| Lord Have Mercy | I'm a big ol' office monkey government type guy. But mostly I just get paid to read CNN and play NationStates. Also, mock my bosses. That's pretty neat too. I get paid somewhere in the $1,200/month range. But I get free everything, so I don't really care about the payment.

| | Sadly, I have the same job I did last time I saw this type of thread. >.>; I am a "Sales Associate" at CVS/pharmacy. Basically that means I work the front store as a cashier. However, I've been at this job for four years now and I'm almost never the main cashier, especially after I went full time. I do all the floor work for the most part, stocking shelves, putting up an taking down the weekly and monthly sales signs, setting up endcaps, pretty much just anything that needs to be done. I'm the backup ringer though so I do spend a fair amount of time on the register, which sucks. People are unbelievably stupid these days. My IQ drops 5 points every time I work. -_- As far as wages...they suck lol. I started at $6.50 when I was part time and now I'm up to an awesome... $7.37! Yeah, it's not really worth it but for right now it pays my bills/rent and my coworkers are pretty cool for the most part, so it's only the customers that give us problems. At least since I'm full time I get paid for holidays whether I work them or not. I go out of my way to make sure I have said holidays off hehe. So yeah...not a great job by any stretch, but it provides what I need for the moment so I have no plans on looking elsewhere for the time being. | ||||||||

1,299 | I'm an independent representative of a direct selling telecommunications company called ACN. I do two things: help people save money on the phone bills including local, long distance, VoIP, and video phone, and I teach others to do what I do. Everytime my customers pay their phone bills, I get a percentage of it. Month after month. Even though I signed them up one time a long time ago. As long as they remain my customer, I get paid every month off of their phone bills. That's residual income. And when I teach others how to do ther same thing I do, everytime their customers pay their bills, not only does the new reps get paid, I also get small percentage from their customers' bills. That's called leverage. The business model is very similar to the insurance and real estate industry. They usually rely on direct marketing and word-of-mouth. Each and every agent are independent. Everytime they sell a home or aquire a client, they get acommission. But if they start their own office, they can hire other agents and collect a percentage of their agents' commission. The dfference between those two industries and mine is that instead of a one time comission frome one sales transaction, I continue to get residual income every month. Since I also teach others how to do what I do, I get to personally choose who I work with. I'm doing this business with my brother and some good friends. Working with people you love and care about is much better than working with people you hate. And I get to meet lots of new people from different backgrounds. So, I learn a lot in this business. I learn about life, people, the things they went through, and finance. Because I'm an independent represenmtative, this is my own business. Legally, I'm a business owner. And with that, I can legally claim business expenses in my income tax and get a deduction. Many peeople bitch about paying high gas prices to get to work. I pay for gas too but since I can claim it as business expense, I get a tax deduction. On gas. Eating out? If I was conducting business whilst eating, that's business expense, thus tax deductable. Travel? If I'm flying to a convention or even meet business prospects, tax deductable. And it's all legal. If you are an independent ski instructor, all of your ski equipment and other expenses you have pay to allow you to teach skiing are tax deductable. If you have a home office, your computer, your office supplies, your fiber optics connection, and even your rent can be tax deductable. Hell, one actress purchased a horse and claimed it as business expense. Her reason was that she needed a horse to train for a movie. And it was accepted. So, that's what I do. It's pretty nice, actually. My own hours, work with whoever I want.

7,942 | My girlfriends ex actually did something like that SAM, except he didn't do it right and wound up 500 in the hole. His partner did a pretty extensive job and drives a Hummer around. No offense, but basically, it's a pyramid scheme, according to what I've heard. You basically pay to get in the company under someone else, and you have to keep signing people up for the business and eventually having new people pay you to come in and work under you. If you keep it up, you'll rake in a shitload of dough, but if you don't you basically **** yourself over. Sean, the Cards play 81 home games, 81 away, 162 in a season, just like all other major leage teams lol. They're playing the Mets tomorrow, through Thursday, so expect a lot of disgruntled Cards fans ![]() As for me, I don't work from September to May, but come June, I'll be working probably 5 days a week from 9-5, proofreading the IRS tax code and other intern-y office bs. 13 bucks an hour, 7 hours a day isn't too bad. My only gripe is that I don't get a paid lunch hour, but at the same time, that would make me full time, meaning I'd get money taken out for benefits and health care, which I already get courtesy of my parents. Plus the state, city AND government take out a combined 20+% of every pay check. Oh well over 900 every 2 weeks isn't shabby at 19.

1,299 | I'm sorry, Pete. You heard wrong. In fact you totally misunderstood how ACN works. You don't get anyone to pay you to "join the business." Yes, there's a fee to start your business but it goes to ACN to cover the costs of supporting you and your business. For that fee, you get ACN to do customer service, billing, marketing materials, and of course the license to legally operate your business all over the world. Anybody who has ever started their own business can tell you that is a sweet deal. And anybody who has started a business will tell you it's not free, but an investment. ACN is NOT a pyramid scheme. In fact, the ONLY time ACN was legally accused of being a pyramid scheme was by an Australian government agency. However, the Australian court ruled that ACN was not a pyramid scheme. http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.../itemId/712090 Quote:
In addition, ACN is a member of the BBB, Better Business Bureau and has a satisfactory record. http://search.detroit.bbb.org/nis/ne...32000028000808 Quote:
Bottomline is that ACN is a legitimate business with a business model very similar to the real estate and insurance industries. It has been featured in many respected publications such as Inc. 500, Fortune Magazine, Smart Business, Success From Home, and USA Today. And just recently, Donald Trump himself has aligned himself with ACN.

n/a | Up til spring break, I worked for a law firm for almost 2 years, which kicked ass; $8.50 per hour, plus $.40 every mile I drove, which an average was about 20 miles a day. I quit because the new office manager was starting to hit on me, and I was tired of driving around. I landed a job working for my parents' realtor, which is about $10 an hour. I was able to trade my Saturn for a GT Mustang, which is really, really nice.

| Lord Have Mercy | I cannot wait for it to get publis [sic]. I am fairly certain that it will end up on the New York Times' Best Sellers List. Honestly, I'we [sic] complete faith in it. Man, my misuse of the whole [sic] thing makes me look even stupider than I try to on a daily basis. Thanks for playing! P.S. I am still in the Navy. Thank God!
