He made the problems in the lesser income community's (ghetto's) noticed and deserves every bit of recognition he gets.
Before you come back and start blabbering on about how hip hop is total garbage gain some knowledge in it besides what you hear on the top 50 on mtv okay? The biggest difference between rock and hip hop is that hip hop is more than a genre, it's a lifestyle. Sure rock takes more skill but hip hop takes more loyalty and is a lot harder to come up in. People want to hear new rock bands, it's a lot harder for a new hip hop artist to get a hand up without 2 others pushing him back. |
Funny how I grouped rap and hip hop in different genre's, eh? I actually would listen to Tupac and the older rap that wouldn't bother me, but I was mainly speaking of new age bullshit. HOWEVER, just because Tupac changed a generation doesn't mean it was still skilled. He influenced a bunch of people, and yeah helped the gheto communities get noticed and what not, but that's still avoiding the point of rap or hip hop. Hell I'll admit artist like Tupac and alike who actually did write their songs and preach about good things did take some skill, nothing takes ZERO skill, but the difficulty in just RAPPING itself only takes some rhyming words and a beat, which is nothing.
My post were about skill, not whether a certain rock or rap band influenced an entire generation.

I've heard rap all my life, whether on MTV, from my sisters, or from friends. Any man or woman with common sense knows it takes almost no skill. But as for my knowledge on rock my entirely family ARE musicians and before I got into rock there was...BLUES! Then the 50's and 60's musicians like The Beatles, Elvis, ACDC, Led Zepplin, and on and on I slowly went up the chart. I know a lot about rock my friend, I grew up on it more than anything. But that doesn't give me the lack of knowledge about rap. Oh, and one more thing...I never liked Green day all that much, but they are placed within the genre of rock no matter how you look at it. Serverd? Right, completely, totally, ridicullusly, amazingly...not really.
Have a nice day.
