The Silent Hill series.

Okay, so I know theres an old thread somewhere to do with how Silent Hill is turning into an FF and RE series with the amount of games in this particular series, but I want to know what you think of the games...

Here's a series of questions for people replying to this thread, if thats cool.

Which Silent Hill games have you played?

Which ones have you completed?

Which was your favourite and why?

Which part scared you/scared you most, if any?

Which parts of the games did you like most or dislike?

Was there a part in any Silent Hill which made you sad?

Which Silent Hill games have you played? - I've played Silent Hill 1 and 4, and I love them both.

Which ones have you completed? Both. SH1 was easier to figure out then SH4, because there can be some confusion in certain worlds.

Which was your favourite? I can't choose, I loved them both. SH4 had different places to explore, but I think SHI gave you a lot more freedom to do what you want.

Which part scared you most? Well, the first time I played Silent Hill 4, I was quite tired and I was a bit drowsy, so it was a little freaky when I saw the beginning sequence to SH4. I got quite scared at all different parts of SH4 -- and that was because of the strange noises in the game.

Which parts did you dislike? Well, I didn't dislike any parts of the games, really. It was really entertaining and creepy -- although the first time I played SH4, I immensly disliked the Water Prison because it was very creepy.

A part of SH games that made me sad... Hmm, well, I was quite young when I first played SH1, and it made me really sad when...

Spoiler:
Lisa the nurse died, and there was really sad music as well.

And also a part that made me sad would be when...

Spoiler:
Eileen was attacked and she was scared in the hospital. The voice actor really did a good job of making her seem frightened.

Yeah, that's it from me.

Gimme your input!

Well ok here it is, lemme think
I have played 1,2 and four ( though the second I just loand from someone and had to give it back to soon
So I didnt complete the second but the first I totally PWND, also currently PWNING SH 4 the room

next question..
Yes indeed my fav, well SH4 because it much more spooky than the first and second, those bastards coming out of the walls and knocking me over MAAN my life-bar was so tiny i just ran while waiting for the final blow that would kill me for sure

I like the spooky parts but the things I dont like is, walking around with absolutely NO ammo and confusing parts like running in and out of subway cars getting confused as ****

well that cynthia actually scared m a bit but, i guess that is because i am used to play resident evil apart from that the sounds are a bit creepy and those bastards coming out of the walls almost scared me shitless because i JUST CAN'T KILL THEM!!!!

1) I have played ALL
2) I have completed 1 2 and 3
3) Hmmm, the first. I think it built up a lot more suspense
4) I was scared at the very beginning when all those little demon children with knives killed me :-) (It was my first horror game!)
5) I hated it in number 2 when you were in the apartments. It was long and tedious
6) I have to agree with you, Why did it happen though? "It" just started bleeding.

I'm on my second time of owning SH4, and I got confused with the subway cars as well. Also, you can whack things to death with the sewer pipe you find before entering the hole the first time...

That's three times now. xD

That -was- pretty scary. I was pretty young when I completed it - I remember hiding under my covers that night when I went to bed.

When I was younger, this shit was actually pretty frightening.

Which Silent Hill games have you played? I've played 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Which ones have you completed? All of them

Which was your favourite and why? 2 was my favourite. It had a very good storyline and relied more on a really scary atmosphere than 3 and 4 which were a bit more action orientated which took a bit of the "scariness" out of it in my opinion.

Which part scared you/scared you most, if any? I remember searching through the building early in SH 2 where one of those monsters which look like 2 pairs of legs stitched together rises from a sofa all of a sudden. That was pretty scary. Also pretty much everything in the psychiatric hospital and the prison (both SH 2)

Which parts of the games did you like most or dislike? I disliked the level of action in 3 and 4. Especially because they didn't really do anything to make the gameplay more suitable for this kind survival horror. The level of action and number of monsters in those games also made them less scary. Walking down a dark hallway is much scarier if you don't expect a monster to jump out from the next corner. In SH 3 and 4 you knew it would happen.

Was there a part in any Silent Hill which made you sad? Yeah, the entire thing with James and his late wife was pretty sad. That's why he's my all time favourite game character. He's so human.

I have to agree with you there. I've studied about the storylines on all the SH's and I have to say that the story with James and Mary was upsetting... A lot of the aspects in that game were meant to represent James' want and need to be punished for what he did to his wife, and a lot of it also represents the sexual frustration he had with Mary after she developed the terminal illness.

I have only played SH2, but looking forward to picking up 3.

I have completed it w/ 3 endings.

2 was my favorite because...well...its the only one I have played.

The scary parts for me were when James was in the hospital and in the underground prison. That last scene in the hospital where ya unlock the door to get out and Pyramid Head is there and ya gotta run like hell to get to the elevator - pure madness. The sound is what did it for me. It builds up and builds up and then goes silent. Then BAM! WTF is that shit??! I loved it.

Sad?? Umm... I felt kind of empathetic toward James at times because of he story line w/ his wife, but I never really felt sad. I dunno, maybe I'm cold.

The only part I didn't really like was all the constant running between places. It was cool at first, but over time you didnt really care to see the whole town and the fog. Just get to where I need to go and be done with it.

On a Silent Hill forum I occasionally go to, many have said that running through Silent Hill itself was actually the most enjoyable part of the game...

Here's a fact for ya'll!

Silent Hill is actually based on a town in New England, nothern Maine, if my sources are correct. It's apparently similar because of the quaint look of the town -- and the fog all around.

Be forewarned all lovers of this series, I couldn't stand it.

Which Silent Hill games have you played? Silent Hill 2

Which ones have you completed? None, I handed it over to my stepfather and he finished it.

Which was your favourite and why?
None, I did not enjoy the game, and I was so disappointed that I didn't want to play any others.

Which part scared you/scared you most, if any?
I think fighting that one guy in the jail cell area, some of the characters were rather freaky.

Which parts of the games did you like most or dislike? I diliked the slowness of the game the most. I would say it's most endearing quality probably was the FMV's.

Was there a part in any Silent Hill which made you sad?
No

Not allowed to post links in here...

Cobain; I'm a little surprised. SH2 was meant to be the best released game out of the series.

Oh well, one mans' trash is another mans'... gold... eh... I never knew how that quote went.

I should be getting SH2 pretty soon. I have the slight feeling it's really going to creep me out. Haha...
