Which is the Best Star Trek T.V. Show?

Well? I know that there are some other Star Trek fans out there. For one, I know Andromeda is a ST fan. Here is the big question...out of all FIVE Star Trek television programs (excluding that horrible Star Trek: The Animated Series) is the best?

Well...in my opinion...Star Trek: The Next Generation is the best out of the lot. TNG has my favorite batch of characters: Captain Jean-Luc Picard, the child-hating Captain with a deep English accent; First Officer William T. Riker, the trombone playing, ladies man; Lieutenant Commander Data, the android with a dream to be human, a robotic Pinocchio; Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge, the blind engineer; Lieutenant Worf, the Klingon warrior; Doctor Beverly Crusher, the brilliant doctor; Counselor Deanna Troi, the empathetic Betazoid counselor; Ensign Wesley Crusher, the boy; and Lieutenant Natasha Yar, the tough security officer who comes to a tragic end in Season One. La Forge and Beverly Crusher were my favorites...La Forge was just a funny dude...who was blind...and Beverly Crusher...was...pretty.

Plus, add on my favorite villian(s) in any Star Trek, or any television show for that matter...the Borg. The Borg, introduced in Season Two (I believe) are the best! With no mind of their own, the Borg were just killing machines. They were nigh unbeatable. I mean...my favorite Star Trek episode to date is the Best of Both Worlds (Parts One and Two)...that, my friends, is quality television. It paved way to quality films to, like ST: First Contact, one of my favorite films.

Also, it was brought back the sci-fi genre to television, in my mind. TNG's special effects were spectacular for its day...We wouldn't have shows like Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, the new Battlestar Galactica, or even the later Star Treks...well...those are my thoughts...

I'll post my thoughts on the other ST's in a bit...

Au Revoir!

Man..you don't even know how hard it was to pick between TOS and TNG for me. I grew up watching TOS it's ingrained in my head so much, that I can name the episode I'm watching before the first commercial break. Don't get me wrong I LOVE TNG. But for some reason seeing classic Trek brings back many fond childhood memories ^^

I've seen at least 1 episode for all the differant Star Treks out there. TNG is with no question the best one. I thought TOS was just boring and all the episodes were similar. Plus TNG has more personality, more people who are differant which makes for good story and episodes. Overall it's on all the time and I'm glad because it's my favoriteone out there.

Star Trek The Next Generation. It had the best of every world in it. Better special effects, so things looked better for a Sci Fi show and not something from an Atari.

Better cast, there was at least 20 stars on TNG indifference to 5 or 7 on TOS that were memorable people. That made stories more interesting and spread out.

Pssh...the answer is proven by many things, here are a few examples of why it was great:

* The Borg...need I say more?

* Data

* Ryker & Deanna Troi

* Locutus of Borg

* Guinan

* The last episode...Warp 13...get the fu*k outta here!!!

I love the old school, William Shatner is the greatest. Now he is a bit of a lump, but he made the original series great. Espeacially by making it with all the girl aliens. Besides that though. The one thing that the newer series lack is the details. The original was great for it's details with the ship an the later movies, that OMG I love. But to me, even though the other series keep the love for it going, the original old school version set the stage

Well I picked The Animated Series, I'm still waiting for it on DVD. I grew up on the original, and can still remember watching first-run episodes when i was a kid (no old jokes )

When the animated series came out i was ecstatic, because all the voices were there and the episodes tied in with the ST timeline, plus a lot of the episodes were written by well-known SF writers of the time(I love SF and Specuative Fiction, my favorite writer is Harlan Ellison), and even Walter Koenig (Chekhov) wrote an episode!

there was so much more you could do at the time in an animoated series, i know you can prolly do the same thing with CGI nowadays but for the time i thought it was awesome.

I like the opening credits to Enterprise the best but The next gen is my favourite. Voyagers good too.
To be honest I watch Star Trek for a laugh over anything else but I still have a soft spot for it.

Enterprise was the one i watched most so therefore my favourite of the bunch, plus Jean Luc Picard was just fantastic, and I liked him more than any other captain. But overall not a firm favourite of mine =/

I'm gonna go with the Original Series. I don't think any Vulcans have even come close to Spock, which is part of my reasoning. Nimoy and Shatner were excellent, which says something because Shatner and excellent usually don't belong in the same sentence. It had a certain charm about it, as well.

When it was still on, I used to watch Enterprise. Not bad, with fairly believable characters. I think it really went downhill after the second season, though. I'm surprised it made it to 4.

I think Voyager, ive never liked the originals, i think its really what you watch first because i think the first ever episode i watched was Voyager. i also like the new enterprise as its like a totally new section of start trek, the begginings. I havnt watched it for a while, i watched until some space station somewhere got destroyed. :-D

I've got to go with the next generation for a couple of reasons-
Brent Spiner was brilliant as data.
The reading rainbow guy (Levar Burton)
Captain P-card. was the best captain ever.
The borg
Worf
and the episode "The Best of Both Worlds"

NERDIEST THREAD EVER!!!!!

I myself like The Next Generation and despise all the others.

Although I like the first three movies, I hated all the others.

I get the irony

Deep Space Nine.

I enjoyed the characters the most from DS9. The story also interested me the most, what with the gamma quadrant, the Cardassians and the Dominion and such. Dax is also one good looking symbiot.

Personally, I'd have to go with The Next Generation. I love the classic show, but Patrick Stewart was such a better actor than Shatner. What made the classic show great for me was that Kirk was a quintessesntial badass. However, the dramatic pauses often killed pivotal moments. Plus, it had the same story over and over. Kirk goes to planet. Kirk falls for hot alien chick. RED ALERT! A few red shirts kick the bucket, and voila. The Next Generation actually had substance. The other shows were OK, but none can compare with the first 2.
