I'm currently playing 3 as well, however, my copy of Conquests has gone lost
so I'm stuck playing regular Civ 3. Who do you usually play as? My favorite Civilizations are the German, the Greeks, the Japanese, and the Ottomans. They have the best units in my opinion and also get the best combination of bonuses. I basically hate anything naval. The game is truly brilliant though and you can always pick it up and never get bored of playing.

Have you played the 4th part? I haven't yet but I ache to get it.....I really want it.

I like the Germans the most as they are both Scientific (sorry if I mis spelled that word) and militaristic. It is them I'm playing with now also I have downloaded additional units for them Tiger tanks, Marder, Railroad cannons and Stuka dive bombers
Let me know if you want to know where to get them they are free, submitted by fans with animations and sonds

Apart from the Germans I made the Vikings and I like Russians and the Romans.
Yeah the series is genious in my opinion, it's not made anything like it (that I know of).

As for Civ IV I'm not gonna buy it, it seems like their attempts to make it into a 3d game just gets worse and worse after each attempt. It's cool they want to get it to be 3d but their attempts is rather rubbish in my opinion.
I urge you to download a demo of the game before you buy it, I did and I'm still playing Civ3 even the artilleries and bombers don't hit shit...

Yeah, scientific civs kick ass! Oh and if you don't mind, I would love to check that site out. I've been searching for a good one for awhile but if you have one, well all the better.

Well, my brother had IV and said it's good and all the reviews I've seen have raved about it being better than any Civ before it. Also, I'm not really turned off by the 3D graphics. I especially like the new additions of things like being able to see the cities actually grow and sprawl the landscape. And the samurai unit looks bad as fuck (that means I like it alot) in the IV installment.

The more i hear about this game, the more i want it, i have seen some of the Civilisation games before, they appeared to be like Sim City, but not as good, it appears what i have heard has been wrong.

Do any of you chaps have any screen shots of this game?

And how does it play compared to Age of Empires II if any of you have that game?

Well I don't have any screenshots since I play it on my own computer (which still doesn't have internet for some f'ed up reason) but I can tell you that it's addictive.......I would advise to never start....It's seriously that good. Especially if you like strategy games. This is one of the best, if not the best. Oh and Age Of Empires is real time strategy and this game is turn absed and.......just much more epic. You don't control small settlements like in AOE II but rather a whole civilzation, hence the name of the game.

Get it if you love strategy games. And if you really like turn based strategy, there's no better bet than this.

Well Leviathan it is not like Sim City at all.
You are the ruler of the empire of your choise, you build military units, wonders of the world, structures like barracks and marketplaces in your towns and you research on evrything from the alphabet to motorized transportation and computers.

It's a complex game and it's really awesome to play for hours and hours. I recommend you give it a try. Check this out.

You can build a map that looks like middle earth, you can change the nations names to Mordor, Rohan etc. etc. you can make/download units like the Uruk-Hai and destroy the world as you conquer it.
I find it really cool to burn/abandon my newly capured cities

You can be evil as shit or work together with other countries and ally with a mutual protection pact, there is so many possibilities in the series and it is one of the most popular PC series world wide.

Truly it is......none of what he says even scrapes the coolness of this game though. You simply have to play it to understand just how fun it is. It would be hard to sum up into a few sentences, all the shit you can do in this game.

But just so you know, the buildings and stuff are not built like they are in AOE or Sim City. You have cities in which you designate projects (meaning what you build) and whatever building, wonder, etc. that you build, will be put in that city and can be seen from the city interface. So you won't necassarily see the building on the world map like you would with AOE (however, they changed that in Civ 4 but that's another story).

All I can say is try this puppy out, and if you don't like it, it's only 20 Pounds (I think that's how much it costs if it costs $10/10 Euro). All I know is that it's really cheap now.

This game sounds phenomenal, any game where you can take on everyone and be an absolute bastard to all other nations and have Uruk-Hai is a game i need.
