Chrono Trigger.

So has anyone played FM4? I've screenshots but I'm anxious to find out how it actually plays, because I amy actually get lucky and it may be released over here.
