Is it really that hard?

(Not sure whether this belongs in here or in General Chat... it's sort of a half-rant/half want to hear what people think... if anybody feels this is out of place, go ahead and move it.)

So I had an interesting, although not unprecedented experience yesterday. I was in a building on campus when I had to go to the bathroom. I walked in, sat down, and began taking a dump. While I was sitting there, I heard the sound of somebody else coming into the room. I heard him go into the stall next to me. I heard him shut the door and heard some rustling as he did his business. Then I heard him get up, pull up his pants and leave.

The sound I did not hear during this process was a flush. Now, I didn't actually look in there, so I can't verify that he didn't flush. But if he did, he must have mad ninja flushing skills, because I seriously didn't hear a thing.

What goes through people's heads when they do stuff like this? How difficult is it to clean up after yourself? It's just one little lever! You don't even have to touch it with your hands - it's low enough that you can flush with your foot if you're that worried about germs (which I seriously doubt was the case, seeing as how another sound I didn't hear was the sound of this guy washing his hands). But think about it - the whole point of a toilet is to give you a place to do your business other than the floor; a self-cleaning chamber pot if you will. What's the point of using a toilet if you're not going to flush it?

Is there anybody here who's had this experience? (Actually, I'd be willing to bet that almost everybody here has seen this at some point.) Why do people not flush after themselves? If I went to their house, would there be crap sitting in all of their toilets? Or is it that the only place they don't flush is public bathrooms? If that's the case, why not? Do they think that it's the job of the custodial staff to clean up after them? Do they just hate other people and want to make others deal with their crap (literally!)? What's going through their heads?

I have no idea what is going through people's minds when they leave a crap load of crap in a public bathroom, but don't flush the toilet. I see this a lot, however, and it disgusts me. I don't want to sit over your shit when I'm dropping a deuce. I don't want that to splash up on my ass. The least you could do is give me a courtesy flush, especially if you're taking a dump.

I also love it when people pee in a toilet, but don't bother to lift the seat or anything, so there's piss all over the toilet seat. What the fuck, man? That's absolutely disgusting! The only time I'd understand that is if the bastard's drunk, but I still won't like it. I experience this a lot in public bathrooms.

My theory is that these people just don't care. It's probably not a big deal to them. They might take better care of their own bathrooms, but when you get people who don't wash their hands after doing their business, I might find even that highly unlikely.

That really pisses me off... its why i refuse to use public bathrooms unless im about to piss myself. Same with school ones. I cant believe that people actually do that. I know some toilets need to recharge after flushing, but i wont leave until i can flush away my offerings... it just makes you think, doesnt it, about how these peoples houses must be. I mean, even cats have the dignity to select a toilet and make an effort to cover it up (for my cats it takes at least a minute for them to be satisfied about how well it is hidden), whether it be in a litterbox or in soil. Why arent the majority people as clean cats?

A prime example of this is the maths block toilets in my school, where they have now been closed because of the kiddies shitting them up (and they are all 12+ years old), so im glad im in sixthform as our own block has its own toilets which are a lot cleaner (though there is still the non-flush incident occasionly). And surprisingly the New Forest District Council has claimed our town toilets as some of the cleanest around the local area, so I dread to see those of the other towns!

Gawd, I almost thought your story was going sort of the same direction mine went. This building I go to has men's/women's toilets next to eachother in the same room, so I'm minding my own business in my stall when some guy walks in and starts ****ing jacking off.

But still, I'd rather have a slightly degenerate toilet than a man having sex with himself two feet away. I prefer to pee in peace thankyouplease. I don't even want to know the mess he made...*twitch*
