Dislikes about Final Fantasy VII

The only thing I didn't like about FF7, was the graphics. Sure they were advanced for 97, but now, they're crap. End of story.

I didn't really like Barret and Cait Sith. They're almost useless & irritating.

I don't like that Aeris, who is a good healer, gets to die & no one tells us that beforehand so that we don't bother leveling her up.

What got me was not so much the graphics as a whole but just the character models which looked like lego, where as the background graphics looked nice, surely they could have kept it consistent.

Also I feel the overall game was rushed, it seemed kind of long because a) You are leveling up a lot of the time and b) its 3 discs but the 2nd and third where quite short. c) All the small errors and glitches as somebody mentioned above, as well as the d) Short ending.

But overall it was a good game, it may have had FFVI play a role but thats to be expected, I am not going to play pick and chose but I am sure FFVI would have taken parts from the others as well as other games.

Bad things eh? Hmm...I would probably have to say the graphics as people mentioned. They're awful but what really bothered me was the character's arms. I don't know. Their upper arms were huge whil their lower arms were small then their hands were really big. It just irritated me for some reason.

The game did seem pretty short after Disc 1. Disc 2 or 3 weren't as long as Disc 1 was. Some more details and new things would've been nice though.

I didn't like how big Cloud's and Sephiroth's swords were. Talk about encouraging the male 14 year old audience to be even more annoying with their god-moding crap in RPs, lol. I didn't like how they made Vincent and Yuffie secret characters, either. If they weren't "secret characters" and were just apart of the main story-line, they probably would've had more personality, and I would've liked Vincent more.

one word. Hands. Lowl I COULD NOT STAND THIER HANDS! lowl, it annoyed me through the whole game. It annoymed me to no end. They had no hands, just stubs. I realize it was innovative for its time but.. COMON GIVE THEM HANDS!

The things I hated from Final Fantasy 7 was the battle system, the gameplay, and the graphics were a little disappointing for the PS1 time.

the fact that some cuss words were *edited and others were'nt. Kind of mundane, But if only it would come back as a remake with voice actors. but many people will slit their wrists before that happens

Off the top of my head, I can think of:

Storyline - Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's bad, but it wasn't that original. In my opinion, it borrows too much from VI and I don't mean the old bad guy appears, party goes to their lair and defeats them + love story somewhere, etc formula. Off the top, I can remember (I knows there's more, I just can't remember them right now):

The party start the game fighting an evil corporation but then find out that the real threat is what turns out to be the main villain. VI with The Empire then Kefka, VII with Shinra then Sephiroth and Jenova.

The main female character (or in VII's case, one of them) is half Human and half something else. Terra being half Human and half Esper and Aeris being half Human and half Ancient/Cetra.

The main villain is driven insane by an experiment. Kefka with the Magic infusing experiment and Sephiroth when finding out about the experiment that created him.

The main villain kills one of the characters. Kefka with General Leo (yes, I know he isn't exactly a main character since he isn't part of the party, but he's still pretty important) and Sephiroth/Jenova with Aeris.

When the Weapons are released in VII, it's much like the eight Dragons and DoomGaze in VI.

Character Development/Background - Too much development was focused on Cloud and the rest suffered.

Cloud had all the stuff in the lifestream, the flashback, finding out his true past, etc.

Aeris had a small amount of background where we found out what she was and her past with Tseng and of course what happens at the end of disc one.

Tifa had her past stuff with Cloud.

Barret had his hometown, Corel.

Cid had Rocket Town, going into space and Shera.

Red XIII had the stuff with Cosmo Canyon and his father, Seto.

All Vincent had was a scene in Lucretia's cave.

Yuffie just had the Wutai sidequest.

And all we get with Cait Sith the fact that he's Reeve, a member of Shinra.

Linearity - There is honestly not a whole lot you can do with the storyline other than what if forces you to do.

That's all I can think of right now.

Ive never looked at this game this way before and how similar the story is to VI. VI is my favorite. Even though FFVII is one of my favorite games of all time, I hate how much more attention it gets than any other game in the series. Wheres the attention for FFVI which is obviously viewed by these points is the foundation and base off FFVII.

the graphics i really didnt like and especially marlene at the end she had a really big head lol, i also thought there was lots of talkin which really got on my nerves but the main thing was the graphics.
another thing which i didnt like was that certain places you couldnt revisit so if u didnt collect specific items etc. from those places which would become useful or be needed later on then then you are basically stuck from completing everything.

The characters. Cloud was an idiot. Tifa was freakish. Barrett was typical. Red XIII was also typical. The animals in games and film are always the smart bastards. That or overly aggressive.


The graphics. Whilst they were good for their time, as Viden said, the hands were freaking annoying.


The storylines... I just didn't like them, the entire game depressed me, the concept was shite, the villian was an idiot who was a typical loser-type mentally retarded shite-bag with a sword the size of a whale dick...

Cait Sith.

lowl, yea i never did like cait sith much. And the part with not being able to go back and get certain items was annoying, but its not only in FFVII, that is the case with many of the other games in the series. FFVII is my favorite, but VI comes in close second. I loved both games, 6 was very well done considering the limited technology they had to work with back then. The graphics were not very well defined, but this was PSX, so this is to be expected. Back then i thought they were amazing, but now they are sub par. The characters are a bit typical, but they work well. Another thing i would like to add..

Tifa's freakishly large breasts. Did anyone else find this odd? This is most apparent when she goes to pull cloud up at the end after his battle with Sephiroth. They are HUGE! it looks like they should be suffocating the life out of her.

But seriously, i loved the game, and it will always be my favorite.
