Saiyuki

Well, I'm not sure how many fans there are of this stupendous series on this board, but I felt like making a topic, so here it is. So, who watches it?

I've completed Gensomaden Saiyuki, Saiyuki Reload and am currently on episode 15 of Reload Gunlock.

I have yet to find an anime that I enjoy more than this. The characters are just so well done.

Thoughts?

I highly reccomend that you do get into it. It may not be the best action anime around...far from, but for characters, it can't be beaten.

HA ... you caught me sneaking around

I love Saiyuki so much it will always be a part of my written obsessions list everywhere I go

although I think I'm in trouble cause my hubby just pulled into the driveway -- again LoL
I don't get many dishes done when i'm sitting in my office chair

I'm doing quite well to keep from adding to my bills -- even though Senshi let it slip that Salty Dog 4 artbook is readily available.
I'll be calm for a little while longer... maybe.
Gotta have everything Minekura ever made !WoOt!

I was going to start a thread for this but I found this instead.

I love this anime. I've only seen up to the 10th dvd of the Saiyuki and soon I'll be up to Saiyuki Reload.

My favorite character is Goku. What is everyone else's favorite character.

Woah, someone actually revived my thread eh?

Don't even bother with Reload and Gunlock. Get the manga instead, it's far better. It's always good to watch the second season of Gensomaden however as Homura doesn't grace the manga with his presence.

Anywho, favourite character is definately Sanzo. Well, Ukoku is pretty cool, but you need to see reload for that.

Wait, Homura isn't in the manga? That whole 2nd season was based around him and his plans with the scriptures.

Is Reload and Gunlock no good? I might buy them just to see what happens. I've seen the manga at stores and they looked pretty good. I've got to get those one day.

Homura wasn't in the manga, nope.

Reload isn't bad or anything, but for the most part it's just fillers until they get into the story about Kami-sama (which was in the origional manga, not reload). Gunlock is the real dissapointment. It's alright if you haven't seen the manga (which it follows very poorly), but the manga shows so much more about the pasts of the characters; Nii Jyeni in particular.

If Himura wasn't in the manga then did they just stick to reviving Gyumaho with the scriptures while Sanzo and the rest tried to stop them. I'm going to get the manga and try to see all the differences from the anime.

Okay, so I just finished the Saiyuki manga scans. I asked other forums how good it was and they all said playing solitaire was less of a waste of time. I, however, like this one, but I'm curious, do I have to read the Reload manga? Does Reload wrap it all up?

If anyone can get their hands on all 9 volumes of Saiyuki scanned, I would be eternaly greatful since I can't find Reload scans anywhere.

Gaiden looks interesting enough as well...

A waste of time? Hahaha.

The Reload manga actually isn't finished yet. Minekura has yet to complete the series and to be honest, I don't think she has any intention of completing it; at least not anytime soon.

You don't have to read the Reload manga, but I highly reccomend it. It sheds a lot of light on some things that happened in Gensomaden and of course continues with the story. Ukoku is further revealed, more pasts of the 4 main characters and Hazel makes his appearnce. So no, you don't have to read the Reload manga by any stretch, but I highly reccomend it. You should be able to find the first 4 Reload manga volumes in stores, fully translated. The fifth is due out in September up here in Canada, so I'm assuming it will be available then in the states as well, if not already.

As far as Gaiden goes, it's definately something to look into. They don't have any translated manga yet, but if you look hard enough online, you can find some fan translated versions of the first manga, perhaps the second. The anime version of Gensomaden put the first manga of Gaiden into the episodes in season 2, admist all of the Homura stuff.

What I meant was, could you not read "Reload" and still find that the first series had a good ending? I know they come nowhere near the main villian though. Is the anime over?

I could've sworn I saw Volume 9 of Saiyuki Reload in my local Border's with a "THE END" on the last page. but I may be getting the first series confused with it.
