I do not see the point in wearing make up if you're good looking. If you are a complete skank with a flat face and squint eyes and nose then I would full understand wearing makeup to improve your image.

Like I said earlier makeup doesn't make beauty, it enhances what you already have. Chances are, you are already good looking to begin with, if so, I wouldn't wear it. Isn't there tons of toxins and cr*p inside makeup?! Oh well, if girls put it on then it can't be too bad.

You should only put on makeup to create a first impression. Say if you were going into a new school then I think it would be suitable. It makes you attractive at first sight but after getting to know people you can finally take it off since they know your "inner beauty".

I think make-up can enhance what you already have, but at the same times can make you look terrible. Make-up takes skill to put on. The key is mostly to look as if you had none on. Most of the time, however, girls sometimes tend to put it on so you can look at their make-up^^. The whole blue eye shadow with bright red lipstick doesn't appeal to me, and I know some men may tolerate it, but I don't think most like the taste of it.

I agree with you CheeseVixen. I hate blue eye shadow but I do like red lipstick. That deep dark red!

I don't think makeup should be limited to the "skanks with flat faces"

I find it funny... most people in this thread are referring to TONS of makeup... but don't have much to say about the people who put it on correctly... like what Cheesevixen was talking about. (The key being that you're not supposed to look "made up").

Exactly! Kinda what I meant about my earlier comment..

With all the chemicals, and strange stuff they put in make-up.. not only does it taste horrible when a girl cakes the stuff on, but it's probably not good for either of you ^.^

I have much respect for women that are able to use makeup effectively..

Personnally, I think a little light makeup on a girl looks good, and enhances her natural looks, but I do believe it is a matter of individual taste, it shouldn't be dictated by some Model on TV inplying that if you buy a ceratin cosmetic, guys will prectically fall all opver you. All the ads to is give teenage girls complexes about how they thiin they should look instead of concentrating on their natual looks and abilities.

Well, then I don't think you're hanging around with the right girls then. Maybe stay away from the street-walkers and you'll be doing better!

lmao just joking, just joking.

But yeah. You'll notice when they start doing it right, but if all you saw were women with a ton of crap on, I can't say I'd be to into it either.

I agree with Tiff. Not all girls have lots of stuff on their face. Sometimes lipgloss an mascara is all a girl needs. I found out that when I stopped using a lot of make-up my pores unclogged an my skin naturally began to clear up. Make-up often cloggs your pores, an does not allow you skin to breathe. Not to mention that taking it off every single day creates a "rubbing raw" effect. Every now an again I may goto the extent of applying a good bit of make-up, but usually only if I am going out somewhere really special. Truth is, make-up often looks fake because your facial skin has many different shades, so applying an "all one color" powder or liquid can make you look more like a doll than a pretty girl.

Yep yep!

Although I'm one of those girls who wears "the works". I use foundation/concealer, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara and blush. The only thing I refuse to wear is lipstick. It looks fake on me for whatever reason, so I normally do a lightly tinted lip gloss or whatever.

But by everyone's standards on here, it would seem that me wearing all of that would make me look like a trampy whore. I'm pretty sure I don't!

I just mean the way some women cake on the make-up. Thick eyeliner in every corner of their eye. Bright red lipstick with thick brown lipstick so that is stands out, Maacara so put on that their is huge clumpage, blush that looks more like a paint job, eyeshadow that is bright blue an that is not only on the eyes, and not to mention 3 inches of powder. I have seen this.T.T sadly

I always thought that Make-ups were supposed to improve your appearance by hiding flaws and enhancing desired features.

Like, you minimize skin blemishes, maybe wrinkes, and "Shape" face through visual illusion. And you enhance features such as eyes, eye lashes, and lips.

Anyway, I remember watching a sex documentary. Similar to what has been said here, the reason for doing certain manipulations with make-up is to achieve the ideal visual cues of a sexually ready female.

For example, blush makes it look like your face is flushed with blood. Which occurs when the female is aroused. A full, glossy, and bright lips is the same thing; blood vessels move closer to skin surface during arousal. Long, spread out eye lashes also occur during arousal.

To me, I don't care how much a chick puts on make-up. As long as it looks good by properly presenting her face. Though, I'd prefer the simple, natural approach. Lip gloss, some bit of concealer, maybe, and mascara if ya feel like it. I'd rather a girl be quick than looking glamourous.

I think the girls have got ir right -- wether you use a lot or a little, it's all up to how the individual feels about it. I knew girls in High School who looked as if they used a spatula to put makeup on, and i never liked it.
As i syated before , I think it should be used to enhance their natual beauty. Most of the girls I have gone out with don't use a lot of makeup and they have snesitivties to it, and they still are beautiful-- I guess that colors my opinion a but, but I also think some made up women are absolutlely gorgeous when fully done up. I just dont like it to the point where they look like a clown or are trying to pick up tricks or something (the streetwalker look). I think it cheapens the natural beauty inherent in all girls and women.

One thing I can't stand tho is nail polish-- for some reason either on toes or fingers, it just creeps me out. I guess i'm weird but I like the natual look of a girl's nails.

Kudos to Tiffany and cheesevixen for getting the true girls opinon out in the open.

Those people that do the works an don't look like complete sluts are more often than not on TV, or done by make-up artists that are professionally trained on how to do it. Normal girls just don't know that many techniques, and even if they do, they are not under those kinds of lights. If those stars went out of the studios with th make-up still on it would look A LOT different.

If you know how to use make-up to actually ACHIEVE that desired look, than it won't be as bad. How many girls now how to do that without a manual though? Not very many . the way WE see ourselves , and the way we really look are different.

If a girl thinks shes good looking when putting on makeup then thats what really matters right? It doesn't matter what you put on. If you are trying to get a guy by putting on lotsa makeup then you are probably shooting for the wrong kind of person. Go for someone a little quieter who doesn't care so much about looks but more for what is inside. He will probably respect you for that. Guys who care about looks aren't proper "gentlemen" are they? For instance, all girls who hang out in the bad lad groups tend to all be good looking. Strange as guys don't really care whats on the inside. Thats why I think too much makeup really does affect what people think of you.
