You know, its not so bad if they ask to join. Thats what this thread is partially for, of course. However, when they ask HOW to join, that just stresses the fact that they didn't even bother reading the intial post and they have no idea whats going on or even what we're about.

You join by trial of combat. You got what it takes, you're in. You don't, you're not. End of story. Further details can be aquired via pm but EVERYTHING about joining The Masters is in the first post.

Now...The MMD ranks have been updated. I'm glad that things are moving with a fair clip in that regard and hope it shall continue to.

As to the school, as you can see it is for those with more scholarly persuits...those who are more interested in the magical discipline than military, though I'm sure all Masters are welcome who wishto attend. Does anyone have any questions, comments, or concerns in regards to this? If not, it will be made a permanent part of the club on the following weekend.

On that note, I wish to stress it isn't something for if you're JUST a caster. If you flat out don't and won't use magic, you can always come to try and find 'flaws' that casters seem to have. If we start the shops up again, I'm sure there will be a number of items, enchantments, and possibly even grafts open to all Masters. On the other hand, casters are the ones who benefit the most.

Anyone that has a rep that I know of, feel free to PM me for a teaching spot as you're most likely to get it. For the newer people, I'll have to see both your ABB and a few battles before I learn your talents in the area. I'm not sure if Godhand is going to step into the decision as to who makes the spot or not, though as the Head of it, I'd like to see your stuff anyway. In likely hood, I shall end up teaching the Water section, less we have someone new who's better qualified in the spot.

I'd like to go back to instructing people in the use of and defense against Gravity. We seem to have gathered a few people that have it squirreled away in their bios and its always interesting to cover basics as well as go over new ideas.

Shops...thats the one thing I really haven't been working that much on. Do I owe anyone a weapon?

Zell... I could request that you challenge me to see that you are up to the tasks. If it is asked of not to go through with a challenge agaisnt you, then I apologize. But if it is agreed that we shall duel... then the way you battle against me will decide your place amongst The Masters... if you get a place that is.

I think I'll explain it nice and slow. To get IN you have to FIGHT someone to prove you are WORTHY. There's no other way to join. you can;t just say you WANT to and then expect to be LET in.

I wish to reiterate the idea of not using RPBing as your sole method of entry. Because if you are using RPBing as your sole method of entry you are limiting yourself and requiring RPB to claim that you know how to RP, which you so claim to be a part of. So if you plan to be a Roleplaying Club in the most general of terms, meaning RP and RPB, make it that way. Else you are just a RPB club, and in which case I will have to close your RP since it would violate the terms of the club.

As the current mod over the RP and an experienced RPer, RPing and RPBing work on two different levels. So making the claim that RPBing is your only method of entry in the club says that you are completely ignoring that you said you do both sides. Meaning that people should either be tested in RP or RPB or both. Because an experienced RPBer does not make an experienced RPer. One test does not declare them valid for both.

So make your decision now, are you RPB or RP, or are you both. Currently I see you as being only RPB, in spite of the RP that you hold in my RP Forum. So decide where you lie on these matters. Because if you decide you are both, as the Club Moderator I will insist on two tests not one or else you will not be allowed to do RPs. It is simple as that.

Oh really? Frankly I saw it as easiest to test them on RPB to begin with as testing them in RP would require a story arc to be constructed.

However, if someone wishes to provide an example of story Rping then that would be acceptable and would go further towards our accepting of them into the club. Still, a RPB element is necissary given the competive nature of the club as it relates to such things as the Tournament of Arms. An RPB test is required first and full most at the outset as it gives a more indepth perception of the RPer as a whole as it relates to small scale stories.

I will take what you've said into account, however, and further more require a sample of 'RP' to be submitted in the initial post requesting entry into the club.

I don't mind to do it. If the person prefers to be examind by RPG and it fine, I'll do it. He can PM me or post here if it'll be agreed by all the sides.

Then when you are telling your possible members how to enter, do not say simply to challenge one of your members to a RPB. Give them the option of doing a RP or RPB. Not everyone RPBs, I do not, so however much reliance you place on RPBs as your scale for worthiness, if you are going to be a general Roleplaying Club you will need to allow for either and you cannot force people to RPB if they only want to RP. Because forcing them or saying that need to do RPBs to advance means you are saying RPB is more important and thus placing yourself in a RPB status rather than a General one. In which case you are becoming more like the Phoenix Knights. Differences in story would remain the only difference you have, I would prefer that not to be the case, since everything else you have to idential to the Phoenix Knights setup, and they were here first on TFF regardless of your history on other forums.

Pardon the intrusion but if you wish to RPB, I have a proposal for you. No deathmatch and no club vs. club (though members from clubs will be participating).

It will be Anarchy and I vs. two of you. You may choose who will fight, if you wish to fight at all.

I figured I would give some more clarification to what I am asking. Since I did not go into everything. Back when Anomaly asked to make the club, I was hestiant, since it looked exactly like Phoenix Knights. It really does, the set up is the same and the way you go about things is the same, only real difference is names and background. But Anomaly said in the post that it was going to RP and RPB, I still have the registration post, so with that I approved the club, since it was going to be different in that it was going to encompass both roleplaying aspects we have at TFF.

However, when the method for entry keep being posted as battling a member, I became rather confused. Since RPB was only half of what was stated. I was trying to figure out why RP was being excluded from the entry. And Anomaly's reason never satisified me, I just it pass to see if something would become of it. And as I read the posts to members wanting to join, I keep seeing them saying RPB to enter.

I find this a contradiction of the statement that was in the registration, since RP and RPB was what was said. It seemed that you were going to be handling both equally. And having seen that RPB is being heavily emphasized everywhere here, I need clarification.

That was where my post came in from yesterday. I need to know what the club is, are you General Roleplaying or you are RPBing? Because with a RP on the side pratically and RPB in the front, it does not seem like you are meeting the General Roleplaying stance that was orignally stated. So I need to know where you play to go with the club, are you going to focus only on RPB and no deal with RP? Are you going to deal with both equally? Are you going to RPB with RP only be in an internal thing. I need to know where the club falls into the Roleplaying, since as it stands your are in conflict with your mission statement you gave me in the registeration post.

It was brought to my attention that an editation to our joining rules has been made to try and meet this particular, and well made, point but that you may not yet have been made aware of since, for whatever reason, it hasent been directly refered to by anyone else here.

How Does One Join?

Requests will be answered here, but if you are not already a member of The Masters (and believe me, we will know if you are) you will have to meet certain criteria.
1.) If you are a past champion of a TFF sponsored tournament you are welcome to apply.
2.) Failing this, you may battle a Masters member in a Masters organized fight to determine if you are elidgable for entry. It will be a requirement as of May 7 2006 that all applicants supply a sample of an 'rp' post in their INITIAL request to join The Masters.
3.) On certain, rare, occasions offer of membership will be presented to those who have demonstrated remarkable skill in battle outside of an official setting.

That really should be a seperate rule in my opinion but, at any rate, I beleive Anomaly will be posting sometime later this eve (ok, morning if you want to get technical) so he aught to be able to clear anything up then if needs be.

With all do respect, how we go about recruiting our members our buisness and is up to us, more specificaly, up to the Grand Master. What you call 'RPB' is a required skill in The Masters. However, Story RP on the other - while we do like to see members capable of it, and tend to frown upon the lack of the skill - is not a required skill. If we see that you can RPB, then we know that you know the basics of how to RP.

On the same note, we believe that a RPB must include a story in it. It is a story between two people, in a combative form. If someone can RPB properly, than they can Story RP.

I personally am not very strong in Story RP, yet I hold the leadership over one of our Divisions, and am the highest ranking Master under GodHand. I gained these ranks partially through my RPB Skill.

Basically, as Godean has said, for EVALUATION PURPOSES, RPB is simpler.

Now I've given the matter some contemplation and I believe I could set up a system in which a person could create a Story RP and it could be run on an experimental basis. however, that would be a much more complex set of criteria.

As things have stood I thought to use RP and more advbanced RPB as a basis for ADVANCEMENT in rank within the Masters and a very simple showing of skills at the entry level. Thats why only a simple RPB, no necessity to win and the loser will not necissarily have to 'go away'...just a simple demonstration. This is why I added in a sample of story RPing after your initial post.

But Andromeda, if you are confused or perplexed you only need ask me to clarfy matters in private. As it stands it seems your making an aweful clutter in this thread and only restating what you've said previously. If you need further clarification of matters, my PM box is not full.

But having said that, how are we like the Phoenix Knights? We have a stress on RPing, to be sure, and ALL asspects there of, though story RP is of course going to be slow to START. But we are not so competative as to require someone WIN an RPB in order to enter, nor so heartless as to cast aside a previous member should they meet defeat. Where is the similarity? I'm not seeing it.

But, if you do not like the amendments we have made thus far to be more open to those that wish to seek us through a RP route, then clarfiy precisely what it is you would like to see. As I siad, I believe if it isn't enough I may have something in mind that can be instituted, but I'd rather save Story RP for ranking purposes for the time being until our ranks have filled out a little more.

As it is, your challenge would be viewed as a request by yourself and Anarchy for admission into the clan given where that challenge was made. In future, please address all such challenges privately. If there is no specific target for your challenge, then feel free to send me a private message and I shall relay your message to the group as a whole.

But if anyone from my club wishes to fight you, I will not stand in their way.

I desire to, but as they're from the Brotherhood, I think at least something should be up for grabs for the winners...


Also, from ALL of the forums I've been on, I've yet to see the Mods have control over the clubs. At most, they've been there to simply be just that, mods. After all, RPB club sounds that's like all we do- which isn't, so kinda hard to say that's what we must be to have an RPB as part of the intro. We simply wish that the members joining have some skill in that area. It certainly cuts down on the noobs and those who only ask to join because our club is "cool".

Anyway, just mentioning as I was surprized the admins/entire forum has no say in the club section- just the mods.

I understand where Andromeda is coming from, for the most part, as a degree of professionalism needs to be maintained. Chaos, while fun, isn't tidy. But I'd rather work with Andromeda then have what appears as little more than arguement going back and forth in the club thread.

As to Cthulhu and Anarchy, if you wish to meet their challenge Mage, by all means do. I believe I will leave the second position of this little conflict in the hands of the MMD. No need for prizes...its all in good fun. After all, reputation is what is set on the line in such conflicts as these.

Just to specify, it's not that we have no say -- I'd just rather let them do their jobs without any of us other supermods or administrators having to come in and do it for them. When they're not around, sure, I'll take care of any issues which may arise, but otherwise I allow them to run their section the way they wish to do so... Andromeda has been running this specific area of the forum since late 2002.
