...actually, it's an unofficial story put out there to explain the grrl in one of the earliest posters put out there and what happened to the g/f that 2D mentioned in Dazed. Actually, the main story came from Dr. Wurzel, a fan who is actually also an official character... (He was seen on Celebrity Takedown!)
The idea that there would be cartoons that would represent the band is what they aimed for. I am a big fan of Damon Albarn myself as well as:
Cass Browne-Drums
Haruka Kuroda-Backing Vocals ("Noodle's vocals")
Simon Katz-Guitars (What Noodle "plays")
Morgan Nicholls-Bass
Del tha Funky Homosapien-He's real!

....and their collaborators. If you want to go on image, they are very much one of the dissenting voices against what everybody else is doing. Mostly they're just plain wierd...

Uhh.... the bassist is Satanic... there's no such thing as Sitanic... and no, not really. The lead singer character 2D is a Buddist, in fact but I'm not sure about the drummer Russel or the guitarist Noodle. Mostly, it's just Jamie being obsessed with that imagery.

There are a LOT of terrific songs on the albums that have never been made into music videos.... Latin Samone, 5/4, Re-hash, Left Hand Suzuki Method, New Genious (Brother) , Man Research (Clapper), Punk, Soundcheck (Gravity), Every Planet We Reach is Dead, Fire Coming out of the Monkey's Head and Demon Days all come to mind off the two main albums...

....and that's not including a LOT of really excellent B-sides and the G-Sides and remixes that have been done for them. I would highly suggest visiting 2-J's site. www.gorillaz-unofficial.com G-Sides is the short B-Side album they put out shortly after their first album. Most fans say that all three are well worth it.

...then again, I'm obsessive....

Well i think that Gorillas are ok but nothing special.

All there songs are really similar and are not all that attractive for me. They basically make slight modifications to there songs and then just play it with a similar beat and other things.

There are way better bands out there. Gorillas are nothing to compared to the others.

It takes some getting used to. Gorillaz was meant to be a kind of gag side project originally and I can still tell.

What Damon has been doing lately is very messed up... "hip-hop retirement" my arse. Why doesn't he just say he's taking a break?!

I like the Gorillaz but I don't listen to them that often. I should buy one of their albums. They have really catchy music and I just love hearing them. They have a different sound to all those other bands out there and I think they're great. My friend is obsessed with them and I can see why. They have such wicked cool songs. I don't think their songs sound the same at all! Even if they do, I think their style is cool. Their video clips are awesome and even humorous at times. I haven't really heard much from them but I would like to sometime.
