The only thing that I do not like about it, is the story movies in the game.

Well first of all I won’t speak about bad graphics or the absent of voice acting, cus for the period of time when the game was released it gave what they call a “breakthrough experience” and had a great graphical design.

What I really didn’t like was the way the story line was designed. I played FF7 after I saw Advent Children so you can say I had a little spoiled experience because I obviously knew what was going to happen in the big picture, but nether the less I had a great time playing. But I expected more from the story!

The whole idea seems so huge that it was meant to have a sequel, but in the game it looked to me as the writers tried to fit a huge world in a small box. The whole relation with Aerith has a great start but leaved me with a feeling of an incomplete story. Sure, we see Cloud interact with her, but nothing more, they have a few of their special scenes. If you compare the FF8 love story between Rinoa and Squall and Cloud and Aerith you will notice that losing Rinoa would bring you much more pain and suffering, because you get to know her much more then Aerith.

After Aerith is gone we don’t see Cloud or the other party members talk about her much, it left me thinking “what was all the big fuss about. did they forget about her?”. The ending leaves you a little stunned, you fought for so long and hard, but in the end nothing helped, but oh wait! What is that? It’s Aerith! The End.

Makes you wonder what the hell? But if you closely read the story and listen to what the main people say you will understand what happened and why did Aerith go to her doom even though she knew what awaited her.

Still I felt the writers had more to tell then what they did.

Breeding Chocobos obviously didn’t come out as fun as the designers wanted it to.

I didn’t find the mini games much fun.

I guess that that’s about it.

I think Final Fantasy VII is a very overrated game in the series. The characters all seem to have a stronger relation to the ShinRa Corporation than they do with each other. I like how they all have such strong reasons to join the fight, but I never felt that there was so much of a relation between each other. Even Cloud and Tifa will seem somewhat distant from each other at times. Tifa never seems to want to tell Cloud what she is thinking and Cloud never knows what he's thinking anyway.

The biggest flaw with VII is the lack of thought boxes/soliliquoy. The only things we know about these characters are what they say or what flashbacks they have. I love getting into the head of character and making of VII just didn't allow for that key plot point technique.
