Invisible Members

Okay, so back in February, towards the end, I bought the "View Invisible Members" option, and for a while, it was doing its thing for me. Then I started to notice that I didn't see Cesar when he was on. Now, today, I see that there are 6 users on, but I only see 5 names. What the HELL is the deal, guys? On the receipt thing for my "See Invisible Users" option, it says it will never expire. So how come it doesn't work? Do some members have the ability to hide even from the "See Invisible Users" thing, or something? Like buying the "invisible mode" from vbplaza protects you from that? Or is mine malfunctioning for some reason?

I do not see where this question has been posted before, if it has. If it's something really simple, I'm sorry for wasting your time. Well, really, I'm probably lying when I say that Please help anyway.

I don't know, maybe administrators are immune to it. To be honest, I'm not sure. As an admin, I can automatically see invisible users without having to purchase the item, so I really don't know much about it. This question is probably best directed to Fuzz, unless my name is the one you're not seeing. If so, then yeah, admins are probably immune.

I know we're immune to all the other profile-modifying options, like titles.

After the upgrade to vbPlaza ALL options that you currently had purchased from the eStore should have been unaffected... You should still see invisible users... I'm sure the 1 member you happened not to see was Cesar, since admins are immune to it, I believe.

Although odd, there is nothing we can do about it. There is that possibility that that one member you couldn't see was just a cookied member that was gone and the Who's Online didn't track it yet... there are many possibilities. I guess the question is: how often do you NOT see the full amount of logged in users with your 'invisible user' pass? if it is a reoccurring event, then it is definitely more than just admins being immune and late cookie sessions.

I will further investigate if it is something else. We'll get all the bugs worked out. I said from the beginning that a few bugs here and there may pop up from the Store system... just something you have to expect from free hacks/additions to Vbulletin.

Well, I was online at the time he posted the thread, so there's a very good chance it was me. This isn't the first time someone's mentioned something about this, either... and every time seems to have been a time when I was online.

I'm pretty sure it was Cesar, as per I never seem to see him when he's online. I've also noticed that in the past month or so, however, that I seem to be the only invisible member who's ever on. So *shrug* Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions, here. Sorry for being impatient, guys. Heh. Thanks for the help, too.

Well, when you're invisible, you can always see yourself on, but can't see other users. And yes, as Fuzz and I said, admins are immune to all of those store options. Merlin's Tech Support account is also set to invisible, and as it has administrator status, that could be precisely why you've been missing other invisible accounts despite the purchase you made within the store.

So yeah, any time he's on and I'm not, that could also toss your count.

That's a very disruptive store function. The invisible option in vB allows people to post without others bothering them whenever they come online. There are also other reasons for it to be there, which I won't go into great detail about. Suffice it to say, allowing users to circumvent people's privacy should NOT be a store function.

How do you feel when you're in a bathroom stall where the door doesnt work right and someone barges in on you? Yeah... I don't think you'd like it too much.

Any function that disrupts other users really should be removed. I don't give a shit what you do to YOUR account, but when you start fucking with mine, then we've got a problem.

You know, I did not think about it that way. I just saw it was an option, so I bought it, and I'm sorry that I offended you by doing so. It might be disruptive, like you say, and maybe it should be removed. I have no problem with that. I just thought that, since it wasn't working like I thought it should, and since I bought it, that I'd ask why, is all.
