But about thread. This is Lets study Finnish. I will teach every who wants to learn Finnish. I can tell you about Finlands culture and of Finlands language of course. As you see, I'm not good in English but because I'm Finnish, I can teach and tell about Finland. So everyone who wants learn about Finland and Finlands language, tell me what you want to know and learn.

I ask Red Magician to teach here too, but I'm not sure does he want...
But that's not todays problem...

I put here what Final Fantasy means in Finnish:

Final Fantasy ~ Viimeinen Fantasia

EDIT:// Red Magician accepted my request and will teach with me. Yahoo!!! So I and Red Magician will teach you Finnish. When I'm not here Red Magician will answer to your questions but I'm still your main teacher in here.

I've actually always wanted to learn the language. I've been quite enthraled with the country as of late. Unfortunately though, Finnish books are a scarce commodity, especially where I live.

I'm not sure that I can pin point an exact starting point that I should ask questions about. It's quite a broad topic. I suppose I'll start with the ulmats, or whatever they're called. The a and the o with the dots over them. How are those pronounced?

Finnish wouldn't help me that much in America. Teach me some damn Spanish! I know a little Spanish already... but not as much as I should. Spanish will probably be the dominant language in America by like the year 2020!

Gawsh!

You see, I don't know the letter where the A and E are connected, or the O and the E. We don't really have the letter in English, just different pronounciations of the same letter. I've come to suspect that the A one is like the a in cat, but the o one evades me.

Ä letter should pronounce just like it a in the word cat.
I don't know how the letter Ö prenousing should explain to you. In english you don't have thats prenousing almost any word so I can't explain it to you. Anything else questions? Any questions about words.

(Maybe Red Magician could tell it when he comes back (I hope so))

How about some just some basic everday words that you need to get you by? Hello, goodbye, how are you, etc.

Gotta start somewhere right?

Well maybe I can help some on the letters. I don't know a croc of Finnish but we have some of those letters in German as well.

ä is pronounced like the a in cat. We covered that one already.

ü can only really be explained by saying that, if you took the letter u and e and sounded them out simultaneously, that would be the sound. Most possibly the closes sounding word that hits that sound in an english word would be the u in a word like Turkish. Take that u sound and add the e to it so that it gets dragged out more. I guess writing it like this might help: Tuerkish. I think that kind of nails it. I can't really make sure since I can't hear you but whatever.

ö is about the same but more of an o with e. Hard to find a word fitting but I think you get the idea (or not?).

Whatever, I just realised I'll never try and be a teacher again.....especially on the internet.

Okay, here's a question that I need to ask for every language, as it's fairly important. How do you conjugate regular verbs?

English example:

I walk
you walk
he/she walks
we walk
they walk

Like that, and also, I'm not sure if it's a regular verb or irregular, but the verb to be, is usually fairly important.

I am
you are
he/she is
we are
they are

And thank you for the above.

Every verb conjugate same way in Finnish

ex.
I am ~ minä olen
you are ~ sinä olet
he/she is ~ hän on
we are ~ me olemme
they are ~ he ovat

and second

ex.

I walk ~ minä kävelen
you walk ~ sinä kävelet
he/she walks ~ hän kävelee
we walk ~ me kävelemme
they walk ~ he kävelevät

And here is their basic form

I ~ minä
You ~ sinä
He/she ~ hän
We ~ me
You ~ te
They ~ he

As you see he and she is same word and you means two different words...

And second half of this post teaching is here

I am ~ minä olen
you are ~ sinä olet
he/she is ~ hän on
we are ~ me olemme
you are ~ te olette
they are ~ he ovat

I walk ~ minä kävelen
you walk ~ sinä kävelet
he/she walks ~ hän kävelee
we walk ~ me kävelemme
you walk ~ te kävelette
they walk ~ he kävelevät

As you see both list of verbs have same ending.
And start of the verbs is almost same...

Next question...?

Okay, these were really good actually, I just need to clarify one thing. What is the root word of the verb? Is Ole by itself how it would look with no conjigation, or are there letters that were dropped when it was conjigated?
