RP related issue

I found no correct forum to post this in, so apologies if I overlooked.

I was looking over the rules and definition of godmodding...I noticed that healing magic was considered as modding. Now, considering the implications, I would agree, but if one takes into account potential casting time and recovery effect period...healing would mean leaving yourself open to enemy attack.

Much like the use of guns, healing, if used inappropriately, would be modding, but has the administration considered a loosening of the healing rules, much like what has been done with the guns?

We wouldn't know. We're not in charge of that forum. You'll have to ask Yuna, the RP moderator. But.. I don't think I've seen her at TFF lately...

But.. what you're saying DOES make sense.. but.. eh..

The Curing rule falls under RPBing, since the rules about Godmodding are a little more strict in their enforcement. Curing in a RP is not against the rules, which means this does not fall under Yuna, but the mod of RPB, which there is none. There used to be, but since there is no mod for RPB Forum. It leaves it us to decide about it.

From what I take from RPBing, curing is godmodding for a reason, it heals your character giving an unfair advantage. I would imagine if handle properly there would not be a problem with bending that, depending on the manner it is handled. It could not be a complete heal of the body and since it takes time, you are left open to attacks.

Yes, furthermore, the casting of a heal spell is never - in cases of no modding - instant, and the healing spell would take time to cast, and the casting itself would leave the caster open to attacks...strategically, it would not be used often lest the caster be easily overcome...

I beleive you've answered my curiosity, thank you!

Haha, yeah, I believe this thread was in reference to RPB, not RP. In that case, I'm the guy in charge.

In its purest sense, curing in an RPB isn't allowed simply because it takes all the fun out. Let's say you heal yourself a couple times, and the battle goes on for another billion posts. What's the point? The root of RPB is violence. Violence begets injuries. Injuries beget weaknesses. Weaknesses beget excellent writing. It's far more interesting to read about how someone with a massive gash in his arm utilizes his other arm to continue than how someone whips out a potion/spell and magically becomes whole again.

This is also why it's godmodding to force an attack on someone, so that the writers have a choice in whether or not they'd like to lose a limb.

I simply brought up that point because not everyone will play an offensive character, some characters are built to be interesting and play a highly tacticaly game, doing little, smalle annoying damage before dealing a gruesome blow at the end....

Besides, as I have mentioned, I was not talking about items...I disagree with using items regardless.

I meant the casting of a non-instantanous helaing spell.

i.e. a Paladin.

Trust me, I certainly understand what you're trying to say, and I agree to an extent. Tell you what, I'll make you a deal. I'll alter the rules to allow curative magic (though it will still be banned from tournament play), so long as said magic is NOT instantaneous. Items will still be restricted.

I think that's a fair compromise.

edit:
Here's the revised subsection regarding cures.

Oh, not a problem. How can I expect the RPB forum to grow if I don't take the suggestions of its posters into consideration? It's the least I could do. Anywho, I believe this thread has seen the end of its usefulness. Unless there's anything else you would like to add, I'll be closing this momentarily.

OMGS read the rules they say:
No healing and no summons unless agreed otherwise BEFORE the RPB

(even if they are limit breaks)
