Courage and Lions - Should they be together?

Why is it that courage is always affiliated with Lions? Lions arent especially brave, look at Scar from the Lion King. And how would anyone know? If you got too close the lion would either eat or maul you? Anyone else wondering about this?

...So, in your reasoning why lions aren't courageous, you reference a cartoon character?

Anyway. Lions are ferocious, big, quick, powerful, and curious. Though the females hunt more, the males have their manes, which look like some sort of symbol of the top of the animal hierarchy.

I think the same, how you can reason your words on a cartoon character?

Well I guess that lion was chosen as the king of animals, the symbol of bravery mostly cause of it's magestic look. You have to agree that a lion is a very impressive looking animal. No wonder, it's a mighty predator that may deafeat you easily, especially if you alone. The roar of a lion isn't the sqeak of a rabbit or the chicken lets say. I can see all the reasons in the world for lion as the brave king of the animal world.

That question has always confused me. I know what itmeans but why is it associated with them. Id refer courage and bravery to some sort of old warrior. He has the courage of a knight. Or some sort of thing like that. Then it would make sense

A lion's curiousity and primal rage merely outweighs it's sense of fear. It's not so much brave as it is chemically imbalanced.
