The King of Fighters 2006- FF Edition- Rules, Info, and Current standings

In a flash of inspiration from one of my favorite fighting games and another poster from another message board. I've decided to hold a very unique Elimination/Voting Word game.

Here's how it works. You guys come up with a team of three Final Fantasy characters. At least ONE character of your team has to be from a different game from the other two. There will also be NO repeats. Once someone chooses Cloud, no one else can, think of someone else.

Give your team a KoF-ish name. Don't worry you don't need to play KoF to get it. The 3man teams of KoF are all bound together by a certain theme (Women Fighters Team, Secret Agent team, Hero Team, etc). A couple examples would be the "New Heroes Team" and consist of Cloud, Squall, and Tidus. Of course you could also be a little sillier and make the "Old Man Team" with Strago, Tellah, and Galuf.

Now why is this in General FF instead of Word Games? Well this isn't going be just the simple "2-3 worded replies on Infinite pages" There will be more of a twist.

Now in KoF (at least until recently) teams of three would fight one at a time and try to take out the opposing team's opponents. It's really hard to explain so let me go to the example. The first match would be Cloud vs Strago. If Cloud won the fight, he'd fight Tellah next and if he won THAT fight he'd fight Galuf, however if Tellah were to beat Cloud, the fight would continue with Squall. Get it?

It would work as an elimination game with each team having 30 points (10 points per character). Instead of doing the whole "Add one, take away one" bit. You simply take away a point for who you think will lose. Of course if the winning character lost points they'll still remain, making the next character able to defeat them. This is how KoF works (you gain a little health after you beat an opponent, but it still gradually wears out the character)

Ah but here's the twist. Instead of you guys simply typing "Cloud RULEZ! Strago -1" You'll have to type at least 2 complete sentences as to why they chose the character. And to give an idea as to what Cloud would do to subdue Strago (or vice versa).

And to make it more interesting LocoColt and I will judge the topic's posts. Extra creative teams will earn you extra points making them harder to defeat. Extra points will also be rewarded for the actual elimination battles. Put a lot of effort into your post than is required, and your post will count as two points instead of just one toward the character of your choice. Now this isn't all about making fancy RPB posts. Have fun! What would Cloud say if he met Strago? Winposes? Intros? Be creative!

Remember, for those who don't take this topic seriously (IE Spam, not follow the rules) your post will be deleted and not count

As fun as this sounds Cain I find that it will probably not garner as much active as you probably would like. Mainly because people are lazy and like to write as little as humanly possible and still have it mean or count for something. So I doubt that this will go over very well.

But prove me wrong, I'd rather be proven wrong than right. I am just stating the trends of how people are.

I wish you luck with this undertaking of yours.

I'd be game. I already have a particular team in mind, too, and the best part is they're all from different games. However, we're not in that phase yet, of creating teams, correct?

But anyway, so we pick our teams, you pit two member's teams against each other, and then everyone else decides who will win against who? Or does the person who created the team do a bit more than that, like post a beginning and ending roll-play-type post, or something? I'm not familiar with KoF rules, so... yeah.

It may not take off the way it would be intended, but it sounds like fun.

Well like I said this isn't going to be a direct RPB or just a simple word game either. It's going to be the best of both worlds, and I hope it attracts all kinds of members on the forum.

I'd like to think of this as a new "Intellectual FF topic" which went over fairly well, we DO have the memebers.

Memebers will be able to offer their vote as well. Like an elimination game you simply take away a point from the character that's going to lose. Every 4 points would mean a KO for the character fighting (12 points for the whole team). Choosing your lineup would be important. Do you want to have a strong guy go first, or leave him last?

Of course any post has to be at least two complete sentences as to why you think the character would win (this promotes use of one's knowledge of the FF series) Go an extra mile with more detail and this ensures your favored team wins by doing extra "damage" against your "opponent". As far the RP-ish beginning and ending post. That's optional and ANYONE can do it and will earn bonus points in the same way.

Like I said this is going to be all about fun and creativity, to show one's knowledge of the series, but it doesn't have to be the cumbersome typing of an RPB match (but likewise, young newbies can't come in and go "CLOUD RULES! LOLz").

I forgot to say, this IS the signup topic. Remember, No Repeats. Also extra creative teams get extra points for a match.

If only I wasn't judging the thing, I'd be putting in a team myself. I've got some good things in mind. Like Cain said in the first post, BE CREATIVE with the teams as well as the actual written portions. The more thought you put into this, the better. Also know that we do reserve the right to reject any team, so don't do something stupid like "Cloud, Sephiroth, Kefka" where you're overloaded with overpowerful characters. Mix it up. Use multiple games, and be diverse -- but at the same time, remember you have to find a theme for your team, and a title that matches the theme.

Ah I forgot about that rule. I was also going to say NPC characters can be allowed within reason. This could include (but not limited to) Seifer's Posse from FFVIII (not usable together obviously), Biggs and Wedge, members of Tantalus (FFIX), various Nonplayable FFT characters like Olan or Delita. Also to show this is about fun, if you want to add FFI characters inspired by 8Bit theater (remember they'll have to include someone else), you can (or, for the oldschool fans, if you just want to have a good ol' Black Belt on your team). The two Anime's are also up for grabs. Anything and everything related to the Final Fantasy name. If this goes well, we might extend it to Square Enix, Gaming, Anime, and even a free for all.

The characters are all, obviously, beasts. The team was set up by the leader, Red XIII. Kimahri and Umaro joined soon afterwards. The team is part of the BFC, the Beast Freedom Company, which fights for beast cruelty to end.

They fight for FREEDOM!
