Did Anyone Really Like the Card Games in FFVIII & FFIX?

I really miss the card games in these two FF's. I remember there being a freeware version of just the card game called "Quistis" or something close to her name anyway, but I never got hold of it and now can't find it. Someone had developed it into a game for the PC with different levels and HP, EXP etc...

Anyone know where I could find it?

Well there's an online version of Triple Triad (the card game from VIII) at http://www.ttadvance.com

Anyway, yeh, I liked both of the card games. Though, I much prefer Triple Triad...Tetra Master at times just seemed totally random losing/winning cards when you really shouldn't have...or at least by the way they explained it.

Me and my friend always wanted Triple Triad as a real card game, in fact I remember seeing real cards but they were japanese. But yeah I played both, TM was rather stupid at times though.

I never did much with Triple Triad, as I've never gotten too far in VIII, but I kinda enjoyed Tetra Master. It did seem random, yes, but it was still interesting.

Yes, i enjoyed them. Nice little mini games to perfect as you go through the game, and a nice break from bettling. I also like how in VIII you can exchange excess cards for useful items. And thanks for the Triple Triad link!

I didn't like either at first, but as I understood how to 'trade' and eliminate rules from an area, I got to where I liked Triple Triad a whole lot more. Tetra Master still seems a waste of time to me though...at least the cards in FF8 could be modified into valuable item thus there was an extra reward fr participating, but all you get for the card sidequest in FF9 is the collectors rating.

Having said which, both are far superior as game spanning mini-games when compared to the bad sports simulation of blitzball.

I liked the one in FF VIII, it was fun and rewarding.

I hated the one in FF IX, it was completely random and there was no reward whatsoever.

Totally friggin lame.

Yeah, blitzball was just a waste of good playing time. Glad it wasn't essential. Thanks for the TTadvance link, just what i was looking for. Cheers

I actually quite liked Blitzball, it was a hell of alot more enjoyable than Tetra Master or whatever the hell they called it. That sucked! There was no reward, and even if you had the best cards in the game you'd still end up losing to some rat-kid with a hand full of terrible cards! WHY!

However, Triple Triad was fantastic! It had numerous rewards, was challenging to play, not random (unless of course the random rule was in effect), not actually necessary for the plot of the game and (most importantly) it was fun!

So for, Tetra Master was a complete waste of sapce, but Triple Triad certainly wasn't and (off-topic slightly) neither was Blitzball.

I liked both the card games and Blitzball, I even spent the time to get the Jecht Shot II and believe me that took absolute ages... And I used to have the unbeatables as I called them on Triple Triad, which were the Brothers, Diablos and Squall. I never lost with them.

I loved cards, Triple Triad was my favourite. But I liked Tetra Master as well.

Triple Triad was cooler because you could obtain more rare cards... I had most of them way back when.

In fact, I was only missing Irvine and Kiros from the last page of cards, I think.

I quite enjoyed the card game in Final Fantasy VIII. I always used to use my character and guardian force cards so that I had a better chance of winning. I would normally save nearby before I played a game because if I lost one of my good cards...I could reset the game and try again lol. I had a bit of trouble with some of the different rules, I just liked the normal ones. They're the easiest. I thought Edea and Cid were hard to beat at playing cards, I don't how many times I tried to get Seifer's card off of Cid. I eventually gave up because I just couldn't get it. It would have been pretty awesome if they had a card game in Final Fantasy X, I would have really enjoyed that.

Yeah the card games were good, they increased the longevity of the game. I got more into Tetra Master than Triple Triad, but I didn't really Play FFVIII too much compared to the others.

the reason i originally bought FFIX was the card game. PSOIII was about a month off and i COULDN'T wait any longer for it. my buddy had told me that IX had a fun creatures card game - and i was not let down. i dueled every opportunity i had, and had a pretty bitchin deck too.

never played VIII's, but heard it was really good too..
