The Legend of Zelda

I've only played Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask for the 64. It's been at least seven years since I've started on Majora's Mask, and longer yet for Ocarina of Time. lol! And I think I still have my cool skillz, too!

Anyone have any oppinions, rants, comments, praises or anything for the Zelda series?

It's a pretty cool series... perhaps one of the best. Link is bad ass, or something. It's a series that hasn't really gone downhill; every game in the series has been awesome, or at least what I've played. (I haven't played Majora's Mask, Minich Cup or whatever that one's called, the 4 Swords one, or the Oracle of Ages/Seasons.)

I know that a lot of people didn't like Wind Waker, for whatever reason. I played it at the end of this last Summer, and I thought it was awesome. I loved the fighting in that game, even if it was simple, to some extent. Also, Ganondorf is a very bad man in this game (Just wait 'till you get to the ending if you haven't played this one yet).

I never actually finished Ocarina of Time. I have a file that I play every once in a while, that's at the beginning of Ganon's Tower. For the longest time, it was at the Shadow Temple, too, but the period that it's been at Ganon's Tower has been longer... My friends are also borrowing my N64 right now, so I can't exactly finish it any time soon. I still love this game, though. My favorite part in the whole game was probably exploring Hyrule, back when I didn't know what the hell to do for a little while. Actually, that's my favorite part of every Zelda game; exploring.
Spoiler:
I wish that you could've done more exploring in old Hyrule in Wind Waker, at the end...

Anyway, Link to the Past was my favorite game for a long time as a kid. It's one of those games that I've overplayed, however. I just played Link's Awakening again this Summer. That's a fun game to explore, especially with the bug that lets you move to the other side of the next room; you never know what room you'll end up in next. Although usually you'll just end up stuck.

My first game in the series was Adventure of Link; I didn't play the original until last Spring. I still haven't played through the second quest in that one, however...

The only Zelda game I've really played is Link to the Past. I have one for GBA -- Minish Cap? -- but never got too into it. And I also have an original Zelda on a GBA cartridge, but didn't get into that much either. Ah well.

But yes, Link to the Past is classic. I love that game. But it got to the point where I could do it in my sleep.

Zelda has had a great run of games, I've played alot of them. We had our NES upstairs in my parents room, that was where I played the first 2 Zelda's. Well I think one was called Zelda and the other Link. I never beat them since I was like 3 or 4 but I watched my parents beat them since I was horrible at games then. The first Zelda I beat was Link To The Past for SNES. It was a great game that took me a while to beat, hehe the dark world was one awesome place. The next Zelda was my favorite The Ocarana of Time. It in my opinion is the best Zelda ever, I've beaten it several times, and thought it was such an expansive game, I think it's awesome. When Majora's Mask came out I bought and beat it, it may not have been my favorite, but it was a very solid sequal and still liked it very much. I never played any of the ther Zelda's after that, I've only repayed them since, but regardless Zelda is an awesome franchise of games.

As much as I love this series, I cannot help but express my opinion to the fact that this is the most overrated video game franchise next to Mario.
The games are fun, but the fanbase is like HUGE. Too huge to be real.

This is an awesome series.
I haven't played the first 2 titles. The first one I actually played was A Link to the Past. After I got an N64 I got the Orcarina of Time. This is easily the best one so far. Majora's mask wasn't as good as Orcarine of Time, but it was still a really good game.
I beat the Oracle of seasons and Ages, but haven't really played them since.
Then we have the Wind Waker.
I see no reason to think this is a bad game. The graphics are "kiddy" to some people. Just because the graphics look "kiddy" doesn't mean that it isn't a solid title with plenty of puzzles and Link Adventuring to go around.
Overall this series is badass as Link.

The main reason I bought my Gamecube was because it came with the Legend of Zelda Collector's Disc. (Legend of Zelda, Link's Adventure, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask.)

For my birthday I got Minish Cap and beat it in two weeks. (I go to college and have a full time job. That's why it took so long.)

I currently have all the Zelda games. (except for the Phillips CDi trilogy)

I love Zelda, me and my brother-in-law play it every chance we get, (original NES version), though I have not a chance to play the latest ones. HOWEVER, the new-gen Zelda game is going to be AWESOME! Remember the last time they delayed a game? That was Zelda on 64 and it turned out beautifully. It definitely shows they are putting a lot into this new game.

Zelda 64 is, simply put, the greatest video game of all time. period. i'm sorry - but if we're talking about video games there's no question that the zelda series complete blows away any FF or any other traditional RPG. yeah yeah, those are great games too - but Zelda has always had actual GAMEPLAY, as in you can't run to the bathroom in the middle of a boss fight or 'think hard' about your next move. as far as rpgs go sure - FF destroys zelda with its massive plot lines, mind-bending twists, and heart-wrenching tragedy. FF stories are (for the most part) more creative and deeper than those of Zelda games - but as a GAME there's no denying that zelda kicks FF's ass.

it is nintendo after all... and miyamoto... and koji kondo... i'd even go as far as saying that i'm a zelda guy before i'm a final fantasy guy. ocarina of time is a masterpiece to behold even to this day. in fact, i played through the ending about a month ago on my old N64 cart, and when the camera panned down on the mastersword, the church bells rang out, koji kondo's thrilling finale blared out of my TV's speakers, and the words "Presented by NINTENDO" appeared over the image- i wept. tears were literally streaking down my face.

i had trouble getting as emotionally attached to majora's mask, though it's still an incredible game. i found the moving around in time to be extremely frustrating at first - but the further you move along in the game the more brilliant you realize it is. and the towns people had such complicated lives that you could meddle in! one of the best parts of that game - and reprised again in wind waker.

i started with Zelda II when i was in elementary school. a lot of people look at Zelda II like it's the black sheep of the bunch, but since it was the first i played i never felt that way. i thought the side scrolling dungeons were just as brilliantly layed out as the top down counterparts in the other games. and that overworld! Zelda II, along with its predicessor, are the stuff of ledgend. there's nothing to say about zelda I that hasn't been said a million times. it's a classic among classics, standing alongside mario 1 as one of the miyamoto classics that defined gaming for generations to come.

the next installment looks absolutely mind blowing - finally the 'realistic' next gen zelda 64 follow up we've been waiting for since we first began dreaming about the nintendo 'dolphin' and what zelda would look like on it. i don't even want to think about zelda on the revolution - though i think it's eluded to in the last clip at the end of the revolution's controller teaser trailer. O_O
