I still definitely look forward to this even with all those complaints. Most of those things wouldn't even bother me.I'm sure the license board isn't that hard, I bet the gambits work fine, and I probably wouldn't mind not having to go through menus and shit for battles.

As for the music, though, I was a big fanm of the FFT soundtrack so I hope that on some level the music in FFXII is similar to that, then I would be quite happy.

really really interesting article

i'm really curious about whether or not i'll dig on FFXII. i don't know about programming the AI of my characters - sounds like i'll get the same headache RPG Maker II gave me when i was programming the scenarios.

i'm honestly with the japanese gamers - i like pushing buttons. i like menu systems. it's an RPG - the writer of the article nailed it when he said the gambit system exposes how tedious RPGs really are (and, imo, why the zelda series will always be superior to any traditional RPG) - but then again, it sounds like once you have the hang of it it really quickens the gameplay. then again, i'm also with the japanese gamers who say they don't like 'watching their game' - is Gambiting just a sort of B-Spec mode for a FF game?

they can stfu about the music - they don't know what they're talking about.

i just hope FFXII isn't TOO ****ING MUCH. i thought the sphere board in FFX was complicated for the sake of being complicated, and not worth it at all. it was a step sideways for magical advancement as far as i'm concerned - maybe steps in these directions are what has placed dragonquest at the top of japanese gamers RPGs (sans that famitsu article declaring FFX as the greatest video game of all time. wtf was that about?). DQ is a straight up RPG that doesn't pretend to be something it isn't - hopefully FFXII lives up to all the hype and chatter surrounding it.

[font=times new roman]The Gambit system is basically just scripts that dictate what the other members of your party do. You still control one of the characters in battle and the other two characters will do what you set their gambits up to do. Its on the same sort of level as Star Ocean 3 or the Kingdom Hearts games, you can still control one character but the other characters do what you tell them with the Gambits.

Except that in Kingdom Hearts you cannot control Donald or Goofy or anything period. In Star Ocean III and from what I have seen in FFXII you can control anyone you want. FFXII allows you to automatic your other party members, but you are still able to put in commands if you want something specific done. Or you can just do it like a normal FF game where everyone waits for your orders. Though you might end up dead a little easier that way.

There is the auto attack, so if you do not give them a new command, they will just keep doing weapon attacks. Even the character that you control until you decide to put in something new, though it will default back to weapon attacks after the command is finished. Basically they know a lot of the time you are just going to push attack, so they saved you the trouble of having to tell them to attack every turn. They made it so, that when you want to do something different, you put in the command and it happens.

Plus MP regens, ^^ makes me really happy, though out on the battlefield, it would have to regen or else you would be in trouble. Well they could leave it up to Ethers, but that it just annoying because usually Ethers are uncommon.

Aw, no!.
I get sick with Kingdom Hearts, sick-ish with Spiro and very sick with Katamari Damacii.

I'm not crazy about the battle system, but, hey! I'd rather have 'em improvising and changing things around on every FF title, than always doing the same stuff, over and over.

Firstly, I think the battle system is great, it takes for ever to level up on the older FF games, and this would make it a bit easier. Also I loved the sphere grid and the junction system. You can easily figure out tricks and oddly enough some of them I taught myself I haven't seen anywhere.

The music is somewhat disapointing as I love Nobuo's works, I have a few of the peices his works were based on and they're simply amazing. I haven't heard the other guys music but I hope its not that ugly techno jap pop sound. Melodic music suits this kind of game but I like that Epic sound, hopefully he keeps that into the game.

I don't know about the Camera, I like having control over it, but I don't mind an auto-camera. I just don't like those bits when something is blocking it or making like when you go in a far distance and you can't see your character.

I don't like the Star Wars kind of Character additions to it, I'd prefer LOTR but meh. It's not really a big deal but I like all those odd creatures so I think it is not that bad, I am just not a fan of futuristic games.

But from what I read of the review it seems like a great game, probably not going to be as great as VII got to but still worth going through.

Well...

Despite backlash, I am excited for this game! It is highly anticipated and it said to have a good story line. Although, that was an extremely interesting article, I must say.

This is off topic, but why doesn't the U.S. make a FF that we don't have to get after Japan? It seems everything is made there. Yes, that was off topic, but still, Americans aren't that incapable.

Some people can feel sick from a video games graphics or sudden movements. Mainly I think it can be attributed to long playtime. Although some of the games from the Nintendo 64 with heavy pixalation made me feel sick.

I would love to have FFXII but I'm not paying stupid amounts of money that I can't afford for an internet subscription.

If FFXII was just as good as a single player offline game then I would have.

But yeah, that article convinced me to have maybe got myself a copy.

Are you talking about FFXI? Because FFXI is the only game that is online, FFXII is a single player game that you pay $50 for once and you are done with it. FFXI has a monthly fee. It is easy enough to confuse the two since they are similar in ways.

And the Americans did make a FF, it was called Spirits Within and we all know how well received that was. Not saying that Spirits Within was bad.

Oh... I feel so out of the loop.

Thanks for that! I need to read up about FFXI and FFXII so I don't need to post questions here about each game.

I wouldn't say it was made by the Americans. Just cause the voice acting was in English is not to say by definition it was American. The story was created by the creater of FF. Although if you want to say a game the Americans made was FF mystic Quest.

I must say I agree, but Americans are not that incappable. I don't see why we don't create a Final Fantasy (that's not a movie ) so the U.S. could have one game before Japan. (The voiceovers would match better, too instead of being voiced over a character whose lips move to the Japanese language. )
