Mastodon

A band which I only just recently got into and definitely one which I can't believe slipped past my radar with all the attention they got when Leviathan was released. They are also about the only one of all these new American popular metal bands I can really get into. The rest of the pack sound like they are 1/3 At The Gates, 1/3 Hatebreed, and 1/3 Good Charlotte...

Anyone else who's into them?

Leviathan is a good release, but Remission and Call of The Mastodon ( a collection of demos) are so much ****ing better.

Mastodon, a ****ing good band. Amazing riffs and a pretty good vocalist also.

Yeah, I'm into them, although I prefer the likes of Opeth and Nile, etc. Mastodon are a good listen, I notice they make a very good aid if one is trying deliberately to become angry. Haha.

I disagree!

I saw them at Ozzfest this past July and I wanted a bullet to the brain. They're definitley not my cup of tea. I can't stand their type of metal. Me and my friend Joe had a damn good laugh at how bad we thought they sucked. Then again, we pretty much went for Maiden, Sabbath and In Flames, but wanted our money's worth.

Saw them live at the MEN arena in 2004, opening for Slayer and Slipknot.

Why the hell they only got a five song set, and Hatebreed (blarghh!) got what felt like a lifetime, escapes me.

Hatebreed, the good- They sounded a hell of a lot better live than they do on CD.

Hatebreed the bad- Wiggers!

Mastodon kicked ass. They even closed with Blood And Thunder.
Unfortunately, I dont think the crowd was that interested. But they did get a good cheer though. (and at the end of the gig when Corey did a shoutout, Mastodon got the third loudest cheer) (second = Slayer, First = Napalm Death)

I have now realised this post is hugely irrelevent thus far.

Leviathan is a cracking album, the little I have heard of Remission is good.
I haven't heard good things about "Call Of" but I'm still looking for it.

I've yet to listen to Remission, but it is definitely on my "to get" list. Call Of The Mastodon, Lifesblood can wait a bit. There's way too much stuff which I need to get already to bother with stuff like that.

It's nice to see a band like Mastodon get succesful. Especially as they stand out from the crowd of bad metalcore bands. I am very much looking forward to their new album as well.

Mastodon are quite jolly.

In fact, I am going to see 'em on June 9th. The Unholy Alliance Tour.

Mastodon, Slayer, Lamb of God, Children of Bodom. Should be a good show, yes? Yes.

If that's the show at the Eagles Ballroom, I might actually go to that. I ****ing missed Opeth when they were there last. Hopefully I can get the cash to go and see them. Seeing Children Of Bodom would be cool, too.

But on topic, Mastodon is good, at least, the material that I've heard. Blood and Thunder = ****ing sweet.

I'd love to be able to go see Slayer and Mastodon at the Unholy Alliance tour. I've seen Slayer live thrice, and they have still yet to disappoint me.

I'm going to the Milwaukee show on July 7th.

Mastadon is pretty good. Not good enough that I would go buy a cd, but descent to hear. I saw them November 2004 with Slayer and The Heavils.

The Heavils. Now that's a band. Just look at the singer's guitar:

Yeah. It's a toilet seat.

Funny that you say that... I saw Opeth, Devil Driver and Dark Tranquility not 2 weeks ago. It was a pretty good show!

Sorry, I made a mistake on the date of my show.. July 9th, not June.. 2 days after your show, AOD!
