FFXII gets nasty Japanese backlash; Interesting article

FFXII has actually gotten a lot of backlash from Japanese consumers MAINLY due to them getting motion sick from the camera. There's some other minor things too, gameplay, music, etc. There's an article here that goes over it, and rather gives a very interesting take on how customers are over-reacting and why they shouldn't be. It's a really good read!

errr it's not true

monsters aren't hard to fight. the example on the t-rex: it's meant to be that way. and those t-rex don't attack you.. so why disturb the t-rex if you know that fella's lv's extremely (42.. when you're like lv 5.. what do you think? )

there are difficult mosnters in the game. obviously to make the game more challenging. e.g the mob quests. if the quests are too easy.. where's the fun?

about star wars: errrm i will have to agree on that xD lol even the interiors of the airships are similar o_O

gumbit n licence board isn't difficult to handle... think think think -_- at least ff12 makes your brain work a little.

And I actually got sick from playing the too-fast paced Sonic Adventure 2/Shadow The Hedgehog games. The camera just makes me go 'bleh'.

I actually am extremely interested after reading this. I get so tired of playing the games and holding down the X button to attack or choose the same commands over and over. I will confess that it sounds like the Macros from FF XI, but at the same time it seems intelligent, and more complex than Tactics Auto Battle set ups. I think it may be a bit too complex, but being able to change it during battle still allows you control, and the ability to turn it off whatsoever is pure freedom. Lastly, I'd really enjoy watching the battles rather than pushing buttons and working through them.

I'm interested, but there is a majority complaint so that does concern me.

I dunno, I'd like to hear more.

P.S. I loved the FF Tactics Music Score.

That was a very long article lol. The Gambit system sounds really awesome. Instead of having to keep choosing the same actions manually, you can set it up so that you don't have to do all that extra work. What an excellent idea. Some people don't like it because they would rather do it manually. I guess it would be kind of weird starting off the game like that because we are so used to doing it the hard way. It will probably be very confusing at first but I'm sure people would get used to it over time.

I am disappointed that Nobuo Uematsu did not compose the music, he is amazing and made beautiful music for the series. I hope the music isn't as bad as they say it is. I'm sure it'll be okay. Also, I hope I don't get motion sickness from playing this game! I have some games that have ridiculous camera angles and it tends to make me dizzy. I guess we'll have to wait and see what it's like.

aw he didn't??? That IS disapointing.

Anyways, that's crazy how these people got
dizzy from a game. I'm kinda worried because I
think I get dizzy easily.

Well, TECHNICALLY, he does compose the new theme song, Kiss me Goodbye, but yeah all the rest is Sakimoto, the FFT/Vagrant Story composer. I agree with what the article said. A lof of people expect Uematsu's grandoise variety of themes but all that's in is Sakimoto's simple, but good style.

I've never gotten motion sick from a game, but the colours on Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly on GC made me feel sick and strained my eyes within 5-10 mins of gameplay!

Anyhoo back on subject, i think FF12 looks really good. Haven't played it, but it looks great, and its good theres challenging opponants. T-Rex sounds similar to FF7's Midgar Zolom. No-one complains about him! Actually, after reading the article i feel more up to playing it!

I played half life on my PS2 once. I really wanted to experience the game, but 15 minutes in, I wanted to throw up. I got major motion sickness from that. I tried it at different times, night and day, tired and wide awake. Same result.

So yeah, I can relate.

The FFT music and Vagrant Story music rocked, so im sure the music will be decent..

Sonic Adventure 2, I really liked the fast camera.

Im sure the gambit system will be useful, might be hard to adjust to but its for the better.

and are there random battles?

I'd have to agree with the battle system complaints. Its too damn easy to play the game, from what I've seen from the demo. I literally fell asleep playing the demo... All I had to do was run around and the characters do everything themselves... you don't have to do shit. It definately reminds me of FFXI... but without the WeaponSkills, which sux. I hope there are something of the sort in the actual game. Constant regular attacks would get boring rather quick. Highlight-click-die. *snore* Can we say MNK from FFXI? {Yes, please}. You just mash attack and watch TV or something.

Of course, this was just the demo. I haven't played the actual game, but if its anything like that... I will get bored of it quick. The point of menu systems is they give you something to do. Didn't they get that picture from Namco's Xenosaga I and II? I mean shit... you already have an ASS of cut-scenes.. I don't want battles that play themselves out too. It sounds more like D&D Online... a singleplayer game wrapped up as a MMORPG.

I still look forward to this game, but not as much as I normally do for a FF game.
