Yeah, eBay is a good place to get some Final Fantasy games. I was on Australian eBay the other day and they had plenty of FF games. Some of them were quite expensive though, I don't think they should be too expensive because they're only PS1 games. I guess they are collectables after all though. I saw Final Fantasy IX for $80 or so. VIII was about $60.

Well there's a section at Best But and usually some of the Final Fantasies are on sale, I got it for cheap there, hope that helps.

Yeah, some people like to be rip offs and make people pay a lot more than they should. I couldn't believe the price of some games. They were brand new but I still think it's a bit too expensive. I definitely didn't pay that much for Final Fantasy VIII. I think I paid half that price. Some of the games start off cheap but by the end of the bidding it can be $50 or more. I'm sure there are other places where you can get these games cheaper. I am after FFIX. I'm not going to pay $90 for it though.

You won't have to pay anything like $90 for FF9, there are dozens of copies for sale on eBay all the time. They usually go for around £10-£12 Uk sterling. That's about $20 US.
Ebay is excellent for sourcing old and uncommon games. I recently got a copy of "marvel super heroes vs street fighter" for pal PS1 and that's a rare game in the UK, it's been ex-listed for years and there were never many copies shipped to the UK in the first place!
If eBay hasn't got the game you're after try amazon.com or play.com, they're both pretty good.

You can get it at FYE, Ive seen it at blockbuster, and EB games. Tahey were all 20-30 dollars.

I bought my second copy for $15 w/ guide from a friend, because I didn't want the Greatest Hits edition. I got my original copy brand new shortly after release, not sure whatever happened to it, though.

If you go to a videogame store, try to find a used one. That's how I got my copy, I bought it for $14. Usually they're not as "used" as you think. Most of them were previously owned by "videogame accomplishment freaks," whose only soul purpose was to beat the game to know everything about it. Then they sell it.

So, best bet in my opinion; buy it used at a videogame store.

As for Strategy guides, borrow from a buddy or something, or, I went to Barnes & Nobles. I don't know if you have any of those where you live, but that's where I got mine.

I went to gamestop after hearing about how great of a game it was from one of my friends. Couldn't put the game down ever since. Felt like a god sent.

Wow? Seriously I still see copies of FFVIII all the time in the ps1 sections for $34.95 in New Zealand :S I would of thought they had stoped selling it buy now. I brought my non-platnium for $60, but most of the time I grab the last copy of the non-platnium at plat price like with God of War. But yeah it shouldn't be that hard to find...
